He invokes the 'god of the gaps' to comfort his ego.

Some form of god has been used to explain the mysteries of life yet slowly, slowly we’ve worked them out for ourselves without any evidence of a god. The evidence points to that with enough time and understand we’ll figure out more and more. Everything we figure out is an another nail in the coffin of theism.

He really should understand math better ... We can't calculate the probability of something we don't fully understand. That's what's impossible. And a perfect being will mathematically always be less probable than a good enough cosmic seed.

If we cannot calculate the probability of something we don't fully understand then how do we know a perfect being will mathematically always be less probable than a good enough cosmic seed?
@iljuro4 ай бұрын
@@questioneveryclaim1159 Good enough will always be an approximation, perfection is exact. Basic math tells us that no matter how small the approximation is, it will always be larger than exact.

@@questioneveryclaim1159 cos we have "stuff" in great numbers, we have no "perfect beings" at all. it's not rocket science. produce me a perfect being and i will concede.

Even if one concedes that an intelligent, timeless Creator made life, the Universe, and all the greatness therein, that gets you nowhere close in proving that this God has a Hell and eternal damnation awaiting those who don't believe in Jesus. That this God desires praise and worship. That this God has human attributes such as caring and that this God cares about you or anyone else. You are still on the same ground as any atheist stands upon. You have proven nothing.

That's silly. As soon as one considers God's existence to be credible, one can begin to consider whether and how he has communicated with mankind. Recognizing his existence is indeed a huge step.

@@DrakRahi god probably prefers atheists, you do realise that, no? and don't you find it odd that atheists don't threaten to burn people alive for eternity if you don't sign up, basically you can just carry on as usual if you don't want to join. doesn't that indicate god might be scamming you?

Materialistic atheism without an appreciation of quantum physics & the vast dynamic complexity of 'simple cells' is pure unreasoning dogma. Kudos to this guy for his humility before the facts.

That’s absolute fucking nonsense, you know that, right?

it should be "materialist atheism" if you want correct english, but materialists and atheists don't necessarily go together. and i notice mister garte isn't on any actual science channels, i always get my cosmology news from christians channels. duh.

This "former atheist" articulates so many fallacies it's laughable. 1) Science has a spiritual quality. Well, no. Science is simply the scientific method of explaining the world. No spirituality there, so fallacy number one. 2) He feels that HIS materialistic, reductionist view is the view anyone else has, so fallacy number two. 3) He claims that atheists say "I don't believe in god I believe in science". Nope. Atheists say, I don't believe in god because there's no evidence for god and if they say anything more they say, "I believe in evidence". He's misrepresenting what he feels atheists say. So fallacy number three. 4) "I don't believe in goats I believe in sheep". That's so idiotic, it doesn't deserve a comment. 5) "Everything is easily explained by a group of equations". Nope yet again. Thae's not what my teachers said, except maybe in his mind. So, fallacy number 5. 6) "we'll never know..." Wow. That's a whopper. If you claim we'll never know something, then you have to prop that up with evidence. He presents no evidence, just his bless feelings, so fallacy number 6. His reaction to how proteins area made is a classic god of the gaps fallacy. Boy he's not a great thinker. 7) He doesn't realize that the definition of science is uncertainty. Number 7. Conclusion: he's not a great thinker and maybe not such as great scientist.

i love these "i used to be an awful atheist" stories, but although they admit to doing drugs and having excessive sex they never seem to say "also i was untrustworthy and a compulsive liar"
