I always thought that people that move away from the US lose a lot of weight when they come to Europe not just Germany because the food in America is way more unhealthy and fatty
@RivyO7 жыл бұрын
Daniela Antwi food in Germany, Spain, Italy and maybe France is a lot cheaper than in the US so you usually get more for your money, and also when you move to a new country you want to try everything, so you may gain weight if you literally do not know what you are eating. But once you decide to stick to a healthy diet anywhere you go, you won't gain weight.

Something i noticed on my travels is that the light in southern countries makes some colors in textiles look much more "substantial" while in Germany they just look "flat". I'm lacking the right words a bit, but "brighter" doesn't describe the effect perfectly. It's more like substantial, deeper, rich or profound. It must have something to do with the sun's angle. So, in this sense colors don't work as good in Germany as they do in Italy, California or Florida.
@emilyrascon98317 жыл бұрын
Ugh I'm totally the same, I gained like 10 pounds in Germany and have to wear loose clothes😂 for me it's easier to stay in shape in California where I live, probably since people are so focused on body image here so there's a lot of gym classes I can take and health food stores😄 but really I think the delicious german chocolate is just too tempting for me😍🙈probably 3/4 of my wardrobe is black as well, the rest is either grey or white, but it gives me more freedom to mix and match my wardrobe😄

I don’t think it’s practical to wear so much makeup and then after washing your face you don’t have no glamour (it’s scary at times) I mean a little is fair, too much is WHY WOULD ANYONE want to look so glamorous and then when the makeup is off ....... duh, they don’t look at all like the same person - one is very pretty and the other one is so unattractive - I guess different strokes for different folks

Girl! Hayley! You are so RIGHT. I tell my German /Intl. and NY friends this ALL the time. I moved to Berlin from NYC 2 years ago and so many of your points are things I have said repeatedly. Since moving here I've bought 6 pairs of sneakers and I NEVER wore sneakers in NY and that is a walking city. A lot of it is due to the uneven, old and stone streets that have caused foot problems, so sneakers are practical. As you see from my profile picture, I love and look great in bright colors. I still wear bright dresses and blazers , even at work and networking events. I get a lot of compliments from Germans. As a dark skin black women, I look better in bright colors then in dark or black colored clothing. However, I wear them a lot less and wear go-to black dresses a lot more.Funny enough , I came to Germany in the summer time with 6 white dresses (GAP clearance...so American!) and it has take me three summers to wear each dress at least once. It's just because wearing white sticks out so much here and you get tired of sticking out. I noticed my stylistic differences when I travel to Italy or London. I just returned from a 3 week trip in NYC and I love the style of women in that city. Therefore, I think that I'm going to find a happy medium between my stylish roots in a relaxed, I don't care... German way!

Not too much, but some mascara, eyelid line, lipstick etc... I guess, wherever you are for a longer amount of time, you just kind of start to assimilate to their style XD Also, I never thought, that someone with short hair would be lesbian. Why would I? Hahaha "they were sneakers to the clubs here" :-) Well yes, also in Germany, especially in Munich, you get two very different kinda gals in clubs: those who stand around, trying to look as pretty as they can and usually don't move much until they're being picked up (the high heel girls) and then there's those who go to a club to actually dance. I mean: really dance and move the whole night, 4, 6 + hours, not just a side step to the left and one to the right for a little while. Those know exactly why they're NOT wearing high heels.... On women with short hair: Munich is the only large city in Germany where short hair (ear lobe or shorter) is automatically equivalent to being lesbian as well. Nobody in Frankfurt, Köln (sorry, Cologne) Hamburg or Berlin would even get the idea of that....

In Florida it is also much hotter. Of course you will wear more bright and colorful clothes there. Especially in summer. You can dress all white there, whereas with all black you'd be sweating your butt off at day time. Well, maybe some still do if they can handle the heat. Don't know about many people wearing black here in Germany, but yeah with too much neon they may think you got it all from Aldi, C&A here and with all-white maybe that you are into esotericism or some sort of cult ;) Of course in hot countries you can get beautiful and expensive colorful clothes and dressing all white comes more natural. P.S. with the short hair may also be considered lesbian here, but doesn't have to be. Could also be some sort of style or feminist etc.

