Metzl further explains what he means by this by saying, 'The GOP is making the lives of its own support base expendable'. Jonathan Metzl is the Director of the Center for Medicine, Health, and Society at Vanderbilt University and the author of the book 'Dying of Whiteness: How the Politics of Racial Resentment is Killing America's Heartland'. Although I'm not a person of color I grew up in a low income housing community & even though most of the families were black I loved my community everyone looked out for each other no matter what color or income & yes I know what it's like when you're a minor child & your own family can't afford healthy food, supplements, or health care & I am grateful that in my early adult life today I can afford those things to be healthier but I am still also a plant worker at a large facility with preexisting health conditions where not a single person wears a mask except for me & my husband because it's not a requirement & although they have taken measures to increase social distancing, quite a few individuals don't aknowledge the 6ft rule & ignore the guidelines because Fox news said that the pandemic is not a 'big deal' , that it's a hoax, or they simply don't watch the news at all & it absolutely terrifies me that I have to come to work everyday in order to keep a roof over my head & not to mention how I can be sick & have breathing troubles except for a fever & still get turned down for testing at 3 different clinics. It's really pathetic, my mind is blown how our federal government is handling this & THEY WANT TO REOPEN THE COUNTRY!?? All the administration cares about is reopening for the economy ASAP because it's all about the money & the right-winged extremists votes. It really breaks my heart how there have been so many unnecessary deaths because of people like these protesters in the video. The only people who doing anything to help are the state governments, the volunteers in the local communities, & the healthcare workers that are risking their lives on the front lines having to wear trash bags & reuse the same N95 mask for a month in order to do their part, & last I want to give a HUGE shout out to all workers & volunteers risking their health & families' health at this unprecedented time when we all need to be coming together to get through to the other side of global crisis alive.

I've been confused about the behavior...many of these men portray what I would imagine that a survivalist would look like...they are literally donned in survival gear and weapons, but a few weeks at home, hunkering down from a deadly virus caused them to crack. I'm a veteran...a white female. I immediately set a plan in place for my family back in February before the virus reached our shores and made sure we had masks, a stock of food and supplies, we treated this situation with the highest level of seriousness. Can someone please try to explain exactly what they are angry about? I'm genuinely trying to understand. More importantly, WHO are they angry with? The governors? None of this makes sense. Their aggression is confounding. Seems like a case of "Rebel without a cause" syndrome. I see signs that they demand freedom, Trump tells them to liberate...from what? The problem is if you go up to one of these people from a rural part of america and say "You are only protesting because you think your white body makes you immune." You will only get a really confused look. That statement means just as much to them as "you are only protesting because you think your green eyes makes you immune." To most rural Americans skin color is just like length of nose or hair color, it's just something you were born with. It doesn't convey, signal or confer anything onto the person. It just is. I have been a human rights advocate for 25 years. We are one race called humans, we might have different characteristics depending on which country we come from, but one thing I have learned, no matter where we come from there are good people and bad people everywhere, but there are no racist children because racism is something that needs to be learned by the child's primary caretakers, usually the parents. You do not suddenly wake up one day a racist, you need to be groomed, manipulated, and indoctrinated. Racists have the same psychological profile as a member of a cult. It is extremely difficult to reach racists and speak common sense with them. If you are a racist the only question you should ask yourself, 'who tort you to hate? The majority of people worldwide are not racists or evil. They see you as an evil person who hurt people without cause. I have spoken to young people who doubted that their parents were right to hate other people. They asked me if I had some well-documented material they could study. Two of these young men have made their own human rights group with the purpose to inform other like-minded young people. I did not do this, they did. and even if I tried I would not have had any success because of the nature of racism. I can't change brainwashed minds, they are the only one who can make the change. I hope in the future that children can grow up without being indoctrinated into racism, lose their freedom, and be enslaved by a narrow-minded and destructive cult, that all children can grow up in a peaceful world without the sins of their parents.

It's not a massive health risk. In the worst countries it's a 5% CFR at most. I'm not saying it's nothing. I myself quarantined in my house for 2 months. That was because we didnt have adequate information about the virus, and I'm not one to take uncalculated risks. But now that we have adequate information that is saying the same things in multiple different places, which is a 5%CFR I dont believe the risk is that high. I'm not some conspiracy theorist, we literally have the correct numbers now from government organizations. I completely understand the need for people at risk to stay home or away. But as a 22 year old healthy male, with only a 5% CFR at most, I'm going to continue living my life. I put it on hold for 2 months for the greater good, but that's all I can do. For me, it is a risk I'm now willing to take. Not to unknowingly put myself in bad positions, but enough to go about my day to day routine.

He had his chance to literally save the country by ordering the manufacturing sector to mass-produce PPE, put enlisted national guard soldiers into vital supply lines, and to strongly encourage citizens to emphatically practice social distancing and proper sanitization, wear PPE, and live a healthier lifestyle. He has done zero of these things. Now he's preying on the stupidity of his support base, going against his own appointed health advisors' advice, and his administration's original guidelines. With decent leadership we could have fully reopened the economy a month ago. Now we're sure to go into a global depression as the Keynesian economic system implodes, not because of it's flaws, but because of incompetent leadership. God help us all. I pray for all of you. Also if the governor's intimidated then good she should be, fascists like her need to be woken up with reality she works for the people not the other way around. The sad thing is these people won't listen to cause they're either too stupid, ignorant and brainwashed to believe him. When in fact they are putting their lives and so many others at risk. It's so sad and frightening tbh.
