@@Jess-ew3tm if it hadn't been for Richard almost a year ago I would still be in the toxic soup , he has helped me identify and understand the ways they work and why it is very sinister and damaging to healthy people. It realy doesn't matter the reasons for their actions, it's the realisation that you are a target , a type of fuel and how quickly your devalued when your running on empty because of their attention seeking . I set my abuser up months ago and as sure as the sky is blue he started to look for other fuel in a frantic effort to fill the tank , just distancing myself was enough to see the same repeat behavoiur from the beginning when he tried to convince me I was who he wanted and no one else. Leaving and distancing yourself creates a barrier and a strong message that you have boundaries and you are the healthy one , it doesn't matter how much you try for them you have to be true to yourself , some days I wake up and it's there in my mind the in justice of it all . Richard has helped me come to terms with that fact and how to move forward . We'd all like a quick fix but the trick is to replace the negative with a possitive a bit at a time , so easy to obsess over the abuser because it's injustice . The best way to disarm these types is don't give them your time / fuel , it's hard but remember they can't change something they know nothing about themselves ,they want to use people steel their identities worth, personality your life . Love and hugs Jessey coming to you survive and thrive , that's how you show a toxic person who you realy are x

Great way if summing it up. It's very very easy, almost addictive to look backwards, because we cannot change it, therefore it's a cheat. It's great to understand the mechanisms of the past, but not to build a house on them.
@NewYorkNadia
@NewYorkNadia 4 жыл бұрын
Jeannie Har Those “why” questions CAN be answered, actually; it takes a lot of work, but it’s worth it imo. Once you understand why you keep repeating patterns, you can break them. The key is to understand without getting stuck there. People who aren’t in touch with their self-sabotaging beliefs can’t overcome them; they WILL creep back up on you until you can identify them, understand where they come from, dismantle them and reframe them. People who try to change behavior without understanding their old drivers might be able to change their behavior temporarily, but it won’t be sustainable, because the root causes of the dysfunctional behavior aren’t addressed.
@jeepingypsy3482
@jeepingypsy3482 4 жыл бұрын
@@NewYorkNadia I do agree with you! You learn from the past, it's data for understanding yourself better and recognizing what you need to change within yourself. This video resonated with me because I have been obsessing on understanding Narcissim for the past 3 months in order to validate that I was abused. It's time to just trust gut, my therapists, and people that care, all of which say I was in a toxic relationship - and finally move forward and out of the problem.
@NewYorkNadia
@NewYorkNadia 4 жыл бұрын
@@jeepingypsy3482 Got it. Now, the question is why you allowed yourself to stay in an abusive relationship. Understanding THAT - you and your drivers - is what will free you from repeating the pattern. Until you get to the bottom of that, you'll end up repeating it. A great book on this subject is "Will I Ever Be Good Enough?" by Dr. Karyl McBride. The person you need to understand is yourself, not the other. Best of luck!

This is great! For some reason I was under the impression from past videos that you weren't really into frequency/vibrations...I'm excited that you are! Your video hit home. Lately, I've been thinking about how even things that are meant for healing such as chat groups, etc, serve a purpose, but there are times we outgrow those as well and need to move forward to a better place. I follow narcissistic FB pages meant for healing and sharing stories and have realized that when I read some of the scenarios, I can feel myself dip in my joy level (my frequency) because I'm being taken back to that mindset of dealing with NPD and Cluster B situations. Don't get me wrong, they serve a purpose (obviously...you have helped me tremendously!), but there is a time to heal and then to fully take back your energy. I feel like I've healed to a point where I no longer have "room" to entertain these topics at all and would rather focus on moving forward and creating the life I want and enjoy. I think we can even get attached to our healing process...almost addicted to it. Instead of ultimately moving away from it we even get caught up in the cycle of venting, rumination, telling those stories over and over again and continually cycling through the healing process. I find this to be true when I see others, and myself, become "thinkers" instead of "doers", basically supporting your comment about repeatedly reliving the episode over and over again under the guise of healing. The intention to heal is needed and must happen...but, we also need to move out of that space and create an even greater intention. Hope that makes sense. Just something I was thinking about for myself and your video pushed me ahead even further! Great video, Richard. Thank you!

This video spends time on 2 main themes: 1) Negative criticism of thinking about past events. 2) Promoting setting intent. Setting intent and thereby clarifying it is always helpful for the reasons Richard gives. I totally agree with this. Being adversely affected by bad parenting or by traumatic events in childhood needs to be taken seriously to be understood and addressed. Richard has shown insight on how to address this in previous videos, but it seems here to have been forgotten or dismissed in the negative description of how people are affected by their past experiences. I would have liked this video to focus on (2) and to cut out most references on (1).