I’m American but I wear more black clothing than ever. It’s my favorite color. I’m practical, I think about fashion in a sense that I don’t follow the trend even in my younger years. I love style and love dressing up but I also like my clothes to stay with me for years. I mix it up, I have clothes from 10 to 15 yrs that are classic’s. It’s good for me so I don’t spend as much. I’ve been to Paris, Italy and Germany and do see more wearing black clothing but in very good taste. In UK, it is black but a little more color, not loud colors. True, Americans dress to much, to much fashion, too much sportswear, too much jogging pants, too much makeup and EYE BROWS, too much high 👠 and to much fake nails. America is such a big country, we do have conservative ones and like the natural look. We do have many who are sloppy in their dressing. It is nice to be out and be around casual, a little simple is good, very chic is nice but dressing trashy is questionable ~

Being German, I have to admit that Germany is Europe's country with the worst style. This "black" thing simply comes from the fact that most Germans can't make it any better. They actually think that black is a color. Some fashion brands like Wolfgang Joop, Hugo Boss and Karl Lagerfeld unfortunately are promoting black quite strongly. If you want to see good style and fashion, go to Italy, France, Spain, the Netherlands or Britain. These people know how to dress. German engineers don't. They think that a bright colored hiking jacket with a wolf symbol is "style". It isn't, it's just rubbish. The same is true when it comes to shoes - Britain and Spain are way more competent than Germany.

Hayley, Du bist sehr toll. Dein Freund ist auch sehr nett. Du siehst wie meine Tochter aus. Natural ist immer besser. Have you driven on the Autobahn alone. Do you like German beer? Which 5 places would you recommend for a North America "Besucher" Von Kanada
@HayleyAlexis7 жыл бұрын
Thank you Patrick!! Das ist lieb! Ich sag auch den Mike Bescheid. I have drive on the Autobahn alone. The highest speed I reached was 210 (I felt like a superhero) 😂😂😂😂 I love German beer and I hate American beer or any other beer than German. Hmmmm I mean Munich is the best place in Germany soooo. 😂 Na but really. Bavaria (southern bavaria) is really fairytale like. Heidelberg is very beautiful. Berlin was cool. I like places on the west coast with the wine fields and what not ❤️

Could we see the spezi drink the one that Fanta and Coca-Cola made baby together. Also on sundays are movie theaters open in Germany. Are the movies all in German or there are screens that show English.
@jennse197 жыл бұрын
uindy4 The entire film is in German. Always.
@LoLrand0mness7 жыл бұрын
not always. but in most "main" theaters they only show the german dub versions - some (all?) indie theaters play original sound (may even be french, spanish…)

Yes, Haley, you really are doing okay, very much so, I think! And you most probably would have matured in the US as well, even if maybe not that much noticeably for yourself. And yes, Germans like the natural look. Wear your hair as you like, choose your make up (or None at all, that is also okay) - you can be yourself here, I feel. But it is funny, though: we Germans do wear a lot of black. We like black cars, or at least dark blue. Come to think about it, that's pretty boring, isn't it? ;-)

You should go to a T-Shirt print shop to get a one with SHATZI! on it. Just an idea. 😅

LOL. :D Since you mentioned it - you really don't need any make-up. At least not that much. Michael is absolutely right on this.

I have so much stuff, I donate multiple times a year, but I thrift shop so it easy to load up on clothes. I guess that's the reason I'm ok with donating so much of it all the time.
@Vernon19607 жыл бұрын
Hayley!!! I couldn't find the "fat." The weight gain did not "hurt" your looks. Your "glittery" personality makes up for the lack of stuff on your clothing.... I am a bit of a hair "freak" but you rock your shaved head.... if you are not getting hit on by a bunch of women, you can just relax. I must agree with your Mike on the makeup thing... The marketing people in the USA brainwash folk into the massive consumerism ... I assume that make-up's primary purpose is to hide "stuff" but it doesn't look to me that you have anything which needs to be hidden.... Maturing does change one's perspective of one's self....
