I have a friend who had a W900 with a flat top sleeper. He traded the truck in for a new kw T680. His fuel consumption on his dedicated haul is down 48% = $480 per day. The time is coming to park the older trucks unfortunately, they can’t keep up with the economics of the new ones!!

What is number 2 diesel selling for in Canada right now? That's what you're getting in the states most likely. Very few places sell straight #1 diesel, and the ones that do charge an extra $.0.60 or so per gallon for it. I'd also bet that that's what they're selling in Canada (straight #1, not "premium"- there's a difference), but I don't know that for a fact. Regardless, if your truck runs ok on the cheaper premium stuff, in the deep cold, I guess that's all that matters.

I believe the difference between #1 and "premium" #2 fuel, I believe, has to do with the removal of paraffin wax from #1 diesel. For all I know the removal of this wax is expensive, so the higher cost wouldn't just be a bigger markup.
