Best way to mix is Leveling your tracks and EQ 🤘🏼 i keep all my faders half way or less that really helps with the mix and i use EQ to help fill and or take out frequencies for the mix. To make the track louder again, I do custom subtractive EQing for the mix, Limiter, Compression and Maximus. Once i do subtractive EQ, i put a limiter to help reduce any loudness. Thisll help push down your level on your master down. With compression i do a light to mid compression depending on the beat. I turn up the gain about 3.5 (or more if needed) because thats when you hear the difference in volume. With Limiting and Compression thisll help level out your song and keep a consistant volume. For maximus i use the Preset, “Clear Master” and this definately clears up my track and makes it louder. After i click the preset, i usually mess with my low end to give it more kick and bass if it needs it. At the end, your beats will sound clear, good, loud enough, and bassy enough 🤘🏼

Bro not a bad tut but i got a few critiques... Your master channel is clipping, you shouldnt put claps and hi hats in the submix with kicks because it causes too much interference and the kicks aren't hitting hard enough for a Pierre beat. I would suggest using some waves plugins like smack attack or rbass or other transient shapers like that for that real hard hitting kick and 808.
@PAULALLENLIVE5 жыл бұрын
good insight. to my knowledge the mix is soft clipped but not peaking above 0. digitally clipping yes but not in the red. i say this due to the signal path on the master channel, the soft clipper limits the output to 0db and “clips” the peaks, hence “soft clipper”
@jamesv69905 жыл бұрын
@@PAULALLENLIVE Thanks for responding positively. I used to use soft clipper but now I just use a limiter, turn the release attack etc knobs off and either bring the gain up or bring the ceiling down. Kind of gives the same effect. The best mastering plugin in my eyes is Izotope Ozone though. Edit: I also just never go above 0db, if it's slightly over, i tend to bring my levels down. I guess that's just a personal preference.

Man its absolutely pointless to show how the plugin works without taking the output down afterward. You see, you just made the drums louder with that compressor plugin, of course it sounded better/punchier. But to truly compare the before and after the volume has to be the same, thats the absolute basics of mixing.

What is the difference between choosing "route to this channel only" versus "sidechain to this channel only"? Would they do the same thing?
@WilliVonka5 жыл бұрын
No routing to channel will remove the main sound from the master and route it to the channel rack only which then goes in to master, while sidechaining will keep the main sound in master and the other rack, this is helpful if you wanna add effects on top of the original sound or add a limiter to cut off sound.

Waves L1,L2 or L3. Logic has a limiter also but ehhh not so great. Don't let me discourage you but, if you want hard hitting drums to sound like todays Trap hits... You should get FL Studio. I switched from logic to FL because of the sonics and less processing needed to get your beats to slap.

Is it efficient to put 808's on the hearts compressor too?
@bigboyvit5 жыл бұрын
Another secret of getting a punchier mix is dropping down the faders of the envelope in the fruity limiter because the attack and release adds a delay signal which makes the Drums to sound sloppy. add Fruity MB if u concentrate more on compressing the low ends you will reduce the amount of distortion in the loud mix.

Because if producers just did everything the tutorial tells them, with no explanation given, they will pick up a lot of bad habits while learning.

Without trying to sound rude u shouldn't be informing people how to produce at your level. U clearly don't fully understand the basics of mixing and even understanding how each stock plugin works and where it can be implemented, there was no proper explanation for what you were doing hell when you said more people need to start grouping their tracks I knew straight away that u were new. I reckon start by actually learning the basic fundamentals of mixing and then u can actually pass on some good production advice. Also I would NEVER recommend to put a soft clipper on the master to get that effect you can methodically make a parallel bus and add the soft clipper/distortion on there and start sending what u want to it you'll get a cleaner mix where you can controll what "clips" and you won't acctually clip the master channel which is basic stuff man.
