Alright I know this video wasn’t directed at me but it sure answers a question I had and something I said a while back on one of your videos. I’m running a performer rpm dual plane with my procharger on my bb mopar and I thought I might be leaving a lot on the table without a single plane but this shows most likely I’m not. Thanks for another great video and tech help!
@evilinside5984
@evilinside5984 2 ай бұрын
@ronn147- Depends on your RPM window, that you utilize. Example: If your setup would like to be shifted between 7,500 to 8,000 Rpm, if it had the single plane, & you had a 6,000 Rpm tq. Converter, then yes, you would be leaving a lot on the table. But your cylinder head runner volume, & your camshaft would also have to support that Rpm range. Most setups on the street are not that high strung. That is why the Dual planes are usually the best choice on the street, for there average Hp, & Tq..

Oh ive been inspired! Thanks. Ive been trying to figure out how to create a good port shape for a custom Mercedes v8 intake manifold. I love the lsx runners. Im going shopping for a set momentarily. Plus the cross ram inspiration to use two of the restrictive v mounted plemums hanging over the valvcovers. The throttle body openings will be pointed right at each other so a y pipe will be perfect for the single throttle body and CIS K-JETRONIC airflow meter. Ive been talking to a foundry about casting a carb manifold too. Id love to see you pull a 420 or 560se/sel m117 v8 and run it on the dyno. Im almost complete a HEI distributor conversion too.

I would think that some sort of crazy "180-degree" cross-ram intake manifold would do even better than that, much like how 180-degree headers improve scavenging. It's always those two damn cylinders that fire back to back (90 degrees) from each in the same cylinder bank other causing problems on cross-plane V8s.

@@richardholdener1727 Help me out Rich. Are you saying KZ's rationale is incorrect, or the observation? Just eyeballing the graphs looks like the NA setup had the single plane drop from over 340 lbs-ft to under 310 lbs-ft at 4400 rpm. And when boosted it went from about 425 lbs-ft to 400 lbs-ft at same rpm. I mean the losses look pretty close (without knowing the actual numbers), but that would make the percentage drop smaller on the boosted setup.

Still hoping flr that long-duration cam on the long runner manifold test. People keep telling me a long duration cam won't work, but I can't find any tests where anybody has tried it except for that TPI manifold shootout Richard did several years ago where he cammed for the short runner manifolds but ran the long runner manifolds on the same cam. I noticed that the long runner manifolds carried power well past peak power without a lot of drop off. I would like to see running a really long 280-290 intake duration at .050" and even more exhaust duration and see if peak and average power come up and carry well past peak torque like what happened with the ported TPI manifolds.

YOU MAKE YOUR VIDEOS VERY COMPLICATED TO UNDERSTAND.. .... Why are you guys using ONLY two colors. Each engine arrangement should have its own color... RED ... BLUE ... GREEN ... BROWN ..... With HP being A solid line and Torque being A dashed line in the same color ...... .... Allot of your videos IMO are wasted. ....Why???? because you never show a summary on an excel spread sheet that can be downloaded.

he shows EACH test against the control. 1 at a time to compare...what is so hard about reading? your problem is you don't want to learn and understand, you just want to see the results at the end of each video... these aren't the videos for you.
