Why? Its part of the mafia called government! "...the State is fundamentally an anti-social institution, fundamentally criminal. The idea that the State originated to serve any kind of social purpose is completely unhistorical. *It originated in conquest and confiscation - that is to say, in crime. It originated for the purpose of maintaining the division of society into an owning-and-exploiting class and a propertyless dependent class - that is, for a criminal purpose.* No State known to history originated in any other manner, or for any other purpose. *Like all predatory or parasitic institutions, its first instinct is that of self-preservation. All its enterprises are directed first towards preserving its own life, and, second, towards increasing its own power and enlarging the scope of its own activity. For the sake of this it will, and regularly does, commit any crime which circumstances make expedient."* *Criminality of the State* mises.org/library/criminality-state

Taya here! You make a really good point, the Mayor received roughly $500,000 and will be receiving judicial punishment and yet the Kelly family which has made millions from alleged nepotism and inside dealing will most likely not have their day in court. And 4 others on the UMMS board have also just stepped down--but will they have a day in court? Unlikely. Perhaps one is sacrificed publically so the others can go ahead and live their lives. Thanks so much for watching and commenting!

Well-said. I live in Baltimore and it is corrupt to its core. Money goes to the well-off; everybody else gets screwed. I spoke with MaryPatClark at Farmer's Mkt about cutting the property tax rate 50%, which would put us on par with Balt County, thus more competitive. She laughed....and laughed.....that is impossible, she said. Then pointed to the Mkt, "look at how things are improving", and that it was easy to be negative and critical, but that things were improving. WRONG! I have lived here 40 years and, except for the plugged-in white and affiliated establishments, Baltimore is becoming more unlivable, unless you stay in your car, your house, or live in the "special" sections the public sphere is spiraling downhill. Hopkins, Md Medical, and many of the other nonprofits (churches? who own hundreds of slum properties....why do they not pay taxes on these investments?}, are leeches, sucking the lifeblood from the rest of the city.

Taya here! Wow you are speaking some hard truths but you are right! I have lived in Baltimore City my whole life and I have to agree with you, and I am really disappointed to hear that Mary Pat Clarke was so dismissive, part of our problem is that Baltimore County has lower property taxes, lower car insurance, better schools, and they get a discount on the water Baltimore City provides, this isolationism (separating us from the surrounding counties) is hurting us. There are good ideas for lowering our taxes like Loyola Professor Walthers's "Lockbox" plan for lowering taxes. Thanks again for watching and commenting!

@@therealnews Thanks. Yeah, there are a host of other things, besides the onerous property taxes: double the auto and property insurance; toxic environment for small businesses; unequal enforcement of ( ie, certain investors renovating houses with bare min framing permits when they are doing elect, , demo, HVAC , no prints, ), archaic bldg code concerning parking per square feet of development; emphasis on expediting autos thru city ( ie, no attempt at making the city more walkable) coupled with total lack of vision for alternate means of transportation, biking and mass transit. Total fail with biking (thank you Bikemore) , making that environment even more hostile for bicyclists with badly designed bike lanes (which are dangerous death-traps)that serve to segregate and isolate us from access to the main roads of our city, so as not to slow down the kings of the road (autos). The bike Greenway around the city is such an incredibly bad joke. The insanity of the scooters: other cities have banned them....can't we ever learn from the mistake of others? You talk to city officials about implementing ideas that are working elsewhere, and you get: "oh, we are not...Bogota, Portland, Vancouver, New York City, London....well, no shit! Apples and oranges, they say. Just in my neighborhood, where there once were stores on every single corner selling everything from fresh produce to beer to fresh-made sandwiches, there are vacants. Greenmount Avenue....total disaster, while tens of millions has been poured into the JHU Charles and St Paul area. That type of emphasis just sucks the life out of the Greenmount corridor.....The existence of the Waverly Main Street program, that has been in operation for 15 or so years is like pouring salt into the wound. Wrapping tinsel around the streetlights and free parking is their big idea of bringing the Xmas spirit to Waverly Shopping area. Ho, ho, ho! Their big new idea to bring back business is new brick sidewalks! To replace the old brick sidewalks. And having art students paint save the bay scripture on them. Lord, save us from these big ideas.

The legal system is also corrupt. The corporations have made it tough for citizens to sue. Here in Texas, auto auctions, that sell repo'd cars, and auto insurance companies agents are scamming the people who have their cars repoed My son is one of them. After his car was repoed, which he tried to pay the amount owed before hand and they refused, the auto auction and his insurance agent made a claim on the car for hail damage. There are no reported hail storms in any region my son was in during the time he had the car. They filed a claim and the insurance company paid it. Do they not check weather reports before approving claims? All this was done after my son got a new car and put it on the policy and had already removed that car. And they never told him about the claim being filed or paid. And the law allows this to happen. In Texas anyway.

