A Ferrari with all the provenance, produced during the Luca Monezemolo Era (Chairman) when Ferrari was winning F1 with Schumacher, a true 2 + 2 v12, LSD, still very analog/natural aspirated with digital creature comforts, single clutch gear box, all aluminum body, amazingly beautiful!

That is actually a throttle and not a choke. A choke “chokes” the air. That throttle works the same as your gas pedal and most people disconnect them because they are kind of dangerous.

Wow. I did not know you could fit rails even when the car does not have the built-on rails. Thanks for this edit: i just learned that this works only with the sedan. the CT and ST do NOT have those mounting points. you NEED the roof bars on those.

I owned one of these cars for 3 years. FFR Gen 1. It was the coolest looking car but the worst reliable car I ever owned. The day it sold was a great day. First of all, never buy one of these with under 2500 miles. It takes thousands of miles to get the bugs out of it.. the new owner has already dropped 9k in repairs in the first 6 months he owned it. Cool cars but major money pits..
@WestCoastSupercarsandClassics7 ай бұрын
Sorry you had that experience. Since they're all custom built, you can't extrapolate any single build to all others. This one was fun to own, I had it for 5 years and the gent who bought it from me (a superfan of them) has taken his vision and lavished it with care. I should go do a followup video so you can see where he's taken it. For starters, he wanted a different engine colour, so he went to the trouble of removing it and repainting it; he wanted a more original look to the rear window so replaced that... and the list goes on. These are very easy to work on so I didn't find it a chore; I enjoyed working on it myself. But it's not an OEM car with a warranty!

COMPLIMENTS ! On your video, very informative, it was like visiting an old friend and chatting about The Labour of Love of Car Restoration. I had quite a few 914's back in the day, I fell in love with one by going down the alley and saw this silver 914 in a garage with no license plate which said to me, Hi ! I could be yours ! It was a 2l with Porsche wheels ,the year was 1986 ,guy wanted $1000 ,it was rusty too ,the doors were sagging, you had to slam the doors shut otherwise the door would flex etc etc . Behind the drivers seat , you had to put a piece of plywood so you could keep the water from the road at bay , Also there was a Gas leak ! I was told from the VW mechanic who reluctantly worked on it that I was driving a Bomb ,and he ORDERED me to GET RID OF IT ! I put some silver duct tape over the rear 1/4 panels/ top door jams drove it around for a couple weeks sold the Porsche Rims for 400 CAR for 800 ,and then, The real hunt began ,I had bought and Sold somewhat restored Many 914 's in 2 years .The 914 was considered the Ugly Duckling and most Mechanics saw me come into their Shop and turned and walked away ,OR Thought ... "What Can I Do You For " I had Fallen in Love with On rails feeling and the Sound of a Fine Tuned 2l or 1.8 l Vw engine. I did a lot of talking with people, before I bought my 1st 914 Most People Said Stay Away ...Or Run Away !.. Rapping this up ,otherwise it will become a Long Novel ,If One is to do Restoration on a 914 You Gotta Love The Car,and Understand and Update & Modify The Shortcomings , One has to know Intimately everything about the 914 ,Only & ONLY IF YOU LOVE TO HAVE THAT SWEET DRIVING EXPERIENCE Which I also got from a race ready Datsun 510 in Vancouver. I Also had a Race ready 914 with Weber Carbs ...The Driving of that Car was as Good As SEX !...So you have to be in Love with the Car and the Feel of the Drive & brush off The Snobbery that comes from " real Porsche owners" and just enjoy !

Apples and oranges? Man, get it together. Just look at the aero of the Porsche. Practicality for everyday driving: Close to 0. Plaid: Family sedan with 100 points a sedan can reach in usability. And surely the fastest in the sedan competition besides the Lucid. You are just, how should I put it, a man with too much money? Because Tesla is destroying the ICE competition in efficiency and sustainability. Just inhale your exhaust fumes happily. 👍
@WestCoastSupercarsandClassics Жыл бұрын
Again some folks miss the point - they think that Plaid makes all sports cars obsolete and slow. Clearly that's not true, not even slightly, when it comes to the purpose of sports cars to entertain and to rip around tracks. It's partly the fault of KZbin since it favours quick drag races, and not the more complex track dynamics. It makes it appear as though Plaid is the fastest thing on the road, which it isn't. That's the point. Plaid has its place, but it's not the king of the road and never can be.
@robinsonreichel1268 Жыл бұрын
Well, it might not be the King of the Race track, it obviously can‘t be because of all the well known reasons like weight, aero, tires, brakes. But King of the road it definitely is. No ICE Car is comparable to the might from a standstill or a roll of a Plaid. Without launch prep aso. Usable in the blink of an eye. Plus it’s ridiculous silence. You can use its power anytime anywhere, even in urban environments. Try that with any ICE of comparable power and you will most likely go to jail or at least annoy people. With a Plaid you can just go for it with almost nobody noticing. And waaaayyyyyyyy more efficiently. That are the points. Those noisy, stinking fart cannons, the 'fun' they may be, the outdated and reckless they are concerning our future and the future of the planet. 😉
@WestCoastSupercarsandClassics Жыл бұрын
@@robinsonreichel1268 A lot of folks do track days, myself included. I track my EV as well, which very few out there can probably say. I also completely understand and support the market for high performance ICE sports cars. It doesn't have to be mutually exclusive. Nobody is going to buy a Plaid as a sports car to take to the track. It's not a good choice. So it cannot replace those products.

I've never actually tried to count, to be honest. I usually do 3 sessions of 20mins or so. Maybe 8 laps per session (guessing) so 24 laps? If they had a DCFC at the track you could juice up between sessions no problem. I have to save some % so I can drive to the town and recharge.
