And, given how things are right now, it's normal-and honestly, necessary-to believe two things: 1. All men are potential perpetrators, and 2. Once someone commits a crime, their right to privacy is gone. If you're bold enough to commit these se#ual crimes, then you should face the consequences. I'm exhausted from constantly having to tiptoe around words just to avoid offending the 'good' men who don't commit crimes.

AI and machine learning have been in use at big tech companies for a decade or more if you count simpler machine learning algorithms. It was their release to the general public, and specially LLMs trained on large datasets, that started the hype cycle. They’ve always been insanely valuable and their developers had no ill intent. If you’re talking about a specific tool, like a website that says “upload a photo and we’ll make porn from it” then of course, that is illegal and the people associated with the site will be convicted easily. I feel sorry for the victims, but I would like to point out the reporting behavior of the Korean media from a larger perspective. Since I am very interested in Korea, I get news about Korea through various media (mainly KZbin), but the Korean media tends to report exaggeratedly. Most of the news is filled with sensational crime news. I have even seen minor assaults or thefts reported very seriously on national news. Such sensational reporting may be the people's right to know, but when it goes too far, it increases social anxiety and destroys mutual trust. And I am watching that in real time right now.

But in this case it's the opposite. The korean media is NOT taking this matter seriously enough. Hundreds of korean women were begging for the journalists to cover this issue for weeks and they just refused to, until the korean women were able to spread awareness through social media and other countries started talking about it, but even now korean media barely report this compared to some very very very minor issues that they make a big deal.

This is not that big of an issue in Korea. Sure, it made a few headlines for a couple of days in the news portals. Those perpetrators, if minors, will face no punishment. NIL. Even if they're adults, they may get probation to maybe a year in prison. The real issues Koreans talk about on a daily basis is more concerning the absurdly weak consequences for any crime committed. You can have several drunk driving records and eventually kill a few people, yet the system will slap you on the wrist with maybe 5 years prison max? You can rape minors over a span of decade or so, and maybe you'll get 5 years? Korea desperately needs law reform. But it won't happen. Why is that? Maybe Asian Boss can do some actual reporting with tackling such topic. This type interview format you put up surely informs the world with diverse views, but some like this particular one you posted today is pure lazy journalism.
@plumpdolphin2 ай бұрын
Although I can agree that there are more fundamental problems with the Korean judicial system, with even convicted offenders receiving little to no jail time, I disagree in saying that this is lazy journalism or unimportant. The deepfake controversy is a relatively famous issue now when discussing AI legislation, which is becoming an increasingly important industry of regulation, and this video comes on the heels of yet another telegram bust only a week ago (likely close to when this was filmed). Due to the ready availability and anonymity of the crime, it's becoming a major issue. And it's not just with adults but with children as well. There are several instances of individuals deepfaking children, including prominent figures such as K-pop idols, into pornographic content which is beyond abhorrent. So, as much as the rest of the problems you mentioned are very important--and potentially more hazardous to people's physical well-being, this seems to remain very relevant to solving the issues of sex crimes in our country.

Impressed by how intelligent and level headed the Koreans were during the interview at the end, they thought rationally and considered different viewpoints, even realizing that just giving the government blanket surveillance wouldn't really help as perps will just switch to even more underground software - their education system is obviously doing something well that us in the west lack! Imagine if they'd interviewed people from the USA or the UK of similar demographics and you'd have hysterical nonsense. I think the girls at the end had a good idea, preventative education but make it clear - doing this deepfaking is a crime, you will be investigated, and if you are caught punishment will be severe! But this deepfake issue (same with the hidden cam hotel scandals) are part of a deeper issue in society IMO - such as S Koreans starting to Lie Flat / become Hikikomori - if S Korean dating lives were more healthy people perhaps wouldn't feel the need to do this deepfake nonsense. And a big part of that is cracking down on 996 wage slavery - of course people can't date if they are working 9am - 9pm 6 days a week to barely afford a tiny apartment - how will romance happen then? Until the S Korean government makes life more fair and tolerable for the young and lower income, they will continue to have all these problems. Of course there will always be the minority who will do it regardless - but then policework and prison should sort that out.

I think deepfake porn could be a blessing in disguise that women should welcome. The more common it becomes, the less impactful things like revenge porn or a previous career in the adult industry will be. Think about it: let's say you're worried about your chances of getting or keeping a particular job because maybe you worked in porn in the past or you have an ex who couldn't deal with the break-up like an adult and decided to post intimate pictures of you online. You now have an easy way out of it. If people ask, just say someone must have lifted your face from pictures in social media and used an AI prompt to make deepfake porn of you. Even if real pictures of you have been leaked, you can blame online perverts with AI and have more than plausible deniability. The more common it becomes, the more aware employers, co-workers, family and friends will be and will probably just be sympathetic since it could happen to anyone. And if you don't have a sordid past at all, then you can blame the same thing.

Revenge porn is much less prevalent than deepfake porn. In the end this will be worse for more people. It is definitely no blessing in any way. People affected by this are not looking for an easy way out, most of these people are deeply effected by this. If you haven't noticed, I want to point out to you that these women were essentially saying they would rather avoid everyday life in case they would find out someone misused their trust in society. On a second thought your suggestion is deeply sickening, you're essentially suggesting we should have such images of all women so that it doesn't really matter anymore, but until we reach this point we will have a mass exodus of women.

@sevenproxies42552 ай бұрын
@@t1sk1jukka It's going to be normalized whether you want to or not. You can't legislate away the advancement of technology. Throughout history we have all had to adapt to technology and almost never the other way around. I'm not trying to encourage or normalize bad behaviour. I'm coming up with a plan that deflates the harm women could suffer by the practice. So you can either take my advice, or continue being angry at deepfakes being made... Forever. Because it will never stop, no matter what you do or what society does. The genie is out of the bottle. You can't put it back inside.
