If you’re so into comparison A biological necessity for the continuation of our species which is painful and uncomfortable (I’m not trying to deny that) for 9 months plus extremely painful for .5~1 day Vs A relatively pointless but often mandatory process including training which is likely equally uncomfortable and painful, only without near as much support, plus the high chance of death or injury or being forced to kill another person, which has lifelong effects, and a still reasonably high chance of lifelong effects otherwise, with significantly less thanks You cannot genuinely believe that these are comparable Barring that Mothers Day DOES have a much higher push in todays society than Fathers Day Besides all of that You know women can go to war too (it’s much less common but it is legal) Plus comparison like what you’re doing is the straightest path to discrimination Because women weren’t valued in the past, they get tons of scholarships but there’s barely any exclusively for guys? How is that more fair? It’s just discrimination in the opposite direction Just say both days are important and leave it at that. If you seriously wanted to get into the details, there’s a fantastic case to be made for Fathers Day being more important I’m not going to make that case here because I don’t want a misogynist to read it and start using it to tear women down but don’t you dare try to belittle men in the pretense of elevating women It doesn’t work AND it makes you look pathetic and stupid

Don't forget to mention that depression and feeling miserable so that you find instinctly the company of others to increase the odds of mating during the fertile phase is also part of it. Not all women feel happy or "enhanced" during the start or during the phases, many get into crippling depressions and others get brutal migraines because of the oestrogens. Others can't even move from bed and need to take pills because of the pain, and others get so bad they end throwing up for a couple of days (and is not related to endometriosis). It's a horrible moment for many women and I believe such should be taken into consideration because not all women are "lucky" to feel "happy" and "sprightly" during the menstrual cycles and being forced to work during those stages is a terrible punishment... Also don't forget that others end with crippling anaemias that can destroy their health if not addressed soon by a doctor and that also puts a dent on their welfare in the short and long run. It's very self-destroying in whole, and apparently the only solution to that is to get pregnant at least ONCE... Nature has really made the other half of the human to pull the shortest straw in evolution. Birds and reptiles has it easier in my opinion.

I will not try to pretend that I know what this feels like or that all of you are pretending, and I will not bring up the standard misogynist argument - some variation of “grow up, stop crying about it, it’s not even that bad, you’re just pretending it’s worse than it is” HOWEVER )If HALF of the worlds population goes through this at some point, yeah. Some (many) will exaggerate it for sympathy )The brain adapts to pain, so that if you’re experiencing a constant 1 Db (which isn’t a pain unit but to my knowledge there AREN’T pain units, which I think is a mistake), over time it will feel like less and less pain even though the empirical number hasn’t changed. I get that this is only a quarter of the time vs actually constant but still - why don’t you get used to it? (If there is a legitimate answer to this question I am legitimately looking for it) )You can’t pull the argument that “you’ll never know how bad this hurts, I’m actually tougher than you) cause yeah I will never know how bad that hurts but you’ll never know how bad it hurts to get kicked in the crotch so you can’t tell me what you have is worse )This is my point with the least validity but I do feel it’s still worth making. Half of the planet. Goes through this. It’s a part of life. You are not being singled out by a higher power and made to suffer. Crying about how unfair it is accomplishes zero things. It’s unfortunate that you have to go through this and you have my sympathy but. Get over it In my opinion
@LEVIACKERMAN-zg2ik5 ай бұрын
@@samstromberg5593 First of all, thank you for your opinion. I respect it. I don't really know why women don't get used to period pain, but I do know that they forget labor pain because the brain edits out the memory. So, I think it makes sense why they don't get used to pain. I think the whole argument on the internet about getting kicked in the crotch being more painful than period cramps is stupid. Don't get me wrong, I am sure both hurt a lot, but period pain on average lasts about 2-3 days, it's long-term pain. Getting kicked in the balls is short-term pain. That's why I think comparing both of them is useless and dumb. Also, I think that menstruation is an underrated topic. People, (mostly men) don't have enough knowledge about it. If they did, there wouldn't be a comparison between getting kicked in the balls and period cramps. So, in my opinion, it's great that women are beginning to speak up about this kind of topic that in the past was considered taboo, even if it seems exaggerated .

As a teenager, I often felt guilt or shame for feeling out of control with my appetite at certain parts of the month and other times of the month neglected good nutrition because I’d forget to eat or feel good and felt like I could “make up” for times of hormone induced hunger. It became a disordered perspective and I taught my daughter that appetite fluctuates and it’s normal to have cravings and appetite changes on a cyclical monthly basis and to just focus on unprocessed food all the time rather than judge or criticize her need to overeat during some times of the month. She is overweight as an adult but happy with her body and eating choices while I still struggle with disordered thought patterns around food.

As a middle aged guy, it would help to normalize the subject. I had to learn by tv commercials because my gf when I was a teen was too embarrassed, likely because the subject wasn't yet normalized. Just saying "because my period" doesn't do anything to teach young men what the experience is like fir a woman, and for many of those women seeking a sensitive man it does nothing for them if no man is taught what that cycle does to affect women. If we could just discuss it and force ADHD boys like me to pay attention it's go a long way in reducing Sexism imho, just by learning little things before flawed patterns are reinforced in our brains, which may lead to sexism if not quashed young.

I happened to realize that I experience all cycles in the menstrual cycle recently, in my early 20s. About a month ago just after my period finished I said to my mom, "ah I'm so glad that I feel like myself again". And just a week after that I felt that stabbing mittelschmerz (ovulation pain)😅. Everything mentioned in this video I experience every month. I am fascinated with how my body works, though not all is comfortable. I read about someone adjusting their activities based on their menstrual cycle. Like they work hard and do more things during follicular phase, and take things slowly during ovulation and luteal phase. I hope that people that are menstruating can learn and listen more to their body's need! ❤

Thank you for saying “Women, who menstruate,” not “people” who menstruate. Women menstruate. For me I think one of the biggest ways to support women when it comes to menstruating is to quit the taboo conversation. This is a normal bodily function we’ve had to deal with for centuries. We’ve come a long way in Western society about this conversation however there are still women who get turned away/denied medical care for legitimate pain that is not related. We’re told we’re just emotional or it’s just “her period.” Women have died because their pain was not heard nor cared for. Not to mention there are many other places in the world where women are shamed for something that is a natural part of their body. Also PMDD is real!

There were so many things to say. One aspect I've never heard discussed is how the simple fact of menstruating, even if it goes as best as it can, affects the psychology of a developing girl. Learning to plan for periods, something no one wants to do for you so you have to become responsible even if it happens when you're 10, forces you to grow faster that boys so you start comparing how disadvanteged you are. That you can't be as spontaneous as before - "am I going to be on my period ?" everytime there are plans to go out, do something physical or just be away from home and bathroom access for more than two hours. Learning the hard way that you will always be limited/in pain for a certain time regularly for the next decades reduces your trust in your own body, strenght and ability to function normally, to the point that it can limit your general optimism, hope and ambition for your future. You feel like you can never compete with people who don't have to deal with this shit, or at the very least that it makes it incredibly unfair, especially because you're a kid and you give zero shit about being able to conceive and will not care about that for a good decade after your first period.

I never realised that the joint pain was related in any way to my periods, or the heightened senses- We just really learnt about the bleeding, bloating and cramping- And the doctors always kinda just said 'it's a girl thing'. I really do wish this was explained more- Women have to put up with a lot from our bodies and i feel like a lot of what we have to deal with just gets pushed under the rug as 'not important' when it actually affects a large part of our lives.
