Haha you're completely normal but don't over stress about it though; It's good to plan ahead but you're super young to be worrying about rent yet lol. I dreamt about having my own apartment as well from a young age, and still do and I'm 21 😂

This is super helpful. As far as savings if you can: Apartment savings (at least 6 months rent), Emergency fund (at least $2500) and what I did I created a separate furniture savings and picked out my dream furniture, not saying I would get those pieces but at least I had an idea of how much the things I wanted would really cost.

I'm watching all these videos to help prepare myself and it sucks every time they say rent needs to be less than 25% of pay or a third of your pay, ect. I only make 2000 a month and there are no safe apartments for that cheap.

I had a apartment 4 years ago then a family passing , changed all that,my siblings had a share in the flat I was buying because it was not in my name, I agreed to selling it for them to have money from the sell ,but they used my share to gain more,and leave me with nothing . from this day I regret sharing and selling, it but I know the family member who was helping me at the time to buy the apartment would say I did the right thing , because there didn't what me to be saddle with the debt of the apartment ,and why it was in there name .so IAM grateful .and will try again

If your gross income is $1,800, but your net income is $1,340 then the 25% from the net income would be $345, yet apartments are around $1,200 per month…. What do I do ? Get a second job ?

You could if you need to move asap but it can make your taxes a little harder to file. But if you don’t mind calling up you 2 jobs for the w2s then you should be good. Make sure you work for 3 month with those 2 jobs before getting the apartment.

Never got an apartment, I think they're a waste of money in my opinion. Before I bought my first house, I estimated the amount of the down payment and what the closing costs would be, and I saved my money until I had what I was looking for.

I prefer home ownership over renting for a lot of reasons, mainly the fact that I can build equity in my homes and rent them out to other people when I'm not staying in them. I won't sell my homes, but if for whatever reason I have to, I know I can use the money from the sale to put towards another property instead of walking away from a lease empty-handed. Also, I don't go clubbing lol. I've got better things to do with my life than get drunk on overpriced liquor and dance in close quarters. I'd rather own the club.
