For me it is a masterpiece. It's like judging a Rembrandt or a Claude Monet, or Anita Rachvelishvili in Carmen, or Leonor Bollac in the Sylphide.

Halkina officially got 20.6 (4.8 7.0 0.9 0.3) I tried my best in the handwriting but.. ahem. Anyway you probably know that there are official symbols for all the Difficulty. However, due to the speed of some routines, it's usual to have abbreviations/simplifications for D3-D4. Here I use abbreviation for AD (I usually only write the base symbol which determine the point (ie: roll, throw etc...) and simplified symbols for Risk (only a circle for ''without visual control'' or a line for ''without hand''). What's important is to know what you mean by these symbols. There are no official symbols for Execution penalties, so obviously each judges have their own system. The important is to be able to know what you wrote if you have to explain what you penalised to the Referee or later in Judge Reunion. Finally there is a lot going on in the head (especially for Artistry): checking if all the Fundamental element were performed, checking if there isn't any repetition of rotations, checking if ....etc!

this is my new years gift, Thank you. I was wondering if a judge can feel the routine during the process of score placement. I know that we have different score segments with different groups of judges, but everything remains kinda of connected. It is still one piece. Can you also highlight what is the signature of the artistic score, it is quite vague .

So were you the one who choose the symbols for execution? Or are there symbols that judges normally use? Thank you :)
@saem_rg5 жыл бұрын
@@Laura-jl7vc she wrote that an official shorthand writing doesn't exist for E, so every judge can freely adopt the symbols they best like, but must be able to give reason for their scoring after or during the competition
@Laura-jl7vc5 жыл бұрын
@@saem_rg yes I read that... But although there is no official writing for E, there could be some symbols that are frequently used by judges, that's why I was asking if the ones she used she "made them up" or if she has seen them somewhere else

I had another question: as for groups, but it may also be the case of individuals, how do you judges additionate so fast all the D3/D4 elements' values? I mean in groups you can have more than 20 collaborations or in individuals tons of ADs, so how is it like to calculate without any calculator in such a little time? you must be a wizh at maths to carry it out! 🤯🤯🤓🤓
@saem_rg5 жыл бұрын
I can't believe you listened to me when I asked you to do the short hand writing in a comment long time ago! thank you so much! so it's not possible only to write like R9, you also have to specify how the risk is done in each part! and so is for the ADs! and a question I've always had for artistic execution: how is it possible that a single judge can focus on rhythm, variety in the apparatus handling and in the trajectories/directions, staying in a place for long time, two full/partial body waves, the four fundamentals for each apparatus and ALSO appreciate the musicality and the expression of the gymnast! shouldn't this be done by two separate artistic judges? one considers the artistic faults, and the other focuses on the guiding idea and enjoys the full routine without caring about whether she is doing all the four fundamentals, the trajectories etc... no wonder artistic part is so neglected! thank you again, you made my day 😊😍🙏
@ClematisRGVideos5 жыл бұрын
I finally did! 😊 I prefers to write the maximum indeed (not R9). For the AD I don't write the entire symbol (which normally look like *_symbol(symbol+symbol+etc)_*, I'm only writing the base (sometimes I even use shortcut and simplifications). For the Artistic Part: you learn to do both. I don't think it's an impossible job. Sometimes gymnasts want the judge to focus on the routine and you'll see them doing all the fundamental apparatus and 2 body waves right at the beginning. For the trajectories/variety etc I usually use simple symbol to write the type of throws (for variety), but also, by habit, you can easily recognize a routine that lack variety in apparatus handling or trajectories. Here it's Halkina, so no worries.
@saem_rg5 жыл бұрын
@@ClematisRGVideos got it! I know it's not impossible, and most of the times the four apparatus fundamentals appear during the dance steps so you can recognize them in once, but I think that the artistic judge should really perceive the whole without thinking that has to jot down the waves, the fundamentals, the types of throw etc.. but this is my humble point of view😊 good video anyway, hope you'll also do one of this kind for groups 😁😍
@ClematisRGVideos5 жыл бұрын
@@saem_rg Eh yes. According the the current standard (for example the variety isn't to have different throw in Risk for example but to have at least one throw different) one judge is enough. But if we want to have the standard you're describing (a deep analysis), yes, 2 separate judges would be better.

3.5.1. 4 judges (A1, A2, A3, A4) evaluate the Artistic faults by deduction, determining the total deduction independently and without consulting the other judges;( the highest and the lowest scores are eliminated, and the remaining 2 scores are averaged to give the tinal A-score.) Why do they still have Artistry score puzzles me. For so many many years the Aristry score is the most biased and illogical to me especially the 2009-2012 Code. Of course all the Russian gymnasts would top Artistry score 🙄 I love Russian gymnasts and I do think they're the best overall but I mean come on! I have seen equally great if not better choreography from non Russian gymnasts during that quad and they would never get the exact or higher Artistry score like the Russian gymnasts. 😒
@ClematisRGVideos4 жыл бұрын
Artistry score is puzzling even for experts. The thing is, this code (like the one before, and before, starting from 2009 when Artistry was given an independent score, not only in the name but in the penalties too) this code penalise what is terrible, awful, very poor in Artistry but does not differentiate what is Exceptional / Above average / Average. Thus an average routine getting a similar artistic score as an exceptional one. I don't know if you have ever read the Artistic penalties. There isn't so many and they have a restricted use, especially for groups. Two, biais. Without doubt, famous gymnasts are more likely to be helped a bit. Also factors to be considered: if the judges know or not the music, if they have already seen routines on this music or not, if they know the routine already or not, if it's their first time judging this routine it or not, if they have choreographic knowledge or not. All these variables influence greatly the final scoring. An interesting thing to see is how the Artistic penalties don't really change throughout the season for a routine of top gymnasts (let's say the Averinas or Ashram) when you can see a clear difference in term of musically mastering the routine between the first and last competition (not saying it's perfect but there is usually always an improvement).
