Best ranger rover sport related channel ever. Keep up and I wish this channel grows bigger as it has some really valuable content that you won't find anywhere else. I have a range rover sport and have learned a lot more about it here.

My starter used to hate water. Water would get into the solenoid, and after a day or 2 it would stick and not strike the points correctly. I pulled it out of the car and opened it up and dried it out completely. I cleaned everything with contact cleaner and when reassembling it, I used a high temp silicone sealant on all joints including the breather and have never had the issue again! You'll probably keep having to replace starters unless you waterproof yours!

Any good autoelec that deals with offroad vehicles should be able to seal it up for you, it's not a Range Rover exclusive issue, happens to all models in mud and deep water! My car is an L320 TDV8 RRS and the starter sits really low down at the back of the engine where it can engage the flywheel. Good luck with it mate.

Hey man, Just watching your video clips, I’m not sure that you’ve gone close to the 900mm in them. Additionally, the starter is already in a sealed housing - the breather hose is a pipe which exits higher than where the starter is located so the starter can get air and also be submerged (it’s mounted lower than 900mm); the breather is required so that air expansion can happen as the engine and starter motor heat up. I have a feeling that there may be something else going on. Go have a chat with Don at Rovalution - he may be able to have a closer look at JLR’s install (it may not be as good as they said it was; I mention this because I had three AC compressors fitted in 4 days in Van.)
@DrivenHard
@DrivenHard 3 жыл бұрын
Did you see the front view of the video, I think its on my IG or its a short here on the channel, the water goes to the bottom of the headlights, which is to my knowledge just over the the 900mm. The breather hose was knocked off and melted to an exhaust pipe, they said they see that happen due to water pressure pushing on it etc. I'll go and seek out Don for sure, its something I would like to know more about to try and prevent it from happening again.

What is the best Land Rover Extended Warranty Company in USA? My local Land Rover is pushing First Automotive for MY 2020 Evoque. Car has 29K miles and the quoted Standard New Elite of $5,725 for 72 months 125,000 miles. I watched you video about branded LRJ warranty but there was no link and I can't seem to find that online

Ever thought about stepping down to 20" wheels and get some 275/55/20 KO2s for it? Niche makes a 20x9 +35mm offset wheel that'll clear the front calipers. Niche Gamma i believe, im thinking of going to order a 2022 RRS V8 this week, current build time is around 4-5 months.

Need to check another dealer. I don't think it's warranty since things like that are only covers first 1 year or 20k kms. It's kinda a wear and tear issue

I’m pretty sure the wading depth for the l494 range rover sport is 850mm, it’e the l461 the new one that actually has 900mm of wading.
@DrivenHard
@DrivenHard Жыл бұрын
Nope. It’s been 900mm for range rovers for a while now. The SVR is a tiny bit lower though.

What is the point of having a Rover and if you cannot use it for its intended use with added crazy repairs - this is not cost-effective and efficient. This video killed it for me...

Its max wadding depth is 900mm, I went closer to 1200mm -1400mm. It performed exactly like it should, I was the one who pushed it beyond its limits. The same goes for absolutely every other car out there.

Mate that's not normal. I haven't had a single starter fail in my 5.0 L322 or L405, I haven't taken my L494 sport through any water crossings but I've well reached the 900mm wading depth and no problems.
