@moonbowb3 ай бұрын

Man this is so impressive to see but it feels so overwhelming just to watch, as soon as I saw you had to create so many different nodes my brain checked out, why cant you make changes like this to a single node instead of it requiring so many steps?
@moonbowb5 ай бұрын
@@TheJudeza That's a very good question and I can understand how you feel. I might even make another video about it. But in short, the reason for having so many nodes is to have more control. 🙌🏻
@HartenDylan4 ай бұрын
@TheJudeza You sort of can and you sort of can't. The best analogy would be similar to cooking an extravagant meal with multiple dishes that are intended to go together. You could just throw it all in to one pot, stir it up, and see what you get - but if something goes great/terrible, you have no way of knowing precisely what did that (therefore you have no control on how to do it again/prevent yourself from doing it again). With nodes/layers, you can see that if you *cook* the contrast a little too much on a curve, versus another node with a slider, versus another node with the primaries, you can tweak each one individually to find the perfect balance - and therefore know how each layer contributed to the final image by turning the nodes on and off one at a time (ctrl + d, alt + d). There's also some more advanced techniques like colour space transforms, colour matching, and white balance, which are necessary to do without interference of other adjustments (highlighting the benefits of nodes). That gets a bit more in to colour correction versus colour grading, but I hope that helps give you the gist.

I'm sorry, but that's not what chiaroscuro means. Chiaruscoro is also know as 'lost edges'. It is when a part of the foreground is similar enough to a part of the background that the painter refrains from painting an edge in part of that area, thereby making the image more photorealistic. In paintings prior to Caravaggio they would always render each element a distinct,with clear edges all around.You get the same effect inphotography if part of the background is very dark and you don't lighten she shadow side or use a backlight on the shadow side of a person in the foreground. You see that a lot in The Godfather. Chiaroscuro also wwork with things that are bright. If the sky is very bright and the foregroud light side on a person is very high key, then you will lose the edge between that face's brigh edge and the background.
