@DarkLordofTheRizz3 жыл бұрын
@@WeirdMagnus What feats would those be? Revan's best feat pre zombification as Revan "Reborn," was launching an Asteroid in zero gravity. Padawan Anakin could tilt weapons platforms in a planet's gravity, into hypersonic missiles, and Padawan Anakin is weaker than Vader. This feat is comparable to Yoda colliding two separatist landing craft in the micro series clone wars. Vader also matched Galen Marek in force combat, who a weaker version of Galen in the same force unleashed novel could move star destroyers.
@DarkLordofTheRizz3 жыл бұрын
Like I'm sorry, Vader has some of the best Telekenesis feats in starwars. He only falls flat to Sidious, Abeloth and Grandmaster Luke. That still makes him top 5. Revan's best technique would be a force storm that's not even Sidious level, and Vader can just absorb it with a maelstrom or Barrier technique, as we saw in the Ghost Prison.

I think Kreia sums it up best: ”There is no strength in the hunger he possesses… and the will behind his power is a primal thing. And it devours him as he devours others-his mere presence kills all around him, slowly, feeding him. He is already dead, it is simply a question of how many he kills before he falls.“

Whether or not Chris Avellone's POST-release comments on Revan vs. Nihilus count as authoritative, he does raise an interesting claim about a hypothetical Revan vs. Nihilus. As Kreia said, "Revan was power. Staring into his eyes was like staring into the heart of the Force." And in the long game of Star Wars, the Force always ends up on top. Nihilus is a threat to the Force, and inflicts grievous harms upon it, as the Exile did at Malachor V, and as Kreia hoped to do at the end of KOTOR II. But the implicit theme is that servants of the Force will always EVENTUALLY win against those who seek to harm it. Avellone probably had that in mind in imagining a Revan-Nihilus duel. Whether he's right or not, however, who knows?

The rock paper siccors theory is good, but I have to dissaprove. When Nihilus was facing Meetra he was already in a weak state, but what I think everybody oversees is that his opponents beside Meetra were his weakneesses. Visas was his apprentice and Mandalore the preserver was one of his former opponents, so I think he felt, although he had very little feelings left, absolute betrayal. If Meetra would've showed up alone, I think she would've died. Nihilus still has absolute power beside his drain. Anyways this is a wonderful video, keep going with the good work!

Revan was a "ordinary" force user and not a wound in the force, however, he had all the knowledge of Trayus Academy and knew Force Drain with upmost intimacy. It is what he was doing in the Star Forge and what the power of the Star Forge truly is. It is what drove the Rakatans to their downfall. Now he probably had means in the force to protect himself from it. Or better yet, he could just use his best weapon: His brain. Darth Traya was the one who killed Darth Nihilus, not Meetra Surik, for instance. She just used Meetra Surik like a guided missile to Darth Nihilus knowing what it would unleash. So, did she fought him 1v1 and won? No. But i would always bet on Traya and not Meetra, for instance. Now, she did that in the same way as Obi-Wan used Luke Skywalker as a guided missile to Darth Vader, only it did not worked the way he intended. He wanted Luke to kill his father, but he ended up going about it a different way. So there are several ways i can think of that Revan would be able to kill Nihilus, including the lack of knowledge from our part, but not from his part.

I always thought the character of Vitiate, especially in the Revan novel, was ripped off of Nihilus in the best of ways. Which got me thinking how come they never came to blows against one another as all powerful sith world eaters. But then I noticed that once these creatures learned to absorb life on a galactic scale, they ceased being Sith lords. At least in the philosophical way. Both cared very little for the sith teachings after they gained these abilities. Apart of me would LOVE to see a "what if" comic line where Vitiate won. Absorbed all life and became a god and is now tending to his crops as a reincarnated farmer.

When it comes to Nihilus, for a character to beat him the deciding factor is if the opponent can resist force drain. If they can’t, they’re dead. If they can, they have a chance. In my opinion that places him very high in the power-scale, and only a few characters could beat him. Meetra obviously, Anakin skywalker, because he is given a natural resistance to force drain, Vitiate(Tenebrae or Valkorian) as he has equal or probably greater use of force drain and his sheer power outscales Nihilus immensely, and maybe Darth Sidious. I say maybe for sidious cus while he hasn’t ever encountered anything like him, sidious’s knowledge of the dark side would probably mean he could resist.

