How my bunny wears a harness

We took this video a while back because a lot of people on Instagram always asked us how our bunny wears a harness. The harness that Ellie's wearing in the video is from Diaso. It's a small cat harness. You can find similar ones anywhere.
This type of harness worked best for us. Make sure that it's not too loose or tight. We used to live next to a park, we love taking them downstairs for a stroll.
Keep in mind that walking a bunny isn't the same as walking a dog. It's more like walking a cat, and you're just following them around as they check out the places. And with a harness, we're still in close distance with each other.
Please note! NOT every bunny can tolerate wearing harnesses. If your bunny doesn't like it, then DON'T force them to wear a harness.

Yes, very true. Bunny's harnesses could also easily get caught on something, and I suppose everyone who is reading this knows what could happen after that... They could also move quickly in the wrong direction and hurt or snap their neck ;-; But, as you said some rabbits can handle harnesses.

I took one of my rabbits for a walk in the state park. No dogs allowed there. Park Ranger saw me in a field with the leash trailing off into the high grass. He stopped to give me a ticket and asked what kind of dog I had. Scooter heard his voice and sat up on his hind legs to see over the grass. The ranger saw the rabbit, shook his head and laughed. No ticket.

where i live ive passed by a man walking his pet ferrets! i told him " your baby is beautiful!" as i was walking by and he seemed to get a happy pep energy and said " thank you!" and then he told me this ones my little girl but i also have a boy. i am a bunny mom but i have an appreciation for basically all animals. i hope one day i can take my haven to have walks in pretty parks.she doesnt like getting into a harness but once its on she hops around okay and doesnt tug much. i actually have to make her one myself bec the stores are expensive AND too small, and some are too big and shell wiggle her way out of them. shes an indoor baby but i have a nice idea in my head that mommy can take her out to play and have fun. especially cuz shes very curious so i call her " my investigator bunny" sometimes hehe. ps shes a purebred holland lop.

We tried putting a harness on our bunny once. We took him outside for a bit, and after he came inside, he shook himself out of it, and we never tried to use one with him again. Still love and miss him, though :)

That's so sad.. buns are one of the best pets adapted to live in the wild though! They naturally know how to burrow & forage so they do tend to survive well in the wild.

@@justyeeeeeetit actually, pet rabbits aren’t really good at adapting to the wild, if I let my bunnies free in the nature, they would probably die really quickly lol, especially since they are lop eared rabbit and a angora rabbit. It depends if the rabbit is a wild rabbit or a pet rabbit 🐰

@@justyeeeeeetit No, domesticated rabbits have lost many of their wild instincts and do not survive well being dumped in the wild. They will die very quickly if dumped and live a very poor quality of life in feral colonies. Their brain construction is different than that of a wild rabbit and are actually missing chunks of the brain required to sense danger. Keep your buns at home with you, they can’t survive without you.

Same here! 🤣 It took 9 months for our adopted Holland Lop bunny to even let me pet him without freaking out. He was so shell shocked from living at the Animal Shelter for a year. He's calm, laid back and just chill now, loves treats and especially being petted, but those eyes go wide and he panics if I even attempt to pick him up or hold him. He freaks and desperately tries getting down, to the point he'll hurt himself trying. My New Zealand Rex did pretty well as a baby, but he was never the same after neutering. I think the experience was horrible for him. 18 months later, and he's finally just this week coming to me asking for treats and eating from my hands. He doesn't like to be petted yet, but loves jumping on bed behind me and giving "love bites", kisses and "tucking me in" by pulling the blanket over my head. Such a cute and playful personality, but he's still SO skittish! 4-6 months after neutering, I realized I had to change my tactics with him. Instead of me getting him used to picking him up and petting him (against his wishes), I had to completely back off, and not even make efforts to pet him or reach towards him. (Hard to do when you're just dying to love on him!) After a week or two of doing that, he very slowly started coming around me, very timidly checking me out. We're making progress, albeit at a tortoises pace. 🐢
