Again, I wish more gringos would take your excellent advice. Having a car is the #1 way to reduce security stress in Colombia. Americans happily walk around neighborhoods that might look safe, without realizing that they're food for motorcycle thieves. The more doors you have between yourself and the outside world in Colombia, the safer you'll be. But like you said, it's kinda dull to live like that.

I'm an upper-class colombiano man, and the way we avoid getting robbed, kidnapped, or deleted: First, we only socialize and date within an exclusive social circle. We don't participate in massive events. We never walk, take taxis or public transportation. We only drive, or we get dropped off and pick up in front of restaurants by Uber. Because it attracts Gringo men, therefore criminals, (S) workers, and hood people, we would never go to places like (parke lleras) la 70, or provenza. We don't bottom feed on (S) workers or Gang Members accomplice women from the hoods who usually want to Scopolamine you, robbed, and sometimes delete you.

@@albrinks4017 You are ignorant and need to stay in your foreign country. There are lots of gay and lesbian Colombians living in Colombia. I have met Colombians at the Pride parade in Madrid, Spain. Medellin has a Pride parade every year and I want to go next year.

Great advice. As a Physician I have friends who are surgeons in Medellin. They have closed networks of friends and outsiders are not permitted in. We do events at their Apts, fincas etc.. and rarely go out to just a few trusted spots. Discos and bars are a no no unless you are bringing security which I've seen happen only once with this group. I have learned so much from them about how to avoid issues. That said Medellin is super dangerous now as Petro continues to further impoverish an already poor country.

Would love to hear more about your take from your time spent in Cartagena/ Barranquilla where I live now. I'm sure you noticed because of the heat people do not dress as formal here as in Bogota/Medellin. Literally everyone is wearing shorts and flip flops regardless of class. I see lots of Colombian driving Mercedes, Porsche, BMW everywhere including parked at the Centro Commercials. There is a gritty side of Barranquilla and even some neighborhoods without roads with squatters, the very, very poor and a healthy mix of very wealthy as well. I have walked a lot of streets here and always felt safe. Of course, I speak Spanish and a some of time I'm with my Colombian girlfriend who was born in Barranquilla but has lived for a long time in Cucuta and has a wonderful normal family. Having been once to Bogota, I definitely can see a big difference here in the Coasteno people of the Caribbean Coast even in the way they talk. And Santa Marta seems to be a vacation playground for the Wealthy Colombians from the bigger Cities with lots of amazing activities for adventures both in the beautiful Ocean or up in the Mountains. Yet not many tourists other than hippy backpackers is much different from all the tourism in Cartagena.

This video is 100% spot on about being safe in Colombia. My wife and I own an apartment in El Tesoro and it is heaven to be there fresh and green. Not a lot of action, just peaceful. It is very true that once you step away from the high tourist areas your safety icreases dramatically. The issue is what are you doing in Colombia, the settled life works well for me because I am married and and in my 50's, also places like Rionegro or llanogrande are even further removed from the excitement of Medellin, if you are looking to be the 2 week millionaire, safety should be a big concern because the safest areas are the most boring so to speak and offer little to the person looking to party or find women. Rionegro or Llanogrande are family type areas.

I remember an earlier video you did in which you talked about the disguises that some rich people will wear in order to fly under the radar. You mentioned things like wigs & aliases (with ID to match). I'd like to hear more about that. Btw, I've met some well-heeled people here in Medellin who have bodyguards & armed security 24/7. It's pretty damn cool. Definitely makes you feel safe & important.

Hey bro hope all is well in Colombia if you're still there, specifically those were people extremely wanted by police and/or enemies. And it definitely is most people that can afford it go for it. A lot of people just end up using it as an Uber as well take the kids to school etc.

@@BushidoNomad Yes, I'm still in Medellin and so far nothing too bad has happened. But I've mostly been keeping to myself. I'd love to hear some stories about those "wanted" people & their enemies. But I imagine that's also a sensitive subject. As you can tell my username, I love stories about bandits😁

That's good to hear bro yes it's a very interesting topic there's a lot of small news organizations that post about those type of topics but putting it on youtube in English and bringing some interntional attention would potentially be problematic. If you search cwmasnoticias and alertapaisarcn on IG they report on the darker stuff that usually gets swept under the rug.

Locals are used to that.For a foreigner or tourism it might be a little bit boring if you have to live like that. For sure it looks like great tips to apply.Always watching over your shoulder must be annoying. It sounds like you have to move as if you were a celebrity to enjoy a normal life. That exclusivity can get boring real quick for many people. It is what is safety first in a country like that.These upperclassman Colombian probably wont accept gringos in balance of probabilities.Seems like you would almost have to create your own network of high class gringos and don't mingle with the locals.

Thieves still go up to El Tesoro. I thought the wealthy people of Medellin live in las Palmas or out in Llanogrande. The celebrities and politicians have homes in Llanogrande. Envigado is safer than Medellin. The rumor is that the thieves don't go to Envigado because it's still protected by the cartel, Oficina de Envigado.
@BushidoNomad

Good info bro, el Tesoro is mutilple times safer than el poblado but then once you go to Llanogrande that's a whole nother level and a very bad idea to try to rob there lol. Envigado has always kept the highest level of decency between medellin, itagui, bello, copacabana etc.

When you live in Colombia for a while you realize that in all the big cities, mass public transport does not go into the rich areas. It's difficult to get to Tesoro. Bucaramanga is the same. That is done on purpose.