@@therealnews , the biggest scam from car insurance providers is they now can base your cost on your credit score, which unfairly hits lower income people. I have a perfect driving record for 15-20 years, drive a used 10 year old compact Toyota and pay twice the amount for liability as friends do for full coverage on a new car. It's no wonder people are driving without insurance and admittedly I've debated the same.
@xyzsame4081
@xyzsame4081 4 жыл бұрын
@@MrJjjd1 Mandatory car insurance works just fine everywhere else. - True, other countries have reasonably set up healthcare systems and often also better consumer protection in general. I know that the public non-profit healthcare insurance agency where I live (Austria) can get compensation from car insurers in certain cases (I think only in rare cases - for the less costly less severe cases I think it is agreed that they do not claim compensation). Public healthcare insurance is set up to serve the common good - and going for compensation by private insurance companies would drive up car insurance costs and create more administrative costs. So with a non-profit there can be a societal and legal agreement to give it a pass in most cases. If people are entangled in an accident they will not end up with the medical costs (even if they are high, ongoing, or extended rehab is necessary). That includes the driver(s) even if they caused the accident. But a driver that bears responsibility for an accident cannot claim damages of an insurance (for the car, for lost wages, or disability). The public healthcare insurance agency has at least reasonable rate agreed with doctors and hospitals (so in the cases where they can pass on accident related costs to the for-profit car insurers - those medical services are at least not overpriced). here the mandated minimum car insurance coverage for personal vehicles is a total of 7,6 million Euro (roughly 8 million USD). max. 6,3 million of that to cover harm done to persons, and 1,3 million for damaging property. It is not very expensive to have double that amount or 20 millions. Maybe in the range of 10 - 30 Euro per year. So just in case you are found guilty to have caused an accident that results in disability of several persons and you (well your insurance) owes them a life long pension .... The lawsuits for damages (permanent disability - that can get expensive) are not as high as in the U.S. - that may be a cost driver in the U.S.

His blood pressure was so high it caused his optic nerve to swell. He's almost back to normal but still having some vision problems. Thank you Real News!! We need more stories like this to focus on exploring the cost- effectiveness of those we place in leadership to provide public services with our tax dollars. Undoubtedly, this Mayor, board and health insurance companies are far from the only public servants servicing themselves as opposed to serving the public. If you decide to investigate for-profit university systems please interview me. These "universities" are draining the U. S. Dept. of Ed. of millions of dollars in much the way as you describe here. The more incompetent, the more money they make, the more US education (like healthcare) increases enormously in cost while quality of education deteriorates, and students are stuck with the irrational unpayable bill of tremendous student loan debt. The more deserving students are less likely to receive our degree certificates. Walden University and the state of MN are excellent candidates for your "Greed Makes You Stupid Award".

The 1% fear poverty. Those of us who have survived it know less fear. The MSM assaults us with wealth porn to make the masses both wistful & angry. They then weaponize this emotional state to create tribalism. I recommend consuming less, both in terms of mainstream (corporate) media & extraneous consumer goods. The ONLY way to bring the 1% to heel is to cut off their funds. If more people would stop conflating spending with love, the power paradigm would shift.

Despite the title of the book Fear, I think we're neither discussing the properly framed problem, nor the big picture solutions yet. #FearIsTheProblem. Fear is the root of bullying, misogyny, homophobia, racism, bigotry and greed. Fear allows people to mentally wall-off their own empathy to virtually zero. Three of the biggest generators of fear are 1) out-of-control capitalism and historically unsustainable and exponentially growing wealth and income inequality levels (if you lose your job you might lose healthcare access, your home, car, partner, child custody rights, etc), 2) fear-mongers like Fox/Faux/Fear News, the GOP, etc. (they’re all out to get you, all the time), and 3) religion ('evil' is waiting around every corner, all your life with eternal unimaginable fiery torture as a deterrent). Let's be honest, no amount or size of Great Walls, or military spending, or nuclear arsenal, or non US soil military bases and ops, or international weapons sales, or personal weapons and magazine sizes, or of school teachers with guns, or of privatized, militarized (and systemically racist) police and mass incarceration, or of mass deportations including the Dreamers, or of bans of entire groups of people, or of intentionally torturous (and often permanently orphaning) separation of immigrant children as a deterrent, or threats to shoot rock-throwing refugees, or torture of POWs, or control over women, or Space Farces, or border moats filled with snakes and alligators, or anything else will ever Make American Republicans Feel Safe enough... Every single American Republican policy puts fear and greed (fear) before people and planet (including equality and empathy) and no single policy in the world in the modern era is as patently bigoted and of the scale as their continued fight to ban (and register, and ''pre-arrest'', etc too) all Muslims (a bigotry-blanket of fear/hate covering all 1.8 billion people of all colors, from all nations, of all ages, of all sexes and sexual preferences, etc). Fear (and the empathy and critical thought it kills) is what separates the right from the left. The fear at the root of ”Nationalism is an infantile disease. It is the measles of mankind.” -- Albert Einstein Liberals hate American Republicans because all of their policies put fear and greed (fear) before people and planet (including equality and empathy). American Republicans hate liberals for the exact same reasons, because they’re afraid we’ll get in the way of their fear and greed. We're closer to American Civil War II than most believe where our own families would again take up arms against those that do not join in their extraordinary fear and greed based bigotry, just like last time. With a $15 min wage, tuition free education, universal healthcare, a universal basic income (UBI) and internet access for all, we'll raise the starting point of capitalism from zero, we'll let you die with no money, to a level of life with dignity, reducing societal daily fears on a massive scale which will free us to welcome the coming automation revolution with open arms rather than fear and great harm. #getALLmoneyOut #EqualityMovement #StillSanders Call me overly positive, but I think we’re leaving the era of ‘greed is good’ and celebrating wealth and entering an era of altruism and equality. #EraOfAltruism #CelebrateSelflessness

