Obj is clearly the most visionary and nationalist leader in the history of the country. This action allowed a young democracy to find its level. It will be tough for the military to come back now and if they do, democracy is now so entrenched that military rake overs will be frustrated and will not last long

Obasanjo, the great man who never gets any credit for his greatness. Nigeria's best president so far.

Hell No .Obasanjo destroyed Nigeria. He encouraged corruption and destroyed democracy
@landamalome20773 жыл бұрын
@@eazya1523 look at the data! Obasanjo cleared Nigeria'd debt acquired by IBB, he raised Nigeria's GDP and boosted industries like telecommunication. I hate when illiterates like you speak without facts. All Jonathan did was squander, all abacha and IBB did was to loot, steal and oppress. Just look at the data and educate yourself.

He is never sincere and genuine in whatever he does. That's why he isn't given the credit.
@landamalome20773 жыл бұрын
@@jikanmusa780 it's not about "sincerity " it's about result and data! Just look at the facts and stop arguing like an illiterate who has never been to school. The GDP nominal and PPP grew exponentially. I bet you do not even know what that means. Smh. Typical of your type .

What about how his attempted to truncate democracy in 2007 with the third term saga?

I guess the presenter was talking about the context and as well the circumstance he came into the picture at the time when there was almost palpable uncertainty in the air as regards how to forge ahead in Nigeria after the assasination of M.K.O most especially as regards to how to pacify the southwest by whom their son they overwhelmingly voted for was killed in the manner the military junta did..not literally his performace afterwards..but to your comment apparently, any reasonable, honest, Godly, discerning, individual will definitely agree with your submission/comment 100 percent especially looking back with the hindsight of what has transpired since then in our polity from 1999 till 2014 mostly.

That was one of the mistakes Shagari made. He should have retired the Senior Military Officers that had tasted political power. Obasanjo probably succeeded because he knew their antics. He knew them like the back of his hand.

Totally your own view. Babangida did the same and killed off young and vibrant military personnel with the c130 plane crash....did that stop further coup d'etat in Nigeria? These are all selfish individuals that have ruined Nigeria and only trying to launder their names as they draw closer to there graves. Remember, it was under this same obasanjo that history as a subject, was stopped from being taught in schools till date. A country without a history, the young will continue to float around like a ship, without a rudder....imagine that for a moment. Saved democracy indeed.
