Money talks, if you don't know how to trap someone with finances then you've never worked with an abusive and demanding employer who waves your job/contract above your head as soft threats without saying the words and being liable, the less you say the more you say and both parties understand the situation, it's a power play. If you have no value or real need of money then this "charm" doesn't affect you, but 98.99% of the world's population rely on it and will k(ee)l the person on their right to get some.

Regardless of how you feel about Saudi Arabia political/culturally for the Sports of MMA and especially Boxing, they have only helped it greatly. Without the Saudis, all of these top ranked heavyweights would have never fought each other until they were old and out of their primes when it didn't matter like Floyd V pacquiao. I hope we see them help usher in more change for the world of boxing and MMA as whole in a positive direction

It’s always ironic to me when people have to adress saudi arabia politically and culturally when the the biggest boxing events were in countries like usa and england (the people saying this are sometimes from there too) and people never talk about those countries as if saudi is worse or anywhere near em lol

@hs1798

@@matepavic6929 so because it’s by the government sportswashing is 100% the motive? I don’t think so tbh, I think their motive is the same as the goal of their other events even outside of sports and that is to bring in money, tourists and increase gdp etc. As for boxing events not being made by the government in england, usa and other countries, I’ll admit that you make a fair point. But still hearing the people who talk about it acting so dramatic, distraught and morally perfect when they’re from the countries I listed and they support those governments is still funny to me
@matepavic6929
@matepavic6929 10 ай бұрын
@@hs1798 I'm not saying it's 100% the motivation behind it, but if you think it's not primary reason, you need to learn more about geopolitical situation and gulf states and their role in the whole thing. Yes, tourists and business do help, but reasons why people don't come there already in number Saudi's want is the reason why they bring sport there. MMAI and Morning combat all have videos on this, they are about MMA side of things, but it's essentially the same.

I agree a lot with the things you said. The pros of this saudi merger with boxing is that we are getting the big fights we've always wanted like Bivol vs Beterbiev, Usyk vs Fury and other great matchups. On the flip side, I don't enjoy the atmosphere of the events and they do feel very dead and hollow. The arena is always dead quiet, even when the main event is about to start. I also don't like the performances and random concerts that we have to go through for no apparent reason. Luckily there was none of that in the day of reckoning card and I don't think there will be anymore concerts in upcoming events, at least I hope not. Also, I hope the saudis can come up with a way to unify all the belts so that all boxers fight for one undisputed belt rather than 4.

They’ve hosted KZbin events and a heavyweight division that lets face it, is sorely lacking in talent compared to other eras. How come all the other weight classes aren’t lining up for Saudi. You don’t see the canelo, Crawfords, erol spence, tank, Enis lining up for Saudi. All they are hosting are KZbinrs and a poor heavyweight division. But hey that’s just my opinion 🤷🏾

It seems the american and mexican boxing scene don't want to do business with the saudis. I think they want North America to stay the place for boxing. If they accept the saudi's deals like Hearn and Warren who are basically his employees now, he will end up with more control over the boxing world than Dana White has over the UFC. It’s simple, give the consumer the product they want with no bias intentions other than producing the best product possible. Monopolies ruin everything because it creates a void of competition. The Saudis become a force in pro golf within 3 years and gave the well established PGA no choice but to get on board. No more bs ppv events with a star fighter vs a lesser competitor with an undercard full of sub par less known fighters. Boxing fans protect him at all costs.

I dont think Saudi Arabia needs to worry about sustainability or ppv buys for at least a few years. They are spending billions on top of billions right now in hopes of stimulating the economy down the line and i think theyre following the same gameplan for ppv sales: put on banger events one after another for a loss for the first couple years, eventually the returns will start coming in whether it be in ppv sales or just stimulating tourism to the country. Basically the same thing amazon did in its rise: invest every penny they earned for years to keep building their business and then focusing on profit and monetization once they start dominating their industry. With the other "negative" things ppl point out like sportswashing or the lack of loud fans cheering, I couldnt care less as long as the big fights are happening 🤣 Fights like Haney vs Tank or Joshua vs Fury are so big i would pay to watch them scrap in a garage with noone around if that was the only option.

Saudis taking over boxing and football, and its fine by me. its better to hear the soulful *YA ALLAH YA HABIBI WHAT A KNOCKOUT/GOAL MASALLAH* commentary, then hearing some annoying brit accent commentary hahah :D

part of its sportswashing, but also partly i think the saudis are acutley aware that they cant be a petrostate forever. One way or another, the world will move away from hydrocarbons eventually. The saudis want a developed service, tourism and entertainment sector before then, and so investing billions and billions on megaprojects and sports is trying to build a model of what the gulf states will look like in a post oil world.

I remember watching a video that claimed countries like US which rely on Saudi's oil have started to innovate energy production (following the recent Russia-Ukraine conflict) and are now less inclined to protect Saudi Arabia from its multitude of enemies that stemmed from its shaky hold on authority, history, relying on Western powers, etc. (IIRC) Seeing that their beloved oil exports could be in a downward trend in the upcoming decades, pursuing other means to stay afloat would be the obvious move to make. Their Vision 2030 is their way to turn SA into a tourist destination, and Boxing seems to be the sport that fits their agenda. Not complaining as a boxing fan, but knowing the context behind their actions does give you some mixed feelings.

More people need to know about sportswashing. Athletes and celebrities need to stop promoting these inhumane countries. You would think they have enough money already but I guess not. Sellouts.

Tbh I'm more disappointed at TJlovesfights, you could argue that maybe not all the celebs are informed on these matters but Tj clearly is, as he has insinuated multiple times in the vid. He doesnt even have the balls to share the inhuman crimes these people committed and he calls it a "boss move" that the prince doesnt even care. Just pathetic, man.

The 2 most famous boxing events in history, Rumble in the Jungle and The Thrilla in Manila, were sportswashing. Sportswashing has been around long before the term was coined, and it's gonna stay. I don't like it but it's the reality.
