Their duplication algorithm was absolutely insane this year. Its not just that they made you gamble on packs, they deliberately gave you the same card over and over and over again. I spent the last of my MT on Yao Ming packs a couple of months ago, I pulled the C/PF Yao Ming 8 (EIGHT) times and didn't get a single point guard, shooting guard or small forward Yao.

The icing on the cake to me hating 2k24 was the NEXT packs. I am a Spurs fan. I wanted to use Stephon Castle. My ONLY way of getting him at the end of the year was if I were to buy season super packs. They gave tons of locker codes for those NEXT packs. I got 1 Cody Williams, and the rest (I think 5-6?) were ALL Ron Holland, which were "unsellable" so the dupes sold for 3k,

Season 4 of MyTeam this year was the last great season. I'll explain why: Packs had an baseline of Amethyst for 21K MT, you automatically got 8K MT back regardless! I would open and get Pink Diamonds and was able to sell them back at one point I made 400K MT in Season 4. After that it went to sht... 21K for non deluxe packs that didnt even have Amethyst you were getting Bronze. I wasted so much MT I really hated this game so much after that.

Pink diamonds are completely unattainable to 99% of players unless you buy MT, which people are still doing even with the new escrow system, or you are spending literally thousands of dollars on the game a month. The pack odds are worse than ever.

Same thing is happening with fc and their ultimate team. This year felt like the first year that they really pushed everything to untradable packs which really cut down the amount of players you would see in the transfer market, making it harder for traders to earn coins. Then on top of that they guaranteed packs in the store but they’re all unreadable

The only good season for f2p players was season 6 only because of how good Glen Rice and Dikembe were. On top of that we didn’t even know if Dikembe was even worth grinding for because they didn’t allow us to see what his animations were until 2 weeks were left in the season.

I remember when you could queue up with your freinds in ALL STAR TEAM UP and earn VC by playing with your freinds. I could have fun with my freinda and turn around and upgrade my player or get some packs in myteam. All they have to do is give the player base a way to make the vc by playing and it will drive interaction and naturally it drives sales. But as you mentioned multiple times. They don't care.

I bought this on sale for like $5 bucks or so. Honestly play mostly MyNBA but then I "remembered" there's decent offline mode for My team and I even grinded out a Salary Cap mode team even though I don't play online. If I hadn't missed the Team USA code weekend by like 3 days I think I'd have 1-2 more Invincibles. Are they competitive, you'd beat me, lol bcuz I'm trash at the game. $5 spent was worth it for me. Will do it again next year especially with Next Gen coming to PC. Edit: first 2K purchase since 2k20

I've always been a no money spent player (or maximum $40-60 to be able to actually play MyPlayer). I've played the game going back to the original 2K game from 1999, when you could do a standing alley oop with Shaq on your last free throws. I stopped even buying 2K after 2K20 because of how much of a ripoff it is. Sure, I'll play when it's on Gamepass, but they are no longer even getting a dollar from me because they ruined what was my favorite sports game. Hell, I was low key done with this game when they destroyed TeamUp for not being a mode they could monitize (they had a perfect opportunity to at least offer a MyTeam TeamUp mode in order to keep the game mode alive).
