Simone is awesome! And I think her degree most certainly contibuted to her success: 1) she learned how to think critically, plan strategically, problem solve, research and become disciplined and consistent to reach benchmarks and goals; and 2) her hospitality degree no doubt qualified her for the positions at the hotels where she gained her work experience. All things worked together for her and I wish her the best!

YES...U don't need a degree to start a business... and a lot of people from my culture frown on College saying that College aint for everyone but, I think EDUCATION is for EVERYONE ... you just gotta go to school for Useful things Not passion projects... that being said... to your points... This is by far the best interview of opening an event space. This has been something I've wanted to do for the last 3 years or so and am working diligently towards starting that process in 2024. I appreciate both of you for 1: asking the important, often overlooked questions and 2: giving honest answers that show your growth as an event venue owner. Spot on about not opening the venue for the money, but doing it for the passion!! This was not only a great interview, but informative training.

I've been seriously considering doing the event space thing over the last year or so. This is by far the most transparent video I've seen regarding this industry. I love this sister's transparency, and her giving the good, bad, and everything in between. I also loved that she has a strong background in events via the hotel/hospitality business. My biggest takeaway from this vid, is to really know and thoroughly understand your particular business, and what you're getting yourself into.

Ok I’ve got a huge old schoolhouse that I’m rehabbing and the interviewer and Simone have been so incredibly helpful! I’ve watched a lot of event venue videos but for her to speak about the actual set up ,linens and everything she has to do to keep it going every month was very eye opening. Thank you so much Simone for your tireless work ethic and much luck to your business. My building has no heat, electric or kitchen. I’ve got my work cut out but the passion is there and it’s absolutely a labor of love!

This information can definitely be used no matter what industry you’re in. I also noticed how a background in hospitality played a big role in understanding the event industry. Sometimes your 9-5 is the experience for your own business without paying the cost for knowledge.

We should collectively get a law passed that requires each city to publicly state 1) events and or business can be held at each registered building, what would be required for code and zoning, 3) how much the city will charge, and how long it will take. Last thought, sis, hire people, to support you, its better to create a job than pay it all out excessive tax $$
