• How To READ To Toddler...
Bedtime can help your toddler learn HUNDREDS of words. I counted the words in "The Story Of My Day" in this video at it was over 600 words!
You don't need fancy toys, flashcards, or apps to help your toddler learn to talk.
This video is an at-home toddler learning activity. I share how bedtime "Story of My Day" helps toddlers learn new vocabulary.
Hey! I’m Adrienne, Pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist from LearnWithAdrienne.com and you want to help your child:
☀️communicate clearly
☀️listen well
☀️gain life skills
Speech and language strategies used in this video:
☀️verbal routines
☀️modeling
☀️narrating your day
☀️nouns, verbs, adjectives
☀️repetition
☀️joint attention
In my KZbin videos, I teach a variety of strategies to help children learn to talk, but in my online class for children, I teach much more in-depth, revealing the actual step-by-step system I use with my own speech therapy clients to get them from saying only a handful of words to talking in sentences and having conversations. My online class is structured with checklists and printouts where you can track your child's progress.
So zooming out, my KZbin videos teach the “what” and my online class teaches the “how.” The goal of the online class is to give you the skills needed to plug in the speech strategies into your daily life with your child and to implement the building blocks, strategies, and concepts during meal time, car riding time, play time, outdoor time, etc.
Here is more info about the class so you can see if it would be a good fit for what you are looking for with your child.

hey, greetings from Turkey. I am raising my 2 year old son bilingual from birth using the OPOL method. I have watched your video and tried it right away. my son mostly sleeps with his mom but today it was really cool to talk to him and he was going back and forth with me sometimes chiming in about the things we did in the playground meeting with a new friend and so on. I have just come across your channel and watched a couple of videos, and they were great. keep up the good work 😊 thanks a lot.

This is going to be a great addition to our bedtime routine! My son is 20 months and non verbal so the more talking we get to do around him I feel the better so hopefully he will start talking. Thank you so much for this!

Yes Ashley! It is such a sweet bonding time of snuggling and reflecting on the day. I feel like it helps us both wind down and enjoy time together. You mentioned that he is nonverbal. Have you had your 20 month old's hearing tested? Has he had many ear infections? Fluid in the ears can make it very challenging for children to hear and therefore challenging for them to talk. Maybe something to ask your pediatrician about :)

Oh that warms my heart! Thank you for sharing that with me! Yes, I have taken about a 2 year break from KZbin to focus on raising my sons (plus, we moved twice in one year, so that kept us very busy!). I made an update video recently that you may enjoy watching :) Here's the video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/j5m6q62chbxsesU

Hello Adrienne! Thank you for all of the great tips that you give us! I've noticed that we are several moms raising bilingual children...Maybe there are others here with the same concerns. My daughter is now 3 years old, fluent in Spanish, and has started to converse in french. She will also be introduced to Dutch in a couple of months as she'll begin school. She understands perfectly when we talk to her in English. Yet, I am a bit concerned about how bilingualism can affect the amount of vocabulary she may get. Do you have any information/ content/ suggestions /courses regarding this topic? Thank you so much! You rock!

Hi! Since you mention Dutch: there is a very informative podcast called Kletsheads by a British linguist living in the Netherlands. She does research on bilingualism and raises her own children bilingual. Her podcast has both a Dutch and an English version. It might be interesting for you!

Do you do this in addition to a storybook too?
@LearnWithAdrienne
@LearnWithAdrienne 2 жыл бұрын
We usually read several books during the day, so I don’t read a book as part of our night time routine with our 18 month old at this time. My husband does bedtime routine with our 3 year old and he has just recently started reading a book to him before bedtime. Since I am home with the boys all day, I keep bedtime relatively short since we have spent all day together. But I know many parents work outside the home and bedtime is a cherished time of quality time and bonding and snuggling up with a book. So do whatever you enjoy doing of books are working well for you! 💙 I think books are wonderful before bed, I just usually like to keep bedtime routine quick, so right now I don’t read one before bed. 😆💤
