Tarantino told a story awhile back where he was talking to Scorsese about De Niro years before Jackie Brown. And Scorsese mentioned that if you ever need to describe a character to Bob, talk about the characters shoes, De Niro loves to know about a potential characters shoes. So years later when Tarantino pitched De Niro to play Lewis, the first thing he said was "Lewis is just getting out of prison, and he's been in prison so long that when he's released and gets his clothes back, one of his shoes is folded back onto itself because it's been in storage with boxes on top of it in some warehouse for so long.." And De Niro was hooked, and took the part.

Listening to Quentin is almost as good as watching his movies. It's no wonder, as his movies are so much a part of him. When he retires from features, it would be great to see him explore series work, where he could play in a medium that's more novelistic. As a writer who creates worlds, this form of storytelling would fit perfectly with his strengths. He could weave worlds together tangentially in a way not possible with self contained features. He certainly has nothing left to prove, so jumping into that playground would allow him unconstrained creativity without the limitations of studio features as well as the need to conform to traditional box office expectations.
@Will21st2 жыл бұрын
TV will be the next highlight of his stellar career, mark my words.
@JCook3123 Жыл бұрын
I hope both of you are right but I fear he will just retire to live his ideal life without making movies. And in that version of his world I don't see him aspiring to make TV. Obviously he would be great at it, but it almost seems like John Elway joining the Canadian Football League in the year 2000. Not gonna happen. When he says a movie is going to be his final film some day, he means the final thing he will film. Take me to the bank on that one.

The original Pronto, with Peter Falk, and James LeGros is dated, but it is truly adapted from the book of the same name, it is not about Raylan Givens, but Harry Arno. Touch is such a very well acted film, with very sparse dialogue, just the way Elmore Leonard writes. Even Stick, with Burt Reynolds, with a standout performance by Charles Durning, was true to the vision of the original story. All these interpretations are a good watch. I love anything by Elmore Leonard. City Primeval should be great.
