So good. Proverbs has changed my life too in so many ways. At one point, I even became obsessed with trying to be the Proverbs 31 woman until God finally showed me that if I just seek Him diligently those things will come too. Thank you Lord!

The Proverbs 31 woman was a wife of a super rich man who gave her the seed money for starting an impressive enterprise. Not a regular woman!
@elizabethtaylor9242
@elizabethtaylor9242 4 жыл бұрын
Gen Li I’m not so sure about that. I get the impression she started small ..... making some belts and selling them ...... and gradually built up from there. She is well organised and hard working and full of faith, able to step out in faith. She buys a field with her own income. When I first encountered her, she represented to me an unreachable standard, and a workhorse for the patriarchy. A few decades later, after becoming a Christian, I began to receive a more favourable impression of her. Then I met some brilliantly creative Proverbs 31 women, and I was seriously impressed. She is free and creative and loving and giving. She serves from a free and loving heart. She also seems to be physically healthy, which helps. It is difficult for those of us who are not to work day and night, however enjoyable it might be. But her hard work contributes to and raises up the whole household and would be far preferable to working for a corporation or an employer. Instead of being dependent or a burden for her husband, she is an asset.....and contributes to his success and his good reputation. So it is a virtuous spiral up in terms of life enhancement for everyone concerned. Eventually he and the kids rise up and call her blessed! It’s an example of the way the Bible teaches building up not tearing down. Her husband must be something special too, because he clearly is not oppressive, or a control freak and gives her breathing space and love and support. I’m don’t mean just economic support. It is difficult to be like her around people who are criticising you all the time and tearing you down. Appreciation and encouragement are life enhancing in any family. She seems to be the result of divine wisdom, her own and her husband’s.

About the "everything bitter is sweet" thing, I went through a very tumultuous season of life back in 2018. Now that it's over, I am even grateful for the struggles of this time in my life because of the terrible season that's behind me. That's just what comes to mind when I hear that verse. Like, people around me are just unaware and ungrateful of how beautiful their lives are, and I, having struggled so much and come through (by the goodness of Jesus, of course), am just so overwhelmed by thankfulness that even my trials are washed over with thankfulness.

Mike. I thank God for you. Recently, I've discovered that many of the ministers I've enjoyed lately had heretical ideas, bad doctrine, promoting heretics like prosperity teachers or sinful. God must be helping me weed through the tarres. But once it's all said and done I am so grateful to Him for his guidance. I just wanted the teaching as an adjunct to the Word I already study. I have found your exegesis to be spot on, and your attitude very Christ-like. Keep on, brother. God be with you.

The wisdom books (Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Job) brought me back to God after my faith had grown stale. I found so many answers in these books, on topics I never even knew the Bible addressed. It gave me peace of mind that my struggles were not particularly new or unique, and that there were real answers to be found in the Word. (For example Ecclesiastes blew my mind once I realized it directly addressed nihilism… something I had assumed Christians were too scared or naive to talk about!) And Proverbs gave me a place to start focusing on fixing up my life, one decision at a time. One nugget of wisdom at a time. It helped me understand the hurtful behavior of people around me. It helped me empathize, and not resent. It helped me start to notice my own hurtful or selfish behavior, and gave me confidence and guidance on how to correct myself. And then as my sense of peace and understanding grew, I couldn’t deny that there was definitely Something More in these words, working underneath. Once you realize that wisdom is the key to a fruitful, fulfilled life… and that the Bible is a gift that teaches you wisdom… and the Spirit is a gift that helps you act on it… absolutely everything changes!

Proverbs 27:8 "Like a bird that flees its nest is anyone who flees from home." This reminds me how many virtual divorces there are in our society. How many men are unhappy at home and spend all their lives outside the home: at work, fishing, camping, even near home but all the time in the garden or the garden shed or they have a separate man cave or den and they never actually live with their wife.

Trinity worship is mortal sin against the 1st Commandment. Winger is leading people down the garden path to Hell, so he is working against God with his multiple gods of the popes. There is One God and one mediator, not a panel show of three idol gods. 27:30 I did this just this past year in December 2023, I left my wife and kids for another woman because my wife and I had an argument told me to leave and I did. And I ended up on an ankle monitor and on probation and I knew all of these verses and teachings and I still did it. My wife and I acted in pride and he humbled us real quick. These feelings of happiness are fleeting. But the joy in the love of Jesus is forever. And we came to God and he is still protecting us and sustaining us. He took us back just like the prodigal son. And he is safeguarding us and creating a path where there is none. God wants to create us into a person that the enemy is afraid of. That’s ok take that lickin and keep on tickin because The lord will use you to spread the Gospel when he needs to. And this only made our faith stronger. And I hope whatever anyone else goes through let’s their hardships make their relationship with Christ stronger Amen HalleluYAH! 🙏🙌

I grew up without anyone to gain wisdom from, i have no visible parents around, the household i was in doesn't talk much about spirituality, and i basically wasn't raised in a very friendly and healthy environment. All around me was noise. All around me was the certain and exact point of life that I don't want to experience ever again in my entire life, and the people around me are the same ones I won't take as role models. I love them, but still, they didn't bring me any good while I was growing up. My mental health was literally on another level of destruction. Now that I'm old enough to learn and unlearn so many things, and that I've already forgiven them, I am also allowing the Wisdom of God to change the hardened version of me, to be teachable, and to be delivered from the darkness that housed me. Through God's grace, I am saved. ❤

I think Peter was behind the gospel of Mark. I think it's the most "dramatic" gospel, full of moving little details. It gives you people's facial expressions, tones of voice, body postures, and motivating thoughts. It's very human. I knew a godly man who was saved by reading Mark in the hospital when he was a teenager. There's nothing like Jesus. No one is so beautiful and perfect.

