The 3" guideline seems reasonable to me, but it sounded like the general guideline was to go shorter if possible, regardless of height. But, if you're at the pool or beach, I'd think that girth (i.e. being overweight or obese) should have as much consideration as height. I'm on the short side of average and obese -- or at least I have a dad-bod -- and I'd think that showing more skin would tend to emphasize my size in an unflattering way. Thoughts and recommendations? Regarding speedos, I certainly don't think I would be comfortable with the relative lack of modesty. However, I do occasionally wear speedos as an extra layer under trunks. Sometimes, the liner or built-in underwear in the trunks doesn't provide comfortable support, so the speedos help. Also, when swimming at the beach, sometimes sand gets in there and gets really abrasive. A speedo helps protect the sensitive parts.

If the built-in underwear of your trunks are uncomfortable, just cut it. No need to wear anything underneath your trunks.

AWxInc If you are doing another video on swim trucks, you might discuss rise. As a shorter guy, I can find or alter to get the right the length above them knee, but finding trunks where the rise isn’t at my naval has proven impossible.

But Ash and Dorian what about Latin and Mediterranean countries where these would be classed as swim shorts not swim trunks... and somewhere like Brazil where 99% of guys are wearing trunks that you might call 'speedos' or even derogatively 'budgie smugglers' lol? For example the common trunks in Brazil and Italy would be about 5 or 6 inches thick from hip bone down, and variants 1 or 2 inches higher and lower might be considered fashion no nos..

Just forget about the trunks, wear a speedo. more freedom better swimming better tan lines When at the beach speedo brief or square cut is you need with no loose fitting fabric, not even an inch
