Ouch! I got a Victoria with shield from 1861 for about 500 pounds, which makes it 25% premium with a average wear. I regret not watching your video but it is a lovely coin that will be saved for many years!

I paid £450 for my first shield about 4yrs ago, because it was the first one that became available to me, however I know how OSA feels, because I paid £540 for one that was graded fine, and it really wasn't. I had used that Blackpool bricks and mortar online supplier for well over 20 orders and the issue remained unresolved, so I put it down to experience. In the mean time, I started using, a London supplier that takes credit cards, now I get additional insurance, free next day signed for delivery and after 8 orders they have yet to disappoint .

Wow you are powering on with your purchases . I just picked up a 1863 PCGS AU55 shieldback sovereign but paid too much simply because I just wanted 1 nice example ,equivalent of £475 .It is so hard to find nice coins for a fare price because we pay 10% GST tax on top.

I had some Young victoria sovereigns which I bought and sold with a increase in value. I really want to buy some more, I've nocied dealers sell best value bullion sovereigns, but also young heads with a premium. What is the chance of getting young heads in the best value if they are also selling young heads spereately with a bigger premium?

I have had some young heads in best value that have been in nice enough condition. Sometimes dealers will pick out the nicest examples for those that you pay extra for and the average bullion ones might go out in best value. To some people they'd pay a little more premium, to other stackers they don't care and just continue on best value