The "bitter, sweet and honey" verse has so many facets of wisdom and truth packed into two lines; it was fascinating to hear your take on it, as I had never seen it from that perspective before. The first thing that I gleaned from it was the idea that when we are "full in Christ", or have the Holy Spirit, we are more inclined to reject those things of the flesh that at first seem sweet (temptations, pleasures etc.). However when we are not walking in the Spirit and are fueled by the sinful ways of man, we find those actually bitter things (sin brings about death; bitter indeed) to be what sustains us - we hunger for something that is actually foul in nature, though it may taste sweet at first. So I think this verse can be taken in all the ways that the Lord leads us to understand - as long as it can be applied as a means of glorifying Jesus in our lives, I don't believe it can be "wrong". Thank you for this ministry, and for your excitement and passion for sharing the details and depth of God's perfect word. X

“Rock bottom is wherever you decide to stop going down.” Wow yeah that’s a great wisdom in that saying. We all must continually be living in repentance.

"Every bitter thing being sweet": By waiting until we are truly hungry, though not starving, to eat, we keep our bodies in the catabolic *healing* phase the longest and, as a bonus, even the most bitter cruciferous (for Christ!) vegetables (real thing: look them up) will be sweet. So it is with the Word: the Law and the Prophets may be bitter bills to swallow especially when we are fat on sin, but when we hunger for righteousness, even these bitter pills are sweetness to our lips!

I proverbs, I have read one per day every for the past 5 years, it has totally changed my life and stopped me being so much like for fool talked about in proverbs. One thing that still blows me away, even after reading each one over 50 times I keep hearing and learning new things every time. Just like you showed me some new things I had not thought of before so thank you pastor Mike! I would like a 31 video series on it if you have the time!

Proverbs 27:5-6 "Better is open rebuke than hidden love.6. Wounds from a friend can be trusted, but an enemy multiplies kisses." This reminds me so much of the sexually immoral. The world wants to say that we should affirm practices that the Bible shows is wrong. But affirming people in their sin, is not love at all. Rebuking people is made to sound phobic or hateful, but not warning people of sin is like a doctor not warning you that you have cancer.

This is some of the better teaching on proverbs I have heard. Suggestion for verse 7, if we are "hungry" we might think that company that is just ok, is really good, and not be selective enough; or it could also aply to "spiritual food".

I thought the same way I feel like the wisdom of proverbs can be seen many ways and still be true in most of the interpretations so either way it’s still giving you wisdom so I’m not trippin on a specific meaning in a sense

I think that one of the most basic ways in which we boast about tomorrow is the way that we get into debt. We acquire things that we can't afford today, on the presumption that we will be able to afford it tomorrow. And we make the uncertain tomorrow surety for today.

Very well done and good subject matter. I have personally benefited from Proverbs from an early age. Just as Mr. Winger brings out, it does form your perspective on how to govern your life to avoid many pitfalls. One of my favorite verses is Proverbs 27:11. As most verses, it is stated in many ways by different Bibles and that can change the meaning sometimes. In this case, I think it does come across with more ways than one to render its desired meaning. I prefer this rendering, "Be wise my son, and bring joy to my heart, so that I may answer him who taunts me." What I get from this is that God owns everything, so what can he possibly ask of us individually? I think he is asking that we prove Satan a liar by keeping his commands, statues and regulations. So, when he accuses us of only worshipping for what we can obtain from God, it can be proved false. After all, that is the big issue between them now, isn't it? He graciously allows us to consciously share his universe with him. What a gift. But just as Satan accused Job, he accuses us, which is really amounts to taunting God. The only thing we really have to give God is our loyal love and support. I believe that is what he is asking for here. He wants your help in proving what Satan claims, is a lie. Jesus and the 144,000 proved it already. He is looking for ones who love him, selflessly. Not for what they can benefit from. Unconditional love, that is the only true value in the whole universe for any of us...just ask God, that's all he wants! Blessings.

Truth bomb. For the past year we have been vigorous in our Bible studies. In my free time I enjoy videos on scripture. There was 1 particular pastor/speaker who I felt there was something to be learned from. But I recently found this person on a couple prosperity gospel warning videos and I was having difficulty understanding why or how because so much of what he said spoke to me. I've always prayed for wisdom, knowledge, understanding and discernment and I was struggling with this. But then you nailed it a few minutes into your video. Thank you 🤗 and God Bless 🙏.

We shouldn’t boast about tomorrow, not because of the potential outcome of our plans,….it’s quite simply a necessary humility we must live in,…that we don’t decide when our last heartbeat comes,…God does.
