Mace Windu, a Force-sensitive human male, was a revered Jedi Master and member of the Jedi High Council during the last years of the Galactic Republic. During his time in the Jedi Order, he once served as elected leader of the Jedi and, during the Clone Wars, as a Jedi General in the Grand Army of the Republic. He was the greatest champion of the Jedi Order and promoted its ancient traditions amidst the growing influence of the dark side of the Force in the corrupt, declining days of the Republic.
When the Separatist Crisis spawned the birth of the Confederacy of Independent Systems and sparked the Clone Wars, Windu and the Jedi rallied to the defense of the Republic and became the leaders of the Grand Army of the Republic. Throughout the war, Windu served the Jedi and the Republic in various capacities-on the battlefield in command of the clone army, on Coruscant as an overseer of the war effort and an advisor to Supreme Chancellor Sheev Palpatine, and even as a diplomat to contested worlds, despite his disdain of politics. His exploits on the frontline served as a reminder of his reputation as a renowned Jedi warrior.
As the war drew to a close, Windu became increasingly suspicious of the chancellor's motives, as Palpatine had amassed near-dictatorial control over the Galactic Senate, and sensed the rising power of the dark side in the galaxy. His suspicions were confirmed when Anakin Skywalker, a Jedi Knight and the Chosen One of ancient prophecy, discovered that Palpatine was Darth Sidious, the Dark Lord of the Sith who manipulated the Republic and the Separatist Alliance into war. Windu, along with Jedi Masters Kit Fisto, Agen Kolar, and Saesee Tiin, confronted Palpatine with the intention of arresting him. Instead, the Dark Lord attacked them, striking them down one by one until only Windu was left. Windu bested Palpatine in the confrontation and-deciding the chancellor was too dangerous to be left alive due to his influence over the government-prepared to strike him down, but the intervention of Anakin Skywalker, who saved the chancellor's life, led to Windu's death. As a result, Skywalker fell to the temptation of the dark side and was renamed Darth Vader.
Windu's actions led Palpatine to brand the Jedi as traitors to the Republic. The chancellor executed Order 66 and clone troopers across the galaxy turned against and killed their Jedi leaders, marking the fall of the Jedi Order. Palpatine transformed the Republic into the Galactic Empire and the Emperor's new regime promoted anti-Jedi sentiment across the galaxy. Through propaganda, the Empire portrayed Windu as the leader of a criminal gang of Jedi who caused the outbreak of the Clone Wars. In spite of the propaganda, some of Windu's actions were remembered with fondness; General Cham Syndulla, who served alongside Windu during the Battle of Ryloth, remembered Windu with great respect and told the tale of how Windu helped him liberate Ryloth during the war

Having Windu as a master probably could have allowed Anakin to be able to channel his anger without losing himself to it. Plus them having that closer bond probably would have made it harder for Anakin to decide to cut off his arm when he was about to kill Palpatine. A shame we'll never know.

They were natural warriors!

Downplay of Mace win against Sidious is wild. Sith Lords have always been experts in either Sorcery/Alchemy or Dueling. Sidious was great in Dueling but probably due to him being under Plaguies his specialty was more Sorcery based. Mace being a better duelist shouldn't surprise anyone. Along with his fighting style of shatter point and Vaapad.

One point that is overlooked is that the Jedi Order required a Jedi to outright master forms 1-6 and all of the stance and kata variants if they wished to learn Juyo. Then they needed unanimous permission from the Council, then finally permission of the Grandmaster. This is why so few Jedi learn the form and why Anakin was denied multiple times.

In EU, he's in the general ball park of RotS Yoda, RotS Sidious, and post-Invisible Hand Anakin/pre suit Vader. Other sources also place him having similar power levels to Yoda and Sidious at that time. And yes, Windu did beat Sidious fair and square, if you examine every statement and feat. Parts of the novel were not considered greater canon than the movie, which included the novel's depiction of the Mace/Sidious duel. The Star Wars Databank, the Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia, the Galactic Files trading card games, etc, which are all considered C-canon (G-canon in the databank's case as far as the movie info) all stated that Windu bested Sidious legitimately and no official source claims that Sidious threw the fight or was holding back. The New Essential Chronology even states that Windu fought a Palpatine who "unleashed his full fury" against him and the B-Team.

Dooku was evidentally holding back. Did you notice that in their fight dooku didn’t use force lightning? Because if you watch the 3d clone wars you would know that at the slightest intervention of electricity Anakin is out of the fight even a bounty hunter with no connection to the force beat anakin with normal electricity. And he was equal to Obi wan. In their fight on mustafar they force push each other and the power was equal sending tham both flying.

I wonder how this analysis fits with the Son of Dathomir comics. Sidious claims that Talzin's saber skills were not on Dooku's level, yet she was able to fight more or less evenly with Mace in TCW. Maul was also able to fight against both Mace and Aayla in what he claimed was 'a fair fight'. So perhaps we could say that at a base level Mace is somewhat below Dooku's level however if he decides to use Vaapad it boosts him up to Sidious level?

Windu hasn't consistently performed at Sidious level enough for a clear verdict to be made regarding his combat rating.

Maul was able to handle himself well despite being in a 2v1 with Mace. Once again this is inconsistent with Mace' showing of defeating Sidious. That said i'll admit the comic fight is too short to be conclusive.

I do believe Mace won his duel against Sidious, but there was one thing that allowed him to, that being Sidious could have killed him first and avoided the issue. Then there's also the fact that Yoda disarmed Sidious off screen, which is why it switches to Sidious using force abilities to keep Yoda at bay. Then there was the fact tbat, the only reason Yoda lost the fight was simply because it threw him further due to his smaller size. Had he not been thrown so far down, he probably would've continued the fight, but he wasn't able to return and knew it was better to retreat to teach future jedi

vaapad is a part of windu's lightsaber style. I don't know where you got the yoda > windu statement is not taking it into account.

There are no statements that Sidious let Windu win, but there are none that confirm he didn’t, or that Sidious would have actually ended up dead had Anakin not intervened at all. It was a fact in Anakin’s mind that that would happen, but not actually confirmation that it would’ve. I have no doubt that Sidious would’ve done something to save himself had Anakin not done anything. He is more powerful than Mace, and thus could focus on force pushing him away before he would strike, and likely disarm him, allowing Palpatine to shoot lighting at him with his full strength, killing the Jedi master.

I'm pretty sure Yoda also beat Sidious in lightsaber combat considering Sidious gets disarmed by both of them. Nick Gillard is one of the sources for the idea that Sidious just outclasses Windu as a fighter, but the script and what we see on screen kind of just indicates that it isn't the case.

In my opinion the power of the verse is around large mountain to small island level. My reasoning for this is that Yoda casually bullied a living mountain, Vader blocked photon torpedos witch can damage large space ships with around this level of durability and Palpatines big lightning bolt in The Rise of Skywalker was calculated at around this level. For speed it ranges between lightning timing and relativistic to light. Because jedi can block sith lightning and can pilot ships that even with their base speed (not hyperspace) are around relativistic to light speed.