I'm sure he won't spill, but I'd love for Chris (author) to illustrate the scenario he imagines Revan easily defeating Nihlus. Of course, Revan being my favorite SW character, I'm ready to accept he can defeat anyone (he was just setting Vitiate up for being defeated only at the proper time. :)). However, Chris' thinking would give a lot of insights into Darth Nihlus' powers, hungers, motivations, motives, personal ideology, and so forth - although 100% does a very good job at hypothesizing those attributes. What I think is highly commendable of Chris is his realization that after a story is set free, it takes on the life of its readers rather than only the author. I think the best of literature is like this. The best - or more humbly, my favorite - writing can evolve into a dimension quite differently from what the author originally envisaged. We fans are allowed to think of and discuss a myriad of storyline elements and make connections to the greater opera. And the greatest of Lore Channels, such as this one, continue to probe possibilities that maintain literary consistency, continuing the character development well after the author finishes putting pen to paper. This literary and character analysis is what I find absolutely fascinating and compelling about The Old Republic. I have been so captivated and engaged with the scholarly Star Wars ecosystem, I swear I find Lore content infinitely more enjoyable and satisfying than the original work. I don't mean to detract from the stories or imply I don't enjoy them - of course I do. It's that, for me, the indepth insights I get from 100% and other channels really heighten my curiosity and enjoyment of the initial works and the Star Wars Space Opera in totality.

a side note that about The Exile is that it is implied that they would become more powerful through absorbing the energy of those that they killed (in other words, an in game explanation for XP and leveling). the reason The Exile is able to defeat Nihilus is not because of being the paper to the rock, but rather being a bigger rock. it is implied that should the The Exile choose the darkside they would, in time, become like Nihilus.

I always thought that the reason Kreia picked up the exile was for the explicit reason of defeating Darth Nihlus, since if he were to try and absorb him, it would carry over the wound in the force to the Sith lord, therefor making him mortal. Otherwise I dont see anyone defeating something that can absorb the life of entire planets and propel a star ship using the force. Yet I also think Darth Nihlus and whatever it is that is eating him are two different entities, where the Sith Lord may not really be that strong, but whatever inhabits his body and essence has the strength of what, a black hole? An Exploding Neutron star? As for Revan easily defeating Darth Nihlus? Well, consider that the exile is aboard his ship, is accompanied by his droids.. and his old teacher, couldn't you argue that is exactly what he did (by proxy)?
@georgesuarez83253 жыл бұрын
Fantastic and informative video my friend and it was funny you included the Rock's appearance in your video to make your point about rock-paper scissors😂Darth Nihilus is of course a powerful Sith because of his abilities to drain the force from others and devouring words. His powers coming from the fallout of his exposure to the Mass Shadow Generator on Malachor V made him a wound in the force but he has limitations. Nihilus's constant hunger for force energy to sustain himself does limit his abilities so i agree that Revan could have easily defeated Nihilus just like Meetra Surik did. In some ways I compare Darth Nihilus to Darth Vader because Nihilus's hunger to drain the force to live and Vader needed the cybernetics of his suit to live. In battle both Nihilus and Vader can be formidable but if Nihilus's hunger isn't supplied then he becomes weak and if Vader's suit is damaged then his vulnerable unless they both draw on the force to help them

For me, Revan defeats Nihilus because Revan understands him. The thing to remember is that everything in KOTOR 2 boils down to that one moment: Malachor V, when Meetra Surik ordered Bao-dur to activate the Mass Shadow Generator to destroy the Mandalorian fleet. Meetra was in command of the Republic forces, but Revan was there when that titanic wound in the Force was created via the agonising deaths of countless thousands. There is an argument to be made as to whether Revan intended that to happen, or whether it was an accident, but either way, Revan was there, and he knew what happened. It was Kreia who oversaw the creation of the Sith assassins and the training of Sion and Nihilus, exploiting the horrors of Malachor V, but she did so in service of Revan. Revan and Malak made use of the assassins, of course, but it's only natural that they'd seek to protect themselves as well. I can absolutely see Revan and Malak devising a defence against the Sith of Malachor V, should they ever turn on their masters.

I interpreted the vs debates as having other force users being able to find a way to defeat him one way or another. Obviously powerful ones would have higher chances, like Revan. We have to also remember that the force seems to have its own will. And would guide you to find balance at some point or another. It kind of reminds me a lot of defeating Valkorion in The Old Republic. He is tremendously powerful and knowledgable in the ways of the force, but you still find a way to defeat him while he is literally trying to take over your body. So I can see how a Revan or a Sidius might be able to defeat him, with the proper narrative sense. I would not just drop Sidius and Nihilus without knowledge of each other in a single room and expect Sidius to win. Unless that’s what the force wants, I guess.

