I'm so old that I can recall that going down town to see the window displays was a special occasion to look forward to. Fun fact: The electric toy train under the family Christmas tree started as a 'one off' for a department store window display. When rich people started waving money around wanting one just like it, some smart guy(s) eventually saw the obvious and the Electric Toy Train Industry was born..

Sinterklaaaaaaaaaaaaaaasssssss. He still comes to the Netherlands every year, and on december 5th we have giftsnight. And in between Sinterklaas arriving and the 5th of December children still put their shoe in front of the fireplace or the radiator (what we did) put a carrot in your shoe (for the horse of Sinterklaas) and sing Sinterklaas-songs. I love the way children can believe in Sinterklaas so well and the magic around him. Adorable. We this year will do the gifts in the afternoon coming Saturday. Once the children don't believe in Sinterklaas anymore a lot of families do that. But still plenty who keep giftsnight at december 5th. 😊 you've explained it very well, I kinda already knew how Santa Claus was "born". And its what you told

P.S. "Believe It or Not" - at one time Macy's would release One or More of the Balloons ! And then reward those who returned them ! (It was a Different Time) ... And right up to the Mid-1950's - Once the Parade was over; Macy's would allow a "designated amount" of Kids, into Their 'Toy Land', who were given Shopping Carts for a FREE "Shopping Spree" ! The catch was, They were only alotted a certain amount of time. But frankly, I don't recall how many minutes.
