Great post. I have a swollen middle pip joint for a couple of months, with a lump on the of the finger, I think it is synovitis. Is it eve possible to heal, how long does it take? Thanks.

A swollen middle PIP joint is a common presentation for synovitis. If there’s a lump on the finger, it may be an osteophyte, especially if it’s hardened. Those conditions can be conservatively managed, to help reduce pain, however, if the swelling and bone growth is hardened, it rarely will go away. There’s a video on joint mobilizations on my KZbin page that goes over techniques to decrease pain with synovitis, I encourage you to check that out.

@@TheClimbingDoctor thank so much for your answer. The lump is formed at the PIP joint, although the swollen joint is DIP. I tried to drain the lump and it comes a gelatine like fluid out of it. First I thought it was a ganglion, but with the swollen DIP joint... I don't know.
