Leknesund's ride was in the forests of Oslo, not north of the arctic circle (you can tell by the amount of daylight in the picture)

@OttarSjursen10 ай бұрын
@@peeterl.2016 I wasn't there with him, so I can't tell you exactly where he was, but according to sources to Norwegian TV2 it was in Nordmarka, Oslo. I do however know with 100% certainty that it was not in Tromsø. The reason I know this is that the sun is below the horizon from end of November until mid January.

Last year I was driving in arctic circle near the Yukon River, Alaska, and passed someone bicycle touring south. The temp was around -30F According to someone we talked to at one of the very few truck stops, they were touring from Barrow Alaska to the south point of Chile. With around 200mi between truck stops in the northern section and their slow pace, they clearly had to camp between those stops. Training in -24C temps suddenly feels easy in comparison!

on Sproza sports television, Thibau Nys will step out from racing for three weeks. He has announced that he has run out of batteries. What a pity. Is he under pressure, is he unable to manage victories? What do you make of this?
@tugabooga11 ай бұрын
I mean he had a fairly busy road calendar and only stopped racing in the road close to the start of the cross season, on which he was on a really high level. That plus possibly a little bit of inexperience with managing his efforts (even tho he has some good mentors, am i right?) makes it almost impossible for him to compete at the highest level for the whole cx season

Do the pros get paid by Strava to share their performance info with fans and rivals? I can understand transparency during the season, make sure the numbers make sense, but winter training should be stealthy, I would think.
@2011hwalker11 ай бұрын
They only share certain sessions, you can tell its not comprehensive. They do it to maintain a following and a 'personal brand'.
@tobiasadersjo126711 ай бұрын
They do it because it really doesn't matter if anyone see it. All the pros have a trainer pr team of trainers with an idea of best practice and they evaluate every year and read science. And for the rest of us, what will we do with that information? Its not like we can do the watts they do anyways.
@2011hwalker11 ай бұрын
Its competitive intelligence to know the fitness of your rivals, know their strengths and weakenesses. They absolutely do not disclose their actual performance benchmarks. @@tobiasadersjo1267
@robbchastain303611 ай бұрын
@@tobiasadersjo1267 Thanks for your response and yes, that info doesn't mean much in the grand scheme of things, interesting to see if it is genuine but only a race is a race, only then does the power count for anything and everything. And I feel the same way about Strava segments on open public roads, let 'em be casual or social accomplishments but no more as they are not sanctioned events and so what if someone knows a great time of day to scoot up a climb. I applaud all for their personal accomplishments and sure it is nice to have some street cred but it is all supposed to be fun and recreation and healthy pursuits at the end of the day in the chalet.