I think Nihilus’ power is relative to the one his fighting and their resistance to force drain. The thing is, there isn’t a lot of people who can withstand it, the exile did because she was also a wound in the force, so Nihilus had to rely on more traditional force abilities like telekinesis and force lighting and saber combat, which by the way he was proficient in all of it which is why they needed another wound in the force, his old apprentice and Mandalore the preserver. They needed someone as much of an anomaly as him, someone who knew him at a personal level and the most skilled and powerful non-force warrior in the galaxy. So yeah I’d say he is pretty damn strong.

Here’s how I look at it, Nihilis can basically beat most force user except for this who have a unique connection to the force. So he could easily beat someone like Obi wan or Starkiller. However, I don’t think he can beat people whose existence is tied directly to the force itself. So Meetra because she’s a wound, Revan because as Karia described, he is like looking into the force itself, Valcoriron because he’s absorbed so much of the force and Anakin who was born through the will of the force itself
@aenxiety3 жыл бұрын
I think there’s three beings, other than Meetra Surik, who could either defeat or, maybe more importantly, survive Nihilus. Revan, because of what Chris Avalon said, Sion, because he is the positive to Nihilus’s negative and might not be able to defeat Nihilus but Nihilus can’t kill him either, and Tenebrae/Vitiate/Valkorion, again because he is immortal and Nihilus might be able to resist the drain somewhat like Sion but for a different reason.

IMO, Nihilus’s superior force abilities would trump anyone and anything. It makes him absolutely Apex in the Star Wars universe. The ability to literally destroy life with his disembodied voice and physical presence, i honestly don’t see how any Jedi or Sith could even deal with him. I understand he’s a mediocre baseline duelist, but he has damn near every force ability in his arsenal. That factor, again, IMO, makes him the ultimate sith who was really immortal. I truly hope one day somebody picks him up and clears the air and expands on his character. SO MUCH POTENTIAL

So in other words, Darth Nihilus cannot lose to literally anyone unless they happen to be that one person who is also a wound in the force, which just so happens to have only been one person in the entire star wars lore. In other words he is the strongest Sith by far.

Idk about that... He was a Mandalorian Wars veteran and survived the war. Unless your name is Carrick, there is no way you would do that if you sucked with the lightsaber. Plus he became a Sith Lord, meaning he had teachers and then went up being taught by Darth Traya. Plus she had 2 apprentices, meaning that Nihilus would have to spar with Darth Sion, the brute. So while probably not as good as Darth Tyrannus, Darth Vader or Exar Kun, he was probably good enough. But sometimes i get your drift, since he has little use for lightsabers.

I think that there was no oversight or attempt to scale Nihilus to anything because why would they, he was just a plot element self contained in a game and dealt with within that same game. It is like trying to compare Valkorian from The Old Republic, he completely wrecks everyone as long as it is in a cut scene then you can beat him even with a non force using agent or bounty hunter or trooper or smuggler because you are supposed to beat him in the end to finish the game.

I think that Darth Nihilus was more powerful than Vitiate personally. V had to use a ritual and multiple Sith Lords to consume the life of a planet. Nihilus was able to do it naturally. However, I also think Vitiates ability was more controlled. Kreia taught that Nihilus power wasn't strength, but an insatiable weakness. I've also wondered if the Jedi had the time to strip him of the Force, if he would have died.

I think that when it comes to his force drain... Ancient Sith Lords did used it, and combined with Transfer Essence and used properly could make some wondrous things, like Vitiate, and when used wrong, could do a nightmare, like with Exar Kun. They were both examples of how to combine those two force powers, however, none of them could drain a whole planet at will. Sure there will be the argument that Vitiate could, but really, he could not. Why? It took several hundred Sith Lords to make the ritual, which i belive it was probably a thought bomb and he drained their essences later and then used transfer essence. Or he could just have made all of them make a huge Drain Life, regardless, it was the same result as the ritual Exar Kun did, but on a much lower scale, the problem with it was the Transfer Essence. Vitiate just inhabited a new body while Exar Kun fixed his body on his temple. Darth Nihilus did that on his mask later on, however what the other two did not became was a force wound. That made Nihilus be able to suck the life of entire planets and to all that on the extreme and bound his essence to his mask so he could still have a body. That was a bad use of it, since he damned himself to either Chaos or be stuck in his mask. Regardless, the technique when used *right* led to the Sith Assassin's order. When used wrong it led to Exar Kun, when used with malicious intent and all the right tools and knowledge, it led to Vitiate, and then we have Nihilus. The wrong use of the wrong technique for the wrong purposes and in the wrong time. So he was quite unique in that and his technique was surely different.
@Melanrick3 жыл бұрын
Another note that eluded me while making this wall of text was that Darth Jadus probably used Drain Life to enthrall his servants and make them his image. There is much speculation in what made him so strong and why he walled himself with non force users and the answer is that he was slowly draining them of their life to make himself strong and a non force user will *not* realize that until its too late. He's servants are functional zombies in a better state of preservation than he is. Now he mix that with other techniques, but that *is* the right way to use Drain Life.

