Using 8GB RAM since 2018 September (Galaxy Note 9). The real benefit of RAM as a storage unit is quite simple - keeping multiple apps open. That's it. 🙂 Think about it. Do you need RAM to keep that app/game in memory which you opened 2-3 hours ago ?

Well the ceeling is always keeping to grow as you can tell there was a time when 1,2 GB RAM phones were just enough but soon highly demanding apps and games started to come and the need went to 4GB now I will say it's 6GB when LPDDR4X. Just like this if u want your phone to run the apps and games in the future you need more RAM, that's why flagships start from 6 or 8 these days yes I am talking about Android here. It's a part of longevity as is. But if you change your phone often and don't care about background apps multitasking and highly intensive gaming 6GB is enough. If you are a normal user 4 is just fine if higher sppeds. If u are a guy to push the Devices to limit then the more the merrier hope I was able to explain. 😊

Go for any moto smartphone in your budget that has 8gb RAM it's better to avoid 6GB unless RAM management is good enough to keep up. I recommend the Moto G 54. Buy first hand if you have enough money or 2nd hand.
