After Nova's LFS started to make waves, New Flyer released the LFR line based on the established D40 platform to modest fanfare. Undenounced to their competitors, it would be a stop gap for one of the most successful platforms ever.

at this point, new flyer ought to get antitrust'ed and broken into smaller companies. anti-competitive business practices. slowly, flyer is becoming a monopoly!

look what happened to standard oil around a century ago, that's exactly what's happening with new flyer and it's not unrealistic at all for the DOJ to shut them down

@@akana_ New Flyer is heading down the same road as Standard Oil (oil monopoly) from way back then, which got broken up into multiple smaller companies by the feds. It's not far fetched for the feds to shut NFI down like they did with Standard Oil

Great video, too bad the Xcelsiors are a quality and reliability nightmare, theyre not pefect but the novas are definitely better. LFRs were great though, but the 2010+ models had lots of issues

I remember the Flyer Industries D700A buses that B.C Hydro Transit had. This was before Flyer became New Flyer.

With New Flyer's discontinued XDE60 line in mind, if TransLink were to order more artics, they would be either XD60's or maybe XN60's ... unless they shift over to Nova which I think is unlikely but who knows. I could be wrong though.

I think they will order the electric artics from NFI, the XE60, sometime when the fleet transitions to electric with the new Marpole facility in 2026.

Having spoken to mechanics from various agencies, the Xcelsior is usually the most hated bus in the trades for multiple reasons, from NFI's pathetic support full of red tape to the basic design & layout of the bus itself making everything harder than it should be

The hybrid LFR artics came with an ISL engine. ISM's are for the diesel LFR artics.

USA should accept European and Japanese Buses,or the new flyer is the only huge bus manufacturer in N.America,So he doesn't think how to progress.New flyer xe series Now have tail-enclose,there is also a cable-aisle on the top of its last-row seats,WTF the capacity

Yet Gillig is making so much wave here in States that puts New Flyer to shame. Gillig’s electric buses are much better overall. Now if they start making articulated bus, New Flyer’s in big trouble.

I work for a local city transit and we first stated buying electric new flyers but they were so bad and new flyer couldn’t figure out the problem that we cancelled our order for more and moved to Gillig. We have been more happier with them and customers support is so much responsive when we need help.

The EV Gilligs are probably the best EV Buses you cane get. Gillig has came a long way. From mainly targeting smaller agencies to getting major agencies like Portland's TriMet, Seattle's King County Metro (even thoughmost of their fleet is XDE60s), Indianapolis's IndyGo, Minnesota's Metro Transit, St Louis's Metro and etc. Gillig has made some ground. Even in the 90s with the Gillig Phantom (mainly for the West Coast, not sure about anywhere else). My only complaint with Gillig EV offering is that its only the Low Floor Plus. Which they could easily make a BRT Plus Electric which the BRTs look better IMO.

⁠@@GilligBusOperatorGillig sells the Low Floor Plus in Diesel, Hybrid and CNG. But if the Low Floor Plus and the BRT Plus are the same except the front and back (sometimes it’s just the front) then they can make BRT Plus Electrics.

@@carvolthproductions555 third gen diesel nova's are pretty up there too in my opinion, the sound of the ecomat is just glorious. though my favourite sounding 40 foot buses in the fleet are the c40lfr's with c gas plus that we have. there's just something about the sound of those that i like more than the d40lfr's that i can't quite put my finger on.

The New Flyer Xcelsior XN40 is probably my favourite bus from an aesthetic perspective as they're more streamlined, have a balanced wheelbase (7.2 meters) and are generally modern looking.

It’s a temporary discontinuation untill they find a new engine for the hybrid variants which fits the epa standards with Cummins.

We need a New Flyer derivative of the X(B)E40 and 60 for Translink to be able to commit to their zero emissions pledge. But so far Translink has yet to even consider an order for a bus like this. ((B)E for battery-electric, not like the trolley buses)

and yet these buses appear significantly less modern than their European equivalents. They look like EU buses from 10 years ago. Compare these buses with an eCitaro from Mercedes or the lion's City buses from MAN.

That’s not true. The current New Flyer Xcelsiors look quite modern, especially with the flush windows. The doors still look wonky in most cases, but they don‘t look much older than modern European buses. Hell, look how plain the Citaro is and how almost old-fashioned the eCitaro looks.

Also, 7:16 When one of the Gen 2's went over the bump, the doors sounded like they would come straight off. Aswell as the window frames* (*no wonder I see damaged window frames always on novas.)

Mostly prefer the NFI buses. Only the newest gen Nova buses are nice, the older ones suck comfort wise.
