Given the fact of how old Aurora design is and that Asgard were present on the galactic scene at that time already, it`s mindblowing. Of course Their beams changed it all in the end. Without them Tau`ri would be defenseless against Ori and Wraith...Well, could withstand Wraith though. But way harder. Their design is also well done, Biliskner and O'Neil. Ironically with all that superiority Asgards just chose to give up and leave

@@trainknut Yep, there are still things to find out (unless I missed it), like if they left their fleet to Tau`ri or not? So now they have a few Earth ships, captured Ori ships after the war and possibly Asgard ones? Or they likely blew them as well. Also it`s not clear whether Tau`ri are able to recreate all the tech they`ve got to build more units. The only Asgards left are those from Pegasus, and they`re not friendly shaped hehe

@@descendinguniverse I think it's implied all of their military and science technology that hadn't been destroyed or lost in the fight against the Replicators(which was most of it, to be fair) was handed down to the humans, and yes I do believe that included giving them the blueprints and technology necessary to build more. Not sure if anything as big as a whole ship would have survived the destruction of their homeworld though, if they didn't make mention of it being recovered specifically, then there probably weren't any ships left to scavenge. I wish we could have seen a fleet where the Daedalus, Prometheus, Aurora and O'Neill classes served together. Imagine for a moment an Earth task force battle-group, centred around a Daedalus class as the flagship/fleet carrier, an O'Neill class escort providing heavy long range firepower, and a small number of Prometheus/Aurora class operating as scout-escorts in a similar role to destroyers/cruisers. A task force like that could easily take on Wraith hive ship in open combat, hell if we're including Asgard beams this task force(and why wouldn't we, if they already have Asgard ships?) they could give an Ori squadron a run for their money. And don't even get me started on the Goa'uld; a whole _fleet_ of Ha'tak would struggle against that kind of firepower.

It was an anti-replicator ship. It was created after the asguardians realized how good humans were at fighting and to honor the SG-1 field commander.

It would've been nice if we actually got to see one of these under Human command. How awesome would it have been if the USS George Hammond was the last O'Neill class battlecruiser the Asgard built, just before sacrificing their home planet? I don't think it's that much of a stretch to believe in 2-3 years that they wouldn't have at least finished one last incomplete hull... Imagine an O'Neill class hybrid using scavenged technology and retrofitted Tau'ri weaponry, that would be awesome. Similarly I'm a bit disappointed we didn't see the Aurora class cruisers very much, it seemed like Atlantis was setting them up to be the main combat ship of the Lanteans, and therefore the most likely candidate for repurposing and retrofitting into Earth's fleet... But then all the survivors of the class disappeared after the battle with the Weir's ... non-replicators?

Gave Humanity their knowledge, data bases and tech before they ended it all, that's where the plasma beam weapons came from. I'm thinking about the BC-304's upgraded with the O'Neill hull composition and turreted Ion guns. Good luck against that.

The ships may also be the fastest ever made and more impressively, it appears that they are or almost are a match for the Warships of the Ori (Ascended god like species). Shame that is is highly unlikely any of them survived the end of the Asgard and so if it could do more we just never got to see it.

Mot sure i agree its a match for the ancient aurora class . Ancient drone weapons. Although the asgard beam if it were added sure . Then it might depend on one was in command.

I kindly disagree, each time we see an aurora class its in the process of getting its ass kicked, no zpm, or out of drones. As when the asgard show up their enemies just melt away. imo the asgard ships outclass the ancients.

@@origami83 fair enough ( kindly disagree) but almost all the ones you saw were thousands of years old and in poor repair. . ( damaged) . Aurora doesn't need a zpm to fire drones and we have seen system lord motherships shields stand up to asgard ion weapons. ( and toland ion weapons. Plenary gound based one's. ) . Ancient shields are better or equal. We saw ori mothships ( Ancients themselves ) beat asgard. Take multiple hits from asgard ion weapons in the same amount of time we have seen a volly of drone be launched. How long does it take ? . How long did drones take to destroy motherships? Or wraith hiveships or brand knew Auroras made by replicators. ? But we did see a deadulus use asgard beam weapons snd take out an Aurora . Took four hits in a single burst and the aurora never hot a chance to fire . . But this ship didn't have them . . It might be worth mentioning it seems to me . That four asgard ion reactor engines or power cores . Equal a zmp . Or are close enough to it . And your shields can go down even with three zpm . Odessy had a zpm. And asgard core. And it normal hyperdrive reactor. Snf ger shields were breached . Twice at least as I recall. . Same ships that fell to asgard team weapons. ( class of ship not the ships that breached ) . Oh they have zpm or an equivalent. Technology. . ( respectfully. A civil disagreement is healthy)

The other thing is that it seems that everything the Asguard had was automated so a high degree but Ancient tech seemed to always interface with the biological a LOT more. So sh for ship asguard ships are maybe better but put ea h species in the command chair the Ancientsship may be better. (with the caveat that the ancient got to a certain breakpoint where they ascended but the Asguard ‘messed up and didn’t. Maybe that element make the Ancients better or maybe they would have been worst because they had less time as mortals the. Asguardians it is an open question)

I enjoy how all the Asgard ships have that general hammer shape. Even the smaller side spikes look like a warhammer. O'Neill survived P3Y-229 which almost none of the other ships did. Tells you how tough it is to take on the toilet bowls and come out the other side.

The Asgard O'Neill Class is the latest and greatest ship the modern Asgard have made. It's definitely stronger than the old Aurora class which is thousands of years old.
