Hmmm, this is one of the biggest issues in Ghana but when you talk to them and try to point some of these issues, theft, out they act like you’re making things up. My nephew was adding 20% to all the prices he was involved in negotiating and I didn’t know but the Mrs suspected it. I was insistent that my nephew will never do that. Well we were both home and hired someone to do some work but he negotiated and added the 20%. My wife asked the man who was doing the work and he told her how much we were supposed to be paying him and it was very different than what we were told.

Use a construction engineer to control the work. He/She will send you a weekly report and work with your builder to make sure that he/she is respecting the specs on the plan and using the right material.

It depends. For doors, it is best to plaster before fixing doors if you plan on having architraves on the doors (they lay over the plaster). If you don’t intend to have architraves, you can install the frames then plaster to flush with the installed frame. For burglar proof, it should be before plaster that way the plastering can cover all the drilled holes the burglar bars need.