So many accusations against politicians should be more sensitive. Often well intentioned individuals make mistakes for failing to inform themselves. These type of proliferation of corruption without a direct conversation with those politicians make us all look bad and at the same time, it discourages good public servants for even run.

Taya here! Don't worry in the press conference we spent plenty of time giving this public official a chance to explain her actions. And we spoke to her on other occasions.(And got feedback from other reporters who spoke with her and others) We just didn't run the entire press conference because it would have made this piece way too long. We always do our best to give those we include in our reports a chance to comment--sometimes they choose not to of course. Our goal is not to scare people away from public service, but if officials take advantage of voters we think they have the right to know, then the voters can decide for themselves. Just when you think you have heard it all (John Oliver on for-profit dialysis centers - death panels, real ones). So they ordered second hand military helicopters, that need tons of maintainance, need TWO pilots and are just too large for the purpose of picking up a patient in an urban area or on a two lane street (they are so heavy they can topple over). No one in their right mind would purchase these vehicles if they only want to have emergency transports well organized. Theory of one of the presenters: Martin O'Malley was involved in having them bought from Pennsylvanian military contractors, because that might help his presidential run in PE. (and who knows what other perks, has anyone investigated where family members work or who bought books written by O'Malley). I simply can't see Senator Sanders pulling off something like that, I can't. the hundreds of millions wasted let the other grifts appear insignificant (the selling out of mayor Pugh who got 500,000 and 200,000 for children's books that were poorly written and never printed in large numbers, or millions of contracts for a Kelly familiy. Nice to know that black and white politicians will fleece the system).

What would you say the most vulnerable moments in a person’s life are? Birth, youth, education, illness, joblessness, aging, that would be my list. And yet it’s at precisely these moments that our institutions and systems prey on us, pull the rug out from under us, don’t just fail us, but work against us, the exact instants, the great turning points in a life, when they should be supporting us. That’s the grim, consistent, predictable pattern of life now. That’s what I’ve come to call the predatory principle. Institutions and systems prey on us at the precise instants we’re most vulnerable when we need the most support. But instead of supporting us, they take advantage of us. Our frailty, our circumstances, our misfortunes, our missteps. They knock us down, instead of lifting us up. Whether our healthcare, education, retirement systems, our economic systems, or many more. At critical, often irreversible turning points in our lives, when we need to be supported most. ~T.Bone ("I rather have questions I can't answer than have answers that I can't question.") - I have more to learn from on my KZbin channel.-

This is small fish though. Talking about corruption and using one of the few Black politicians in this country (who yes, have also been 'corrupted' i.e. are getting rich off of the capitalist system, and used as instruments of the state) always makes me wonder about priorities. If there are 'corrupt' Black politicians, it is precisely because we live under a 'White Man's government' which would rather see mischief and graft rather than real opposition and push-back.

Taya here! I meant to say one of the richest countries in the world. Thank you for the correction. It does depend on whose statistics you look at and whether you use the GNI or the GDP as measurement. According to the World Population Review the United States (Based on UN and IMF figures,) the United States has the largest GDP in the world at $20.4 trillion (IMF) and $18.6 trillion (UN). GDP Ranked by Country 2019. Of course, if you look at GDP per capita Quatar would be the richest country in 2019 but if you compare the GDP it would be the U.S. There is a link below if you are interested. If California was a country it would have the 6th largest economy in the world which makes me feel comfortable talking about the U.S. as one of the richest if not the richest country in the world but of course it depends on the measurement you are using. I hope this clarifies my statement for you. Thank you for watching and for commenting, I hope this helps!-Taya worldpopulationreview.com/countries/richest-countries-in-the-world/ www.investopedia.com/insights/worlds-top-economies/ countryeconomy.com/countries/compare/usa/qatar
