For those bad at math. If a job pays $.50 per minute transcribed, and it takes 4 work minutes to transcribe 1 minute of video... you are making $7.20 per hour.

@@tamarunitamaruni4724 No. it really depends on your situation. For many countries like the philippines or india, $7 per hour is good money. Even for poorer areas of the USA $7 per hour for a chill stay at home job isnt terrible. but im in austin texas.. fast food jobs here are up to $18/hr

Rev now only accepts applicants from native english speaking countries. I have come across many videos claiming you can make lots of money easily per hour transcribing. I can bet these people don't have the slightest clue as to the real nature of transcription / captioning because they do not know that the hour referred to by transcription sites is the audio hour and not per hour of work. These people are simply making fantastic statements to attract viewers to their channel.

Hi, Jennifer. Thank you for your helpful videos! I took Rev's test in March this year, and while their email said it should take just a few days/weeks for them to tell me if I passed, I was seeing other people online saying that, since the pandemic started, it's taking upwards of 4 to 6 months to hear back from Rev. It's now May and I haven't heard from them. Do you know if it's true that it's taking that long for them to reply to people?

I too applied a while ago, the rev team does say that it will approximately take 8 weeks for them to reply to the application. For me it roughly took that long to hear back from them.

Some companies are asking for uploaded copy of ID/driver's license. I'm not sure I feel comfortable with this as there are so many identities being stolen. Seems like I would be handing the criminals my ID online. Do you think it's safe to upload ID on a company's web site?

Rev is a trusted and legitimate company, so I haven't had any issues after uploading my documentation. However, I wouldn't recommend it if a company doesn't have a longstanding reputation.

I'm sure you have already figured this out, but if a company requires your ID, you can redact EVERYTHING but your name and date of birth.

Hi! Rev is a legit company, but that person who is contacting you on Twitter sounds like a scammer. It's against Rev's policy to buy and sell accounts. However, you could apply to get one account just for you and make money transcribing or captioning. :)

None unless you're ok with penny assignments and that's only if you get the job done right. Applied in august and heard from them 4 months later. Disappointed when they showed what the earnings available would be smh.

Your comment is misleading everyone. It takes 4-6 hours to transcribe 1 Audio Hour, assuming your typing skills are at least 90 wpm and your transcription skills at least 50 wpm.
