Hell yeah, and with little to no hand-holding. Gen 3 does the same thing and it was awesome. Games after that dedicated to hand-holding, and that's when the series lost it's charm.

The Roar glitch that deletes Raikou/Entei from the save game if they use it in a wild encounter only exists in FireRed and LeafGreen, though I am a little late to save you the anxiety of losing them forever in this run of Crystal

Shiny tyrogue only has a 1% overall chance of coming from the odd egg, so that was very fortunate! If you breed it (after it evolves) with your jynx you have a 1/64 chance to get shiny smoochum (1/128 with electrabuzz and magmar though since the offspring's gender is not locked).

You should do a professor oak challenge in the new pokemon snap, before you move on to the next island, you max out the island you are on and take a picture of every pokemon there. If you want to make it more challenging, you could get every pokemon and take 1-4 star photos for every one of them.

That's a question, can you defeat Claire as part of the grind since she doesn't actually give you the badge until later? Is there an "official" rule about that? As the gym white-out strategy exists, challenging the leader isn't the trigger, but is it defeating them or getting the badge?

I’m pretty sure the Johto rule is that beating Clair ends pre badge-8, with the actual collection of the badge being in pre-Champion

Good point. But either way, defeating the Gym Leader so soon would not necessarily be wise since their high level Pokemon can help with leveling.

Gen II is my favourite generation so I am probably biased, but I also enjoyed this video more than other POC's. Maybe it is just me but I really do not like those long lists of Pokémon rattled off. I always zone out during those parts. This one was actually spread out pretty decently.

Will always be my favorite game! and with the release of celebi on the 3DS; it just makes it even better. Best 10$ I’ve ever spent. Unlimited celebi, all guaranteed 5 max IV’s (with chance at perfect 6) and can be shiny hunted. Albeit at full 1/8192 odds, but still. It’s possible atleast. Only issues I have it the Pokémon availability. Misdreavus only at the literal end of the game, sneasel in the ice cave, etc. my favorites are end game. Limits what you can use on a playthrough.

Awesome video, I am doing a lite version of this same challenge: Must catch all base pokemon available before the next gym leader, and if there is an evolved version available, you must catch it, or evolve to it. Basically I have 0 interest in grinding, but rather an easier way for me to get all 250 before finishing the game.

I did this challenge as well but the way that I ended up doing it was I got Magby from the odd egg which technically lets you get more Pokemon sooner because you can get Tyrogue before the Elite Four no matter what but unless it's the odd egg you can't get Magby until before red

Useful numbers on Crystal are Alan, Gina, Tully and Dana as they give you the Fire Stone, Leaf Stone, Water Stone and Thunder Stone respectively.

I remember on my complete Pokedex run when I tried doing the Daylight Savings trick to get enough Water Stones from I think Fisherman Tully, he always seemed to want a rematch instead. There isn't some limit on them, are they? After a while I got frustrated enough where I traded my Water Stone Pokemon over to Blue and used Water Stones from the Celadon Dept. Store to evolve them. Or was I just extremely unlucky that he was never fishing up Water Stones?

Hello, how about a new challange called follow anime challenge? I request to have first the johto journey done. This means that you have to follow exactly the events in the anime and to catch and use only the pokemon from the anime. Rule: when it is not possible to catch a pokemon, you should trade it from another game (like for the johto starters). In this challange you should include the related movies (for example the movie celebi voice of the forest should be included in the Johto journey, etc..). You have to show briefly the episode and major events while playing the game! You have been challenged , monseiur!

I’m doing a professor Oak challenge but I’ve used the glitch at the start of the game to have all the starters and because of an interaction that glitch has on the Pokédex, I have to therefore get two additional eggs as well as the additional evolutions.

It’s really amazing that you evolved your Golbat at level 23. Mine is level 25 and hasn’t evolved. Am I missing something if you can’t check your friendship before Goldenrod City?

Late but in Crystal walking 512 steps gives a tiny boost to friendship and leveling up in the same area as capture gives a meaty boost to friendship so walking in circles and battling where you caught Zubat will super boost friendship. The walking thing kind of continues in future games but the same area as capture training is exclusive to Crystal.

one strategy i havent seen people employ into these challenges is intentionally losing to trainer battles to rematch them for fast XP gains. Obviously this would only work on trainers with multiple pokemon to fight. I used to do this in Blue version as a kid... lol
