Loud gears are just caused by age. The odd noises and the Furby malfunctioning are caused by a shortage in power. The toy has enough power to start but not function properly.

Then one day I was playing with Ay-Ay, and I turned around to see my sister playing with Kah May-May ALIVE. I don't know how it happened, and I don't really care. Not that I know of. But they can die meaning lose battery like any toy. Only the old furbies had the ability to "die." And you can reset it by treating it a certain way, there is no other way. Sometimes "re-setting" it is a huge pain, it can take hours depending on the furby.its like training a real live 2 year old child. LOL

actually, yes. The newer ones are even more bazar. they actually SHAPE a personality by the way you treat them, if u are mean it will act like a vally girl. if u shake it it will become crazy-ish. if you pet it repeatedly, it will become baby-like and nice. If you over feed him/her it will become the "tough guy" or known as the grumpy EVIL furby, which growls and pukes up when u feed it. It learns english on the way which is extremely creepy, but they are cute. speaking of smart toyss!!
