I just applied for my twic. Graduated college in 2023 as a student athlete. It’s like I was getting turned down with every application(I thought having a degree would increase my chances of getting hired but nope lol) and was starting to get lost on what I want to do to bring in some good Income. I’m excited for it tho and can’t wait to start applying.

Maybe for a younger guy starting out or if they pay radically goes up that is good pay, but it is only a little over 80k a year. Unless you work non-stop it's not that great of money. You're working more hours than a 40 hour week too, just hours allocated differently. Ten years ago I would have done it, but the time away just doesn't seem worth it. I do like the time off in big chunks though, that probably can be an interesting lifestyle.

Do you get health and retirement through SIU? I've been a plumber for twenty years, so I would take a hit on pay at this point, but if I can pick up health and retirement, it would ease the pain. It's time for a change, and I'm considering becoming a mariner for the next twenty years if I like it.
