The tradition at Prairie High School is for the first day of school to be a day focused on a particular topic for the students and not on their traditional classwork. With the advent of College Community's 1:1 technology, fittingly this year the topic was Technology Literacy. Students spent the day getting to know their teachers, starting up their computers for the first time, and they stepped right in to creating a presentation. Each class had a different topic for their presentations. Sophomores had the topic "What not to do with your new computers". Juniors had the topic "How does social media effect my opportunities in the job market?". Seniors had the topic "What should the new Senior Presentations look like?".
The presentations were submitted to the HS administration. The winning submissions were then announced the next week. The Senior class winners came from Mrs. Schilling's homeroom. The Junior class winners came from Mrs. Russell's homeroom. The Sophomore class had a tie between Ms. McWilliams & Mrs. Gudenkauf's homeroom and Mrs. Thiede's homeroom. The school watched the 2 sophomore videos and voted on which video presentation should be the winner.
Here is the winning video from Ms. McWilliams & Mrs. Gudenkauf's homeroom.