I remember your videos on not getting lost in “story.” I find if I have a “good enough” explanation I can move forward more easily. We have to take up the burden of transformation ourselves as the path ahead won’t be found looking backward. Of course there has to be a kind of reckoning, and the grief that comes with that. Then transformation can begin. Thank you as always!

It helps a person to remember what is said (speaking for myself) when you have a beautiful, natural background. Thanks for the great work of content and visuals. This is the first time I have heard the concept of intent. People speak of goals but they seem unattainable to a person who is overwhelmed. A person with anxiety or cptsd has enough to deal with, daily. Intent has a different inference. Genius concept and well presented! Thank you Richard. Love is all. It was voting day, yesterday. I went to vote and was presented with a grouchy old man who claimed to be in charge and was very upset with me for asking a question. I voted and left wondering why he was so abrasive. I was not feeling well and also depressed. I decided to go back to the voting ward bringing cakes and wishing them well. I thanked them and told them I was a nearby neighbor. Instead of trying to decipher his unusual and negative response, I brought back some treats and wished him and all of them well. Any negative experience we encounter depends on our response. All too often, it is the other person's problem, if you were an innocent bystander or unintentionally involved. Intent can make it far better to focus on personal achievements, than to spend time ruminating on people's senseless reactions. Possibly, this would help with triggers and becoming more mindful.

A few years ago, my Old Lady kicked me out of the house we lived in with our kids. I started following the Grateful Dead-or, at least, the surging members. It was a major turning point in my life. The music is miraculously inspiring-profound & timeless stories combined with the mysterious, ageless rhythms & melodies of American folk music/free-flowing improvisation. Warlocks indeed. Many people think of the Dead as a band from the past-nostalgic for aging baby boomers. Quite the opposite. No matter how old the music is, when I think of the Grateful Dead, I think of the future. After all, every time they play a song, it’s never played the same way twice. Always new. That’s how I reset my intention.

I first learnt about Narcissism from you, a couple of years ago, since then I've gone onto learning about it as a disorder and how the significant adults and carers in my life were Narcs. At times it's been like a living hell because I had to stop the wishful thinking about them changing, since then I've done a lot of work on myself and feel that the dirty and hard work has been done. One of the things, I've had to do is re-visit those relationships which needed closure and put to sleep the little girl who keeps asking 'why and wants to be taken care of?' I'm an adult now and I have to live my life in the present and create my future. Thank you.

Excellent content!! You asked for feedback: as a reality junkie, I wouldn't use the word "magical" because I think people respond better when they learn how things really work. My local neuroscientist lectured on the two areas of brain anatomy that function in tandem and are responsible for ruminative thinking and social relationships. We are adapted to continuously check-in with people that we see and re-calibrate our identity in light of new information (even if that face is our own.) Social media has thrown us into overload with this system in much the same way cancer forms tumors through the unchecked growth of cells. As a newborn, the brain starts out almost blank and each bit of incoming information connects up a neural synapse. They are set up to basically be connected forever. We can't actually forget or unlearn behavior and experiences because the physical connections between neurons are still there. The good news is, our brains have billions of synaptic connections waiting to be made! Our anatomy has the plasticity to learn new behaviors on top of the old ones, filled with healthy habits. This plasticity enabled humans to live in every habitat and diet on the planet and thrive. In our complicated modern world, intentional behavior changes can be perceived as overwhelming. Personally, I find it easiest to think in terms of minutes; what would I like to do with the few minutes I'm in right now? I can ask myself if an activity is worth my minutes? This breaks time down into manageable quantities and also keeps me in 'the now', aka mindfulness. I suspect that's why your 'emotional flashback' app works so well.

1. "All is Mind." Everything that happens has to be a result of a mental state which precedes it. For anything to exist, thoughts had to form first, which then form physical reality or manifestation. " Setting a productive mental schedule is difficult when you’ve been conditioned with various “triggers” like Pavlov’s dogs. Sights, sounds, smells and combined sensations work to alter your mental state because they attract you towards past trauma and then set you in a similar mental state as the one experienced inside that trauma. They don’t teach real psychology in school because they don’t want you to understand the science of the mind. They want order followers, consumers, tax cattle and degenerates. No nation could persevere it’s freedom in the midst of continual warfare. ~James Madison This is true on the micro and macro levels. They create warfare in all of the bodies of a “man” so that when the time comes to defeat you you have already done the work for them.

Whilst I agree setting intent and focussing on a love vibration *would* change my life I'm finding it super hard to put into practice since the past, for me, is not just in the past but is getting relived over and over again through repeated dynamics that cause fresh pain in the here and now. For example, I tend to attract bullies in to my life - I try too hard with people, I apologise too much etc and it makes a certain type of person want to really come down on me. Regularly finding myself in situations with bullies combined with being a bit of a social outcast (partly social awkwardness and partly groupthink, so if one or two popular people in an institution such as the workplace write you off as not worth bothering with, the others tend to follow suite) can really take me to a bad headspace where it's hard to feel happy and goal-focussed or connected to a love vibration. I feel there's some negative patterns I need to somehow break before I can be more in control of having a more positive mindset to guide my daily life.