Darth Nihilus is not a monster nor is he a warrior. He is a demon, a spectre a phantom. He never truly dies and as such his power never dies either. To say how powerful he is is to define power itself and in my opinion he transcends power itself. For there is no power in the universe that can permanently vanquish him. You can exorcise him like a demon and cast him away like a ghost but in the end he is not dead and he will return. And in that return he will be no less terrifying than before, no less controlling or dangerous as before. Revan could defeat him but he cannot kill him and so Revan may defeat him in a battle but Nihilus will live beyond Revan and in doing so beat him. He wins against death itself. That is Darth Nihilus
@blackfangex68133 жыл бұрын
My guess about nihilus vs Revan is that Nihilus is Op against those who are too dependant of the force, just like what kreia did with the jedi Master at the enclave, is similar to what Nihilus does in smaller scale, SO why revan would win against Nihilus? My guess by kreia's pov Even if revan is the heart of the force he was never too dependant of it, unlike most of the force users implied in kotor 2 that most of them were overdependant of it with out knowing they would die instead of cutting themselve of the force and Revan is not the kind of character, specially in the whole narrative of kotor 2, a person that turns soldiers into special jedi hunters, assassination droids, creation of armies over power of the force, Revan was a military strategist overall he was never dependant of the force but his own Strength and power and this is kreia's lesson of Strength and the exile is the Best example of this and Nihilus is the opposite he is very strong in the force but take it away from him, he is weak person, in a Clash against Revan, Revan would likely cut himself of the force if he had to in order to win, because Revan probably Saw the force as a tool and Revan Even with the force is a great duelist, military strategist, charismatic leader And se take his time brainwashed he is pretty good with blasters and droids, Revan was a really strong person and very powerfull individual, some who choose to take the fate of the galaxy on his shoulders
@Terlin1466 Жыл бұрын
i actually think you describe him the best. I also can understand why Revan would be able to beat him. I dont think it would be easy. If Revan can figure out Mitras ability he could in a essence him self do the same. Revan is able to use both Light and the dark side in balance after all. I think he can figure out to turn off his force completely. BUt.... would he figure out that's how to win in time? I don't care who you think is smarter than Revan. Willingly Turning off your force power is like saying you willingly would like to donate all your money. you just don't wanna do it. However Revan is not most people. To activate go dark side and come back from it is a feet no one can claim. For majority of force users. the dark side seduces them.

Well... it's like this, Avellone is voice of god in this matter, so if he said Revan can beat Nihilus, then he can. You might say that he's keeping the details of that under wraps on purpose to create discussion and you may be right. Or the interviewer simply forgot to ask and he didn't think to elaborate either. xD I'll comment, though, that I think he's a Revan fanboy (no criticism, I am too xD) and therefore might have decided that without really thinking about the details of how that would be. =P Who knows. But at the end of the day, what he said goes. PS: Revan would probably find a way to exploit his powers, that are, after all, self destructive in nature.

I think the point of Darth Nihilus is often missed. He was a character meant to be pitied for his weakness, not a character meant to be admired for his strength. You explain the pity part very well, but hang on to the idea that he is very powerful. I think he is powerful in a way but not as popularly thought to be. His special drain powers were revealed in a moment of great crisis, loss, and pain as a survival mechanism happening outside of his control, but as you said, the draining effects were satisfying and he became obsessed/addicted/enslaved to his new found power. However powerful the ability seems, I think it has limited potential in that it only works as an act of betrayal. When his victims defenses are completely down. Point being, in direct contradiction to your analogy in this video, Darth Nihilus is easily defeated by any jedi knight level force users or even non-force sensitives with strong volition. Nihilus relies on unsuspecting prey, and preys on those much weaker than himself. I think it was the innocent and trusting nature of Visas' people that enabled Darth Nihilus to consume them. Perhaps Visas, for whatever reasons, lacked that innocence or trusting nature and thus survived Nihilus's attack. The Jedi Nihilus could have handily defeated Darth Nihilus. Everything else you say about Nihilus sounds on point.
