How Roblox “Fixed” Its Character Problem

wondered how to make a main menu in roblox studio? or how to create a shop which has working GUI? ive made lots of 2024 roblox scripting tutorials about all the different bits of roblox to give you some up-to-date information about all of its properties and events.
my goal is to simply give some insight on how to use the various features and instances roblox studio, and show you some fun stuff you can do with them. thanks for checking out this roblox scripting tutorial :)

there is ways to remove the humanoid root part without affecting the player much and it is used in some exploits for bypassing anticheats because if the anti cheat can't find the humanoid root part (which is what a lot of anti cheats check for when detecting flying or like teleporting etc) then it breaks, if the anti cheat is not well made. the basic method iirc that exploits use is parenting the character to nil then deleting the humanoidrootpart, then moving the character back, which i believe is something only exploits can do as normal scripts cannot access nil instances

Torso needs to be attached to something to be animated, thats why humanoidrootpart is needed for animations. (In R6 every limb is attached to torso) Other than that movement, camera CFrame, camera Offset is all calculated using this part as its the position of the character assembly even when animated. funfact: humanoids are calculated using the physics engine, so anchoring any of the limbs (preferably humrootpart) death will not be calculated aswell

This is true because you can test this out in Build a Boat for Treasure and when you hit a rock with your body a body part will get deleted until you die, so you can make your humanoid root part get hit then you wouldn't be able to move until you reset and your body will still be moving from the conveyer where the water is until you eventually die.

In classic games, the humanoidrootpart was a problem for npcs in a game if you had a delete tool, as you could only delete the HRP, and thr npc would just be crippled/disarmed. Good times.

Here is a fact you might not have known! The numbers in “R6” and “R15” actually specify how many body parts there are in the rig, for example. R6 has the Head, Left arm, right arm, left leg, and right leg, and the torso, that would be 6 body parts in the rig! The HRP doesn’t count as a body part

You may have seen Caleb’s comment but I used to think R6 stood for Roblox rig in 2006, and R15 stood for Roblox rig in 2015.

Another thing, mostly unrelated but comes up in the part where you make a teleport script Joint instances (Welds, Motors, etc) have strange behaviour with having either their Part0 or Part1's position/orientation updated. Sometimes it can result in absolutely nothing happening, and sometimes it results in the joint being voided entirely (not sure where the difference comes from). But, you can avoid this by setting the CFrame of an object, which preserves all existing joints and thus has the expected behaviour. tldr; you can teleport using any part of the player so long as you set its CFrame

@@toolifystudios Roblox studio forces R15 by default. There’s no global toggle, if you don’t want to force one type you have to manually change it for every game.

Another thing that the HumanoidRootPart is responsible for that you forgot to mention is this video is not only the movement, but also the camera. People think that the camera is inside of the character's head, but if we modify the character, and move the root part way back, you will see that the player's body is far away from where you can pivot your camera, even in first person. Edit: Oh, and yeah, you can also spin your character's model around the root part as well if you do this.

r6 and r15 have two different meanings, r6 means u have 6 body parts, left arm, right arm, left leg, right leg, head, torso, r15 visa versa, however HRP is not a valid part in that r6 and r15 body, HRP is just an add on for it

Btw never change the position of humanoidrootpart. Change the cframe instead. This can cause a lot of desync bugs

Good point. I’ll mention though that sometimes changing the cframe might cause issues when changing position doesn’t, so keep that in mind

@@byteblox100 when it comes to humanoid root part, always change the cframe, because the position between the client and server will desync. I dont know of any examples where cframe would cause errors while position wouldnt, as it is overall more reliable. If you try to change the position of humanoid root part it will look perfectly fine on the client, but when you go to server side and select the character model you can see that the overall model was teleported while the hrp was at its original position and would remain in such an offset.

My opinion for me is ILL ALWAYS USE R6 on my avatars and lock the ppls avatars on R6 on my games. Why? 1st if you have R15 avatar and goes toa game with locked R6 avatars literally ur layered clothing will be gone, on the developing side i used r6 on my games too so ppls can't cheat using bugs like for their uh avatar sizes,i have a friend who has R15 small avatar LIKE RLY SMALL and can glitch everything.

yea i guess though some people dont know that even headless head still has a head it's just shoved in the torso and is like 1/10,000th of a stud in volume the head hitbox still exists in the same place that a normal head would though and r15 doesnt even have a head hitbox tbh i thought this video would actually teach people about roblox character hitboxes (fun fact but only very few body parts act okay it cut off the end of my message wow that sucks let me retype it fun fact: but only very few body parts actually have collision in roblox. R6: HumanoidRootPart, Head, and Torso R15: HumanoidRootPart, UpperTorso, and LowerTorso (yes, there is no head hitbox in r15) roblox uses something called HipHeight to determine how much to raise your character off the ground. Also fun R6 glitch: if you are ragdolled and unable to get up (i.e. stuck under something) for a certain period of time, roblox will actually remove your head hitbox to help you get up, which can be used to squeeze and walk comfortably in 2 stud spaces, aswell as climb on upside down wedges for some reason. neat!