I bet lots of people have been in the situation you describe. The leap to focusing on intent is too great from your starting point. I think the best thing for someone in your situation is to have the goal in mind of making yourself stronger... in all areas of life. Physical strength is a great place to start and will make a shift to mental strength much easier. From there you can start setting healthy boundaries, and increasing your self confidence. In order to love you have to first have strength. Becoming strong, fearsome even, would be a good thing to aim for as long as you are clear that it's not the end point, but a step along the way.

@Emily you could start by one or two simple things like "I will no longer apologize too much" and work on that. If you make a mistake, apologize once and that's it (bite your tongue if you need to;). If you mess up and start apologizing over and over, as soon as you can catch yourself and say "I messed up there!" and reinforce your determination to apologize appropriately, neither too much nor too little. Btw Richard's advice to start setting health goals is also good - start slow but be consistent. If you fail start over again. Emotionally and physically the only time you lose is when you give up:)

Right on time Richard, your work has taught me so much. Three years of searching and anguishing about the whole experience and lately obsessed with videos on how/why/ what caused him to be so broken, searching our childhoods (a sib) and some deep digging finding the terrible memories of the traumas that caused our brokenness. Forgiving our dad's brokenness and making peace with the past. Forgiven my ex(es), my part in it all (people pleasing+++++) finding my voice at age 67, silenced chronically since childhood. Setting boundaries (never knew this existed, that I could say no) and so much more discoveries about interpersonal weaknesses, self isolation and working on all of them wow what a journey! You, amongst all the voices, are the one I returned to each time and I'm eternally grateful for sharing your journey. No more videos except this one I shall listen to until it becomes the overriding teaching I've searched for. The exhausting, draining, debilitating search is finally over thank you with all my heart this video has brought me so much joy and positive hope. Bless you bless you bless you ❤❤❤ please look after yourself and take good care you are an incredible inspiration. Love and hugs from me in far away South Africa.

I've done the same. I don't really know why I go back to the same place. It might be when things start to go OK we become complacent and forget to keep a forward looking perspective on life or it may be that we can't deal with things going OK and need to return to the comfort of familiarity. I had a really bad coke problem and I've all but got rid of it but the odd thing is once a week I still do it. I don't have the awful depression and that inner critic knocking me down from dawn till dusk that used to be rectified by a packet of coke but instead it's like I just go into auto pilot and get my self some. The only reason I can see is that at some sub conscious level I need to return to that mess because I need the familiarity. I kind of need to return to what I know well even if that is not a nice place to be.

Yeshua makes all thing new and fresh. If one thinks that one can do it oneself that is very difficult and I would say almost impossible but with Yeshua His yoke is easy and with His Holy Spirit living in oneself all things are possible. The evil one keeps bringing up the past and mistakes but we as followers of Yeshua have to take every thought captive and tell that thought to go away by the power of Yeshua that lives in us. We all struggle with this world and thoughts we do not want because we are in this fleshly body and still looking for the great day when all this will be completely renewed. Keep looking up and persevering to hold on to the coming back of Yeshua!

As I sit here today .. after countless hours of you tube .. being there for me through pain and suffering if condensed into a distilled injectable could kill .. I always knew there is life on the other side .. I think for me today .. it’s a combination of my video library.. and growth .. but to today here this video .. this morning .. when you want to tie it all together.. and you’ve been hearing and studying and intellectually knowing what to do next .. but just need a few more cheers and that perfect motivational message to speak to you thru understanding and acknowledgment of painful pasts in order to play into polishing the you that you are Well .. this might be the first video I’ve ever commented on .. thank you Richard .. for providing the spark to put to rest the need to understand.. and define .. to now move forward to life .. you are correct it not dead matter .. the past .. but as the scriptures say .. what is written is for your learning .. our past can teach us .. To overcome my addiction I used the steps of AA. I surrendered to being powerless over the Narcissist I came to believe that a power greater than myself could restore me to sanity and I made a decision to live my life with the help of a loving God and to love myself and be loving and kind to others at the same time I won’t allow people to abuse me

Woooo dude!! Where is the good old cynical Richard...lol No seriously, I couldn't agree more, and thanks for the nicely edited video! I have been practicing all the metaphysics for a while now, and I know for a fact that; when you focus on narcissistic abuse you are going to see more of it in your life BUT if you practice deliberate intention without having healed the trauma, a lot of the great manifestations are going to come to you through narcissists (sorry...) I am very curious what you have to reflect upon this, as even after years of research I have never heard someone clarify this. Maybe except Eckart Tolle, in his few interventions on the law of attraction, when he says that an intention/manifestation that comes from the ego is always going to be mixed up with the traumatic patterns in our life.

