Thank you to all of the suggestions on this video. This technique was based on suggestions on past videos and us testing out which ones work best. We appreciate the help. To clarify some points and answer some frequency asked questions: - UPDATE: we thought we ordered the largest needles available but we were sent the wrong ones. We may repeat this in the future with the correct gauge needle - We didn’t try to dilute the product because we have tried that before and it can dissolve the makeup and change the volume of the product - We didn’t try a turkey baster because it won’t fit in the concealer tube - The water was boiling water - This is not a stolen shade. We bought it from an authorized Australian stockist. We usually order directly from Jeffree Star Cosmetics but our last order took a month to arrive so we wanted faster shipping. - We do not own a centrifuge 😊

I get why people think that the concealer isn’t a good value HOWEVER, for people like me who only use a tiny dot of product (I have the peach color corrector and a little bit goes a very long way), it’s perfect because I will be able to use up all or at least most of my product before it goes bad. My favorite concealer is the Too Faced Sculpting Concealer and while its a pretty good value (it contains .5 oz), there is no way I’ll be able to use it all up before it goes bad. So all of that “extra value” is being thrown into the garbage anyway. Obviously if you use a ton of concealer, the cost will add up quickly.

@ladydubhblossom
@ladydubhblossom 5 жыл бұрын
you pay for the packaging and the wand that holds more product for less formula usage as well... it's not science to know this. It was also explained in his video that it's all customized to be a JS product. however, like all business' they pay for each product they use themselves plus the shaping and making of it, as well as the formula and pay for employees that make everything. He's gonna charge to make a profit to pay all of that back to pay them, himself and make more stuff in the future. All companies work off the moto of you gotta spend to earn, if you make a good product however and people come back your doing it right. if people don't like the price there are literally a million different options that are cheaper and some even more expensive.
@NorfolkEnchants
@NorfolkEnchants 5 жыл бұрын
@@ladydubhblossom Jeffree reviews products, yes or no? People ARE allowed to critique this product and know full well that there are a 'million' different options out there but it seems no one can say anything bad about this because we have people like you coming in explaining simple business practices and giving a spiel about how 'Jeffree needs to make a profit!'. We KNOW this, some of us just don't believe that the cost is worth it for the product AND the packaging you are getting. Go on Jeffree's page if all you want to see is positivity and unicorns.

It doesn't sit well with me that JSC is so generous with their other products but is being so stingy with this concealer. It is extremely expensive and the packaging is one-time-use, which is the bulk of the price tag. I'd like to see them come out with little inexpensive tubes, like flimsy plastic syringes of product, to refill the original packaging for a significantly lower price. As much as JS complains about straws, you'd think he'd be less greedy and wasteful with this packaging.

Yes that’s a great idea! But I doubt he would ever do that unfortunately. I agree he’s being very greedy and stingy. Yes I understand the packaging is expensive to make but either you need to cut the amount of profit your making to make the price less or do what you said and give refillable packaging, or just make bigger tubes they can be just as pretty but if they fit twice as much in then just charge a little bit more for only the cost of the product. That way you wouldn’t have to buy the whole tube as often.

Every concealer basically says to use a few dots sparingly and then these YT’ers start using it to show how to highlight and contour the face but now it’s ALWAYS big triangles. I always get annoyed when people recommend getting the makeup revolution concealer ($7 with less than 3mL) over shape tape ($27 with 10mL) because is “soooo much cheaper”. But for the people who don't have the option of spending £28 on a concealer, which is the case for a whole lot of people, being able to spend £4 on a concealer that's pretty damn good at its job is a lifesaver. I can buy a lot of stuff with that £14 I saved. In the long run, sure, shape tape isn't as expensive per ml as it looks at first sight, but it's still a pretty big chunk of money in one go that isn't an option for a lot of people.

aim-to-misbehave I’m a college student on a SUPER tight budget every month. So I for sure know the temptation to just get the cheaper on so I can afford to maybe go out to dinner one night or get something at the grocery store. But I’m also the type of person who wears makeup everyday. So when I run out of concealer, I’m always faced with this decision as a very serious one to me. But when it comes down to it, I know if I buy the $7 one, I’m going to be right back at this Ulta at the end of the month because I ran out. But if I get the shape tape, it’s a three times a year investment that I’m always grateful to have chosen. I do have some months where I just cannot do the $27 so I always look for good $/mL drug store concealer. Right now the elf one has been good to me!

Not for me it didn't. It took a lot of product for it to do anything and the star thing snapped off. Be careful with your money guys, if you want to splurge give it a try as some people love it but if not there are plenty of really good cheaper, more value for money options out there. Price wise this tops almost ALL concealers out there.

The applicator holds a ton of product so you don't have to dip in when you're using it. Theres enough concealer on the applicator to cover most of your face, therefore there's more product in it than it seems since you don't have to dip in. And its more full coverage so you don't need much.

For people saying the Magic Star Concealer is too expensive...You realize Jeffree Star is doing this all by himself, right? He's cut out the middle man. This isn't some Morphe makeup pallet collaboration. This is Jeffree's Own Brand. His hard earned money invested into every bit of this product. Custom details cost more. I don't think he should squash a dream design just to make a product more affordable. He isn't forcing anyone to buy it if it's too much for you. From watching his concealer swatch reveal, it doesn't look like 4.6-6.6mL less of product will make that much of a dent, because of how well it spreads out. Im pretty sure you end up using less anyways because of how full coverage it is too. It's more expensive, because of the packaging. The quality of the makeup is still on point, you aren't getting extra product like in other JSC products, due to that. So chill. And if it's too much for you, don't buy it! Or save and get it when you can.

One thing people should keep in mind is that when you use a liquid product such as this , you often use it once a day and leave the container. I.e. the product tends to settle at the bottom of the packaging. So in terms of useability you do get to use a whole lot more of the product than you'd might think. Saying that i think you guys objectively present to the best of your abilities how much a consumer is getting fpr their money when it comes to these products.

Here's an idea for lowering the density of liquids like concealers or liquid lipsticks: First take some product out (as much as you can without it getting too complicated). Then mix the rest of the product with a previously volume measured lower density liquid like water or alcohol. That will help you get the rest of the product out. Once you've taken the product out just substract your lower density liquid's volume from the total volume, and there you have it. Edit: btw I really love your videos and I don't even own a lot of makeup

Watching her squirt the air bubbles (plus some concealer) back into the tube just to suck it back in again seconds later hurts me. It flows slowly, give it time! Too much suction and the product can't fill the vacuum as fast as air will. They should try longer 16g to 12g needles and 30ml syringes, that way they can accidentally suck up quite a bit of air before they have to empty it.

I find that most who purchase Jeffrey Atar products aren’t concerned with getting the most from their money and the overall value for dollar per ml. People buy his Products for their quality, unique packaging, limited edition status when that was such a thing, and to just in general support anything he puts out regardless if they use it or not. I’d rather pay for a product like this that is an excellent high quality makeup item in unique beautiful packaging that’s just simply fun and pretty to look at and use. Many are the polar opposite which is fine. Many would only buy products based on value so they wouldn’t buy anything unless it was a good deal to them. Which is also great for them as that’s what is wonderful about so many makeup brands/items in that there’s a plethora of choices for the myriad of different people who use makeup. Nothing wrong with charging more for a product like his as value really is in the eye of the beholder. For me I didn’t think or consider how much product I was getting when ordering the concealer. I know his products do great for me and I enjoy his overall packaging aesthetic so I would’ve bought it no matter what was in it in terms of weight. As always such a fun video and thanks for all the work that goes into each and every episode!
