Emergency fund should be in cash, you don't want to be forced to sell silver when the price is way down, just to pay your vet to fix your dog, ask me how I know, I stack a 100 tray ounces, exchange for gold, then rinse and repeat..

I myself have close to a thousand ounces and still stacking. The problem is though the weight and storage itself. I have my silver at home and in the event of a fire, it would be kind of hard running out the door carrying all my silver.

Store your silver so it can be recovered after in the event of a fire. In some type of a steel save or box it won't run out of as it becomes liquid. It can be recovered after the fire. Don't try to pull valuables out in a fire emergency. I was once cleaning up a burnt down garage and found about 30 Oz burn dammaged under a peice of tin. They were still worth spot at that time

Indeed, I share the exact same scenario with you and now that I have 1000 I keep it in a safe, but it doesn’t make me want to stop stacking so I just keep stacking for one day to use it for emergencies and or Retirement

@@Eli-qr9hc Is the safe in your house or a bank? I heard of stories from people who have their stack in a safety deposit box in a bank. When Covid hit, the banks would not let them into their bank for several weeks, so they had no access to their stack for that time. In an emergency they would not have been able to get some to cash it out. That could be a problem at times of emergency.

💯 on the take. I stack silver to stack silver . It is not for my emergency fund now. But I feel 500 to 600 oz of silver if a fair amount to have on hand. The goal is a monster on hand for myself at any given time once it's achieved. Sincerely the 9 mo. Stacker.

Fantastic topic. Yes, I keep 3-6 months of cash for emergencies/bills, then the rest is in pm’s. I never had a goal in the very beginning eight years ago, but I’m sure when I cross over 1000oz or 2000oz I will begin to wonder about where to hide it all and if I want to continue stacking but deep inside, I still wanna keep stacking without a number in mind because I hope one day I can use it for retirement because I have no one to leave it too.

When/if you have 500 oz the focus should be gold. Speculating on silver prices in higher value than that, I'd probably be buying SLV, not physical. I keep my 6 month emergency savings in cash.

I buy whatever I can with the money left over after contributing to my emergency fund, my 401(k), and paying my bills. Usually that's only the money I make from working overtime, but that's okay. It's my emergency fund's emergency fund. The cash goes first, then my stack if strictly necessary. If not, I'll keep stacking what I can and use it to partially fund my retirement.

I accumulated a lot in the $19 - $24 oz range in from 2022 to early 2024. Concentrating bit more on Gold now, and some lower premium collectible Silver, like Kookaburras. Love the 10 oz coins. I'd like to stack as much as I can bench press in silver. As I age I'll sell off as my max bench decreases. lol

I had a wise old man tell me that stacking more than you can carry to the car in one trip was not smart. Silver is around 35 pounds per monster box (rough numbers) so for an old man like me, that would be about a 3 monster box maximum. (Who am I kidding - the wife is not reading this, so no need to impress her with my small arms....it would be more like 2 monster boxes for me! haha ) Or maybe 1 monster box, a couple of guns and 500 rounds of ammo. 😉

I started stacking silver around 4 or 5 months ago did not feel satisfied after getting a couple t 10 oz silver bars then I went to the 20 packs of Silver Eagles in silver buffaloes did not feel satified so i I started to buy the gold buffaloes now i feel satisfied

There are variables that would dictate this answer. If you have a healthy stack of everything you could need in an emergency then a huge stack of silver is not necessary. If your bare necessities are short you would probably need a bigger stack of silver.

Im at 100oz silver, and 2.1 oz gold right now, when i get to 3 oz gold im going to go for 100 more oz of silver and an oz of gold, and by then ill trade up for another oz of gold, my plan is to try to have 5 oz of gold for every 100 oz of silver that i plan on holding and a hundred oz of silver that i can always trade up

Savings account or any bank account does nothing to grow your money. So that’s a waste from the start. A $1,000 worth of silver likely wouldn’t even pay a mortgage or rent payment for a month. To me you should choose a dollar amount that you can put towards stacking that you will not need to touch. If all you can afford is an ounce a month so be it. If you can afford a tube of coins do it. Save what you can as much as you can. But don’t make it where you have to sell your coins to pay bills in 6 months.

Same, 500oz is a good number. Its not a lot but its enough to fix most problems. I stack gold and silver to secure my retirement. If I don't make it and I pass, well my children will have the opportunity to own a home with my hard work. I spend a third of my income on gold and sliver. I have been a broke consumer my hole life and have nothing to show for it. I only have 15 years to make my nest egg and retire. God speed.

I think 1000 oz of silver is my initial milestone. Next up, 1000 grams of gold -or minimum equivalent amount of gold according to the gold to silver ratio (10-15 oz of gold/1000 oz silver). The reason why, is that I consider metals to be a saving AND investment deposit with lowest possible risk. -So, each deposit may have the biggest probability to reach 100K USD over the next decade - aiming to both save and gear the savings similar to a decent compound interest with realistic appreciation goals 20-30% per year.
