In this video, we take a look at how Nico young chooses to stretch before a run, this video is not affiliated with NAU, or Newbury park. This is simply what Nico does before a run. The methods Nico outlines in the video are a great way to properly prepare for a run so that your muscles and tendons are ready.

Video Ideas for you guys 1. What you typically do for recovery (what you do if you get shin splints and/or what you do to prevent them) 2. What you guys eat on a normal day and the day before the race and the day of the race 3. Best way(s) to pass the time on long run days (because those are so boring) 4. What type of core and/or lifting workouts do you guys do 5. How you guys display your ribbons/medals/trophies for track and xc

For the second hamstring stretch you're supposed to point your toes up once you're at the top and then release

Hi guys! Great videos thanks! I am a little 30 something hobby jogger from Austria trying to improve. May I ask. Do you do these stretches before every run or only before workouts/competitions? I guess you follow up with some ABC skippings etc? Also do you do skippings/ABC before every run? Thanks in advanve and all the best for your future! BR, Chris

Thank you for producing this awesome content - I had a very vivid dream (recently) in which Nico ran 12:56 for 5000m - he looked to be fresh out of college (no older than 23/24). Don’t call it a “premonition”, but I truly think Nico has sub-13 capacity… and so do you: Lex and Leo - 😇🤝😇

what are some of the other more dynamic stretches yall do in lines? or is it the standard ones such as high knees, etc.?

Maybe we'll make a video on this. Its mostly just toe touches, some knee pulls, some squat things, and more. Like all excersises its very difficult to describe in words.

I would guess not, as the purpose is to prepare them for exercise. But I am not a Doctor so I can’t say for sure.

We use a 5/8 inch braided rope that’s roughly 6ft long, but any strong thick rope will due.

When you guys do easy runs like this, do you focus on heart Rate or just run to feel?

We don’t focus on heart rate, we judge it by pace and how our bodies feel.

No, we only ever run at most 3 doubles a week. Typically 1-2.

We do a variation of this routine, but this definitely would be a great routine to do.

Any hardware store. We use a 5/8 inch braided rope that’s roughly 6ft long, but any strong thick rope will due.

This is still considered dynamic stretching since your legs are always moving.

Does he not do static stretching? I have heard different things on whether static stretching is good or bad for runners.

We try not to do any static stretching before we run. From what I’ve heard dynamic stretching primes ur muscles better.

@@LLexandleovloggs that’s the exact same methodology my high school coach would always teach. Dynamic is better at priming muscles to perform. Additionally, static has been found in a number of instances to cause microtearing which may result in injury over time

@@nickdudle3385Many research has proven that static stretching is not beneficial at all, especially before runs. Static after might somewhat help but has been proven that dynamic/active stretching is the way to go

Yes, pretty much the same thing as the vapor fly, but with a smaller stack height.
