There are some very good youtubers out there explaining color grading and general Resolve usage. But honestly, these are the best. If I have to guess: He is secretly working as a voice over artist. I mean, he just makes you listen. A rare gift.

I've been desaturating the shadows because it worked and I honestly didn't think it made too much of a difference with my videos but there was one video I had that just wouldn't look right and this fixed it. Thank you!

I've been watching so many color grading tutorials lately by so called professionals and pretty much all of them desaturate their shadows. This is the only video I've seen without this technique and your way of balancing them makes much more sense! Amazing content, I'd love to see more tutorials by you on the different parts of correcting and grading your footage.

Thank you! Balancing with Log wheels works great for this purpose. I always had ugly desaturated reds in shadows while using Luma/Sat curve, and wondered what am I doing wrong. Looking forward for more tips.

I can't remember if it was one of your tutorials that I learned to use to color bars for White balance, but I did a couple months ago and it really helped me a lot. It works much better for me than the white balance slider, or desaturating did whenever I miss stuff in the field. Thanks for that gem at the end about using the log wheel to clean out your blacks. I have been keying black, and desaturating the darkest parts of my shadows (with good results), but this seems more effective and best of all much faster!

i'm a fan of user the "printer light hot key" to make broad balancing adjustments. I've even applied colored stickers to my keyboard's numberpad to help remember what does what :) its a bit more of a blunt instrument but great for initial balances

Using the Curves works for me. I assume much like the low range and the high range. Pulling colours up or down on the appropriate place on the curves would do just the same thing no? Any reason why curves for balancing are any worse?

Thanks, I haven't had to yet, but it sounds straight forward. I would.have used the wheels by default. Or try to do it by WB. I use the sat vs Lum to desat my shadows and highlights and add saturation into my midtones for a creative look.
