• How To READ To Toddler...
Walks can help your toddler learn HUNDREDS of words.
You don't need fancy toys, flashcards, or apps to help your toddler learn to talk.
Use things you already have around your house.
This video is an at-home toddler learning activity. I share how walks helps toddlers learn new vocabulary.
Hey! I’m Adrienne, Pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist from LearnWithAdrienne.com and you want to help your child:
☀️communicate clearly
☀️listen well
☀️gain life skills
Speech and language strategies used in this video:
☀️verbal routines
☀️modeling
☀️labeling
☀️nouns, verbs, adjectives
☀️repetition
☀️sensory exploration
☀️joint attention
In my KZbin videos, I teach a variety of strategies to help children learn to talk, but in my online class for children, I teach much more in-depth, revealing the actual step-by-step system I use with my own speech therapy clients to get them from saying only a handful of words to talking in sentences and having conversations. My online class is structured with checklists and printouts where you can track your child's progress.
So zooming out, my KZbin videos teach the “what” and my online class teaches the “how.” The goal of the online class is to give you the skills needed to plug in the speech strategies into your daily life with your child and to implement the building blocks, strategies, and concepts during meal time, car riding time, play time, outdoor time, etc.
Here is more info about the class so you can see if it would be a good fit for what you are looking for with your child.
The Steps to Help Your Child Learn To Talk: www.learnwithadrienne.com/ste...
P.S. For safety, always fully supervise your child when doing activities that I recommend in my videos.
Video Description: How do I get my toddler to follow directions, to obey, to listen to me? In this video Adrienne, a Pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist who works in Early Intervention, shares tips for getting toddlers to talk. Using simple toddler activities, parents, caregivers, teachers, and speech-language pathologists can learn how to help your toddler talk more and understand more language so that they can communicate better. These tips are helpful so that they will be prepared and ready for preschool, kindergarten, and life beyond the classroom. These tips are strategies for parents, caregivers, grandparents, babysitters, childcare professionals, and speech therapists that you can apply right away with your toddler. Strategies include: following directions, comprehension, repetition, colors, vocabulary expansion, verbal routines, and prepositions.

I CAN NOT express how useful these videos are and how easy all of these tips are to apple to life. My son is three and has autism and adhd. He is also nonverbal to a degree. I thank you so much for all of the videos that you create. But also the printout sheet is something a refer to all the time!

Hi Adrienne, we live in a neighborhood with a park and public pond we can walk around one block over. So we have a lot of nature right here. We haven’t been able to use the park this year with Covid, but hopefully can next year when my BB son turns 2.

I just came across your videos. So helpful. I have some questions though. 1. Can I do this with 6mo? How can babies understand the concept of sound if we cant point it to them? 2. We want to do bilingual. I'm SAHM but my language is a minority and the husband is the majority (English). We are currently doing one parent one language. I also want her to have a good amount of English vocabulary to go to school in the future but my husband doesnt spend time as much as I do. So I'm thinking of doing 80% minority : 20% majority. But I'm afraid shes not willing to speak minority with me as we live in English speaking environment she can immerse in it and learn English fast. On the other side I'm afraid if I only speak minority, she will not have good amount of vocab to go to school. I'm so conflicted!

@@SP-zp3gu 1. Yes! You can start as early as the day your child is born. Babies understand wayyy more than we think they do. 2. Have you had a chance to watch my video about bilingualism? www.learnwithadrienne.com/blog/bilingual-resource-guide That will help!

Oh cool! DC! Yes, watching out the window is a favorite pass time for my son, too. Our home has woods in the backyard, so we often see deer, birds, and squirrels, and sometimes bunnies, too. This summer, we even saw a fox for the first time!! He saw the fox and got so excited. Now we look for all the foxes in children's books and he remembers seeing it out the window. :)

Thanks for sharing, so interesting!! i would like to know if a child does not talk fluently or does not interact with you when talking, do i need to keep talking to her or wait till she starts saying some words ?
@LearnWithAdrienne
@LearnWithAdrienne 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! YESSSS! Don't wait! Talk to her even if she doesn't say words yet. Kids understand words waaaaaay before they can speak words. I recommend talking to babies from the day they are born. Here's an analogy... We don't wait to start feeding a baby when he or she starts growing... babies grow BECAUSE we feed them. Same with language. We don't wait to start talking to a baby when he or she starts talking... children talk BECAUSE we talk to them. Great question! :)

Hi! I need help. Please! So my nephew was been told not to press the car key as he would end up opening the car. They kept telling him, "Don't press it! Don't press it!" And I was getting frustrated with the adults. He is 3 years old but he doesn't know what that means. How can I teach him what the words "press" and "don't press" mean.
@LearnWithAdrienne
@LearnWithAdrienne 3 жыл бұрын
Research "negation." At 3, he most likely doesn't understand the word "don't" in this context. So all his brain is picking up on is his parents saying, "Press it! Press it!" so he is technically following directions because he isn't sure what the "don't" part means. Instead, give him something else to do with his hands. Can you clap 3 times? Can you knock on the keys? Can you point the keys at the sky? Drop the keys in my hands. Also, why is he holding car keys in the first place?
@vanessabayardo9788
@vanessabayardo9788 3 жыл бұрын
@@LearnWithAdrienne thank you. Idk why he was holding them. What happened was everyone was playing in the front yard. His mom had her purse with her, and the keys outside. Why? I have no idea. So at the end of the day she called him over to put his shoes on, and she put her purse and her keys down on the grass to help him put his shoes on. So I was putting my shoes on too and all of a sudden I see and hear her getting more and more upset telling him, "Don't press! Don't press!" Thanks for the respond!
