I have seen this video more than a couple of times and still believe this is maybe top 3 all time universe videos just because of the pin point accuracy and communication skills to such a topic. Even not knowing anything, here, you can get more than a glimpse of our reality and how it all began

No sound effects, no cuts every 10 seconds, no horrible CGI effects..... Those people producing documentaries for TV should take a hint from this series. It is amazing that an "amateur" is able to produce content that is way ahead of what the professionals are able to do. This is the way content about space should be presented, and there is enough information in every one of the episodes that I need to watch them several times.

"Professional" means. gets paid. they want you to keep watching, not to actually learn something.. because then you don't need them anymore ;)

This guy's videos are some of the best for making these much discussed concepts understandable to ordinary people. He doesn't used hype, or toss out jargon like a lot of the superstars of science, he just carefully explains things as they have been understood to be, and therefore I get a better understanding of the ideas, a plain view so to say.

This series is the best educational tool of all astronomy videos available on KZbin. It is presented in a format that is conducive to learning. It has one narrator speaking in a calm, clear manner at a pace that allows the listener to absorb what is being said. It references to other chapters in the series that allow the viewer to "brush up", if necessary, to ensure the viewer can comprehend the material. Well done, sir!

This answered my question about the big bang model. It makes perfect sense visible light only reaches us from as far as the time of point were cooling resulted in release of the trapped photons. And the photons went '' kaboom! who wants to see!''😮😮😮All jokes aside, I don't think I've seen any presentation related to this topic to even come close to the informative quality here and I think Mr Butler deserves an Award for presenting cosmology in such masterful and also down to Earth manner.

Wow, it's mind blowing to think how much knowledge humanity has gathered for a fraction of time (like 10000y). And this trend looks to me as rapidly accelerating with every new research, discovery, invention, technology, etc. Like all this is interconnected, more you know, more you want to know. I like one thought : - we've learned so much about the universe with its life, and yet we know only a fraction of the big picture.

Hello David. I've been wondering what's happened...after seeing your several other videobooks, most of them at least two or 3 times(!!), I kept waiting & waiting for the next one to come out. Well finally, last Sept., it did! And I thought that this new series all about the λCDM model. This was exciting, as it, before I watched it, seemed as if we'd be getting more and more deeper mathematical, astrophysical insight/education. This turned out to be entitled "How Old Is It?". Has there been some problem that has prevented you from doing more on this one? If so, IKR completely. Anyway, of course, right now it's already mid-Feb, 2018, so, I'm not holding my breath for any more soon, anyhow. Though I'd really be delighted to see a new one pop up. Thanks again, for all the hard work you've put into this series of educational video books. One last thing: the main reason I love your presentations so much is that you have the perfect bridge between those dumbed-down PBS-style science documentaries, where they have the same 10 or so talking heads pontificating and explaining certain things for us, the "uninformed"; between those and the more super-academic university lectures which usually presume an already steady knowledge of the subject at hand, and so doesn't take the time to, at least, "simplify", that is, go over the basics of the particular subject. These are just right for one who isn't an astrophysics major at Harvard or Cornell, or Cambridge, etc. (or Oxford, where you matriculated), but also for one who has enough knowledge to not need a dumbed down high school version of "science class". Anyway, thanks much for your work. Hope all is well with you & that, sooner or later, we'll see the rest of the "How Old Is It?" video book. Toodles...km.

I think someone from religious background used this video to disaprove astrophysics or prove a creator and now the comment section is filled with people having "intelligent" questions. These are such amazing videos, full of knowledge and yet.. amazing how it has become acceptable to attribute everything to a sky daddy, but very hard to accept that we may not understand everything now, we are trying our best to understand from what we have, and may never understand. "I don't know" should be an acceptable answer, but the fear of unknown is still in play.
@Zahnom4 жыл бұрын
Same here. Also I don't understand why it's of such importance for some that, e.g. the big bang did no happen... I mean, I personally don't really care, I just accept that our current knowledge indicates that a big bang did happen.
@RaulSingh014 жыл бұрын
@@Zahnom Exactly, if tomorrow, we have better theory for the origin of Universe than big bang, I'd be interested in that as well. Its not like I've made a religion out of big bang and suddenly if it's disapproved, my existence is false.
