Hi, I am a retired insurance adjuster, and I wanted to comment on your comment about using a "recommended doctor". In my thirty plus years, I never worked for a property insurance company that suggested to their insured and/or claimants that they should go to their recommended doctor. The only time we would have an injured party see a doctor is during an investigation in which there are questions as to the validity of the injuries, in which case we would ask permission to send the injured person to a specific doctor to obtain a medical review. Plaintiff attorneys most often will have their clients go to a doctor that they use, such as chiropractors. Your question of "why would anyone want to go to a doctor that is recommended when they most often have their own doctors". Plaintiff attorneys will most often do this. I would be curious what insurance companies are in the practice of doing this.

I’m a little lost. Did I say that in the video somewhere? I have seen insurances recommend body shops for cars but not for medical. They will not likely recommend a doctor if you’re injured.

Any insurance agent that recommends lower liability limits is playing Russian roulette. They’re basically begging to get sued for professional malpractice. This day and age all agents should be recommending high underlying limits with a minimum umbrella limit of a million dollars. I always recommended high limits with an umbrella policy of at least 1 million additional coverage. I also had the client sign a rejection letter noting they declined the recommended limits to protect my liability exposure.

Don't move to Miami... got it. Are there some instances in which buying a supplemental umbrella policy is more cost effective than maxing out your primary auto-policy?

That's me all I have is my RV, which is my home,and pay rent and my social security which can't be sued away, no other income of any kind. And a single vehicle. They would have to squeeze the blood out of me.

Really don't see how anyone with under a $250K net worth (probably 80-90% of the US population) would need anything more than 100/300/100, and with net worth's under 100k, why anything more than 100/100/100? Here in FL jumping from 100/100/100 to 250/500/250 is about $200 MORE a month.

You’re not far off from the thought. It’s hard to say on here because those coverages are very state specific. In Michigan, going from 100/300 to 250/500 might cost you $30/yr, give or take a few $. UM and UIM is even less where FL will almost double the price is some cases. It’s worth upping in a lot of states but hard to rationalize in states where the price explodes for dong so.

@@ThinkInsurance My policy for 100/300/50 and UM/UIM is about $220 a month. Adding the UM/UIM adds about 40-50 per month. It's not cheap, but figured I'd just add it since I can afford it. Here in FL going from 100/300/50 to 250/500/100 increases my policy by nearly $100 a month! I'd be paying $320 a month for car insurance, simply outrageous.

Since car insurance is mostly legalized crime, of course we want the lowest payment/cost.

Could you make a video about insurance in California? That's my employers biggest book of business and their ho3 especially is very expensive. I constantly get calls about their yearly premium increases.

What would be my best option for full coverage? Gonna be 22 in November and getting a 2015 Lexus IS250 AWD. It will be financed. I have a speeding ticket from 2018, 2020, and 2022 all of which were 15-20mph over the limit. I live in the suburbs of Illinois

Do you think a 2012 vehicle needs full coverage in Texas?
@ThinkInsurance
@ThinkInsurance Жыл бұрын
If you can comfortably afford to replace that vehicle if you were in an accident then I would lean towards no. The way I calculate it is, if the cost of adding the comprehensive and collision in 3 years cost more than the value of the car, I lean towards not coving it.

As long as your state allows you to. It’s likely more expensive to do it that way though

@@ThinkInsurance It is less expensive from what I have seen and medpay is regardless of fault so it seems to be better than uim, or am I missing something? What is your opinion on that? I am trying to find out if I should make some changes.
