I’m commenting before watching the whole thing so don’t know if you clocked it but the Trickster was actually name dropped in Ncuti’s season by Harriet Arbinger as a member of *The Pantheon* and is officially the ‘God of Traps’

The fact that the trickster is significantly more frightening than the majority of whoniverse creatures even though they are associated with 'child friendly' SJA will forever crack me up 🤣

Impressed by Yasmin who as Maria had to lead most of the first episode , it's a big moral dilemma with the Trickster offering life to Andrea - who died in a pointless accident - at the expense of everyone else , and Sarah Jane in particular . The young cast compliment Liz Sladen and Jane Asher so well . In the end Andrea did the right thing but will be remembered .Glad Ugo is reacting to these .

Ahhh you have been introduced to my favourite villain in the Whoniverse! The Trickster was the nightmare of my childhood, definitely onoe of the best SJA episodes!

The Graske we see in this was played by Jimmy Vee, who also played Bannakaffalatta in Voyage of the Damned, as well as appearing as the Graske in the first Proms.

The small alien is a Graske, from Invasion of the Graske, a 10th Doctor story (right after The Christmas Invasion) that no one ever reacts to because it's not on the DVDs etc. It's on KZbin though, I think. It was a cute interactive story where YOU are the Companion and I guess it was on BBC iplayer?

Think it was the BBC red button at that time.

Think it was originally on the red button immediately after the Christmas Invasion - remember having to pick the button I wanted to do from the 4 colours on a standard remote at the time. 😅

It's funny you said The Trickster gave you Utopia vibes. As the actor played one of the human kind cannibals in Utopia!

Hey Ugo. The actress is the wonderful Jane Asher. Give her a quick Google, she's a lovely, interesting, talented human! x

I've been looking forward to this one. The Trickster is one the best villains in all of Who.

This might be a bit much to ask Ugo, but once you finish SJA Series 1 I'd recommend using the following SJA slot to go back and watch her first ever classic Doctor Who story, 'The Time Warrior' from 1974. I (and many others) would love to see you reacting to classic, it's quite an accessible one, and I think that particular story is relevant as it would cast a new light onto some shortly-upcoming stories in both SJA Series 2 and NuWho Series 4. 😊😊😊

Oh yes. Watching the Sarah Jane era.👍. A SJ episode from her era that is also helpful is Genesis of the Daleks 😊. Time Warrior is a good start

Agreed she needs a Doctor 😂. But if she died in 64 when the Doctor first started hanging out on earth, than he never met her 😢

Jame Asher is probably more well known for being Paul McCartney's girlfriend in the 1960s. For that I was a bit sniffy about her casting in the SJA but she plays a blinder as Andrea and it turns out she has a very impressive body of work. She and Lis Sladen are just stunning actors and the subject matter here is really rather deep for what you could write off as a kid's show. And it just keeps going there. This, for me, is what children's TV should be: tackling serious dilemmas, real emotions and so on/ This show for me is way more adult than the first series of Torchwood.