Well said. Nicely filmed. Pierre did a great job. Your monologue is correctomundo. Absolutely spot on! Setting your intent.. deciding to be.. Being honest with yourself about past trauma to learn any lessons you need to learn and then YANG into the being you want to be. Move forward, setting things as you want them to be is the how to of creating new habits of personal growth. it does wonders at setting order straight. I would add a note to make sure to stay honest with yourself.. no willful ignorance or denial and then just keep on trucking writing your mental habits as you want them to be. When you figure out the big issues to arrested development, denial and willful ignorance are among the huge ones.. so that the male designs of yanging forward need an addenda to be sure to think and see things correctly as you go.

When I attended NLP course a decade ago, our mentor would ask us to set intent before each class started. We would be in a circle, tune into the centre of our bodies and connect with that in a mild meditative state then write down our intention for the entire day. Then we'd proceed to whatever should be going on in the class, totally forgetting we had set the intentions. I find that it helped put me in a state of congruency and clarity of mind, which my mentor said was state management. I finished the day, of course with challenges but with intent at the back of my mind and a sense of completion at the end of the day. It was rewarding.

Hi Richard... I understand your message. Every day I set an intent, sometimes I meet part of it and other days I can't wash or dress. I can think that my day is going well, but then find myself uncontrollably shaking, checking the doors and windows are locked, or having a full blown dissociation episode..... I'm unclear how to mange my emotional and bodily state. It's controlled by my unconscious and although I check in with myself through the day and night as you suggest, these episodes occur frequently, three or four times a day.....as for your video. It's very atmospheric, but I found it distracted from your message. I wondered where you were, why you were walking apparently alone, which made me feel sad, although I figured someone must be filming,why you sat on a naked baby that disturbingly appeared to be faceless, this freaked me out. I also wondered how cold it was as you seemed wrapped up. Therefore, I had to watch it twice, to just hear what you had to say...sorry.

What you speak of is the kind of struggle I have at times. Stepping forward without fear, fear of making the same mistakes, fear of falling for the same old tricks. There's a soulfly song the quote you mentioned about hope reminded me of the line "no hope no fear" which pops into my head when Im trying too hard to predict outcomes, hope is a sad thing to lose but fear and hope are expectations, we really don't know the outcomes. Mystery is scary but it's also kind of exciting when I sense the fear I try to remind myself to let go and let God. 💝

I find that focusing on other things doesn’t address the underlying issues. In my experience it just resulted in a splintered existence. I have experienced success in various things after setting my intent. Still the trauma and questions are always sitting beneath the surface waiting for opportunities to randomly pop up. Slowing down seems to be an invitation for the “ whys “ to darken my doorstep. Recently I found a “ time machine “ and I’m grateful. EMDR is magical! I’m learning that the whys don’t even matter. EMDR shifts my entire perspective of a traumatic experience. It’s freeing me from the burden of long held, negative, false beliefs. I’m hopeful about the future because of the results I’m experiencing.

This guy is a wisdom killer. What a nut. Coming to terms with your past gains understand and wisdom can be achieved. Wisdom can help those we love threw gaining contentment today by understanding. Going forward without understanding of ones own beliefs will only create new problems and allow those that spot those problems to take advantage of them. I hope to see push back on this guy in the comments.

Nice video production. This video does not fit well in your past work... although everything you said is true, it can only come after you have developed tools to work it. * You have to develop mindfulness. (else you can't get into that space between the flashback and the pain) * You have to look into your past for the reason, else you do not have a map of where the landmines are buried. * You have to begin healing the flashbacks. * You have to have some emotional literacy. After that, you can use the techniques in this video to create a better future. "Why did i leave my ex-wife?" - well, before you worked on these tools that was the ONLY choice you could make. Even if you had a time machine, it is the ONLY choice you could make. So, applying the techniques stated in this video is meaningless. (until you create the tools to use them)

@@georginawhitby1320 wow Georgina. I know for sure that you have not studied it for years and practiced the lessons. Its call "A course in Miracles " for a reason. Not the course in miracles. Because there are many paths to the truth. Acim emphasizes the innocence and forgiveness in Jesus's message. The other message in Christianity is we are guilt and sinners. How could god create something thats not perfect? God is perfect. God cant create mistakes. If you believe your Guilty and a mistake than that is a hell of your own making. Placing the responsibility for our redemption on Jesus is a mistake. Jesus said the kingdom is with. That means you have God in you and can create like God because God works through you. Thats the way God creates more and more love. But we have to choose. Your beliefs which are decisions you have made independent of Gods will create death and destruction. Ask God what to do when you have decision. God wont force it on you. You need to ask. Whats the most loving thing to do in this situation? Thats what God wants you to ask him to decide for you
