Great job on the pricing review. I think this pricing is going to make a lot of current Tacoma owners reconsider purchasing a new one and just hang onto their current trucks. Plus this price increase will cause our current Tacoma's to go up in value. I am so glad I got mine when I did instead of waiting for the 24. I purchased my 2022 Tacoma SR 4X2 l4 Access Cab brand new right off the truck for $27,585 out the door. That price also included options like the Convenience package (keyless entry) and bed lights. That's almost $6000 dollars less than the 24 model! And the 24 is decontented compared to my 22. They removed the rear access doors, a deal breaker for me, and did away with the damped tailgate on this model which I really like. While I would enjoy the extra power the new engine provides, I wouldn't trade it for the loss of the access doors. My 2.7 l4 is just fine. Especially since I installed an aftermarket throttle response controller, it's much more responsive and enjoyable to drive now. That's the best addition any Tacoma owner can do for their truck. 👍

The median household income today is $75k per year, so the typical American should actually be in better shape to afford a home with the same relative price. Of course a 30k home back then would net a fairly large brand new home (3 bedroom 2 bath). A home matching that today in any decent shape is 400k+ (on national average), new add another 20k-50k. Which means prices are now relatively in line with inflation, but the home built today with that many bedrooms on average will be bigger, more efficient, and more amenities (modern wiring alone is awesome). Which means that the home buyer is getting much more for the same type of home for the same price. The problem is the person with a median income back then also worked for a company that gave them a defined benefit pension plan, and not one we find ourselves.... $34k on the new SR Taco: unless your 2006 is a short bed access cab V6 2wd prerunner (or you got a discount) the new one gets you more power. Regardless the new one gets more space, more tech, interior quality, safety, non-faulty frame, efficiency, etc. Considering the 159hp SR from back then to now, a 2006 couldn't even be equipped to match a bare bones 24'. Honestly it's not even a worthwhile comparison, Toyota would have to come out with that rumored unibody compact truck based on the Corolla cross or RAV4 to have a fair comparison, and even then it would still be better on the inside in base spec.
